Is anyone else reluctant about buying this on PS3?

there wont be a ps4 version, maybe pc

If they port to PC they might as well port it to PS4 as it is using x86 architecture.

And they've implied that it'll come to next gen purely by what they have & haven't said.

Not getting GTAV on or near release day would be a crime. If it is released on PS4 I will simply get it for that as well.

Same here.

IF GTA V ever gets a port it will be like Bully on the 360. Personally i don't see it happening. R* might put it on the Marketplace or PSN to be digitally downloaded but I really believe R* want there first next gen game to be something new on possibly a new engine.

This link below might not be R* related as such but I'll post it anyway:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/40559...nsoles-zelnick/

"We also have a extraordinary pipeline of titles in development for next-generation platforms, including groundbreaking new intellectual property and releases from our proven franchises."

Sounds interesting to me and might hint a little where R* are going next.

No, will be a while before I buy the next gen consoles anyway.

I don't know why half of you are telling me that there will be no graphical changes to it - I clearly stated I wasn't expecting there to be. I also clearly said that I didn't expect them to completely overhaul V for next gen.

I'll very likely get it near release for PS3 cause I f*ckEN LOVE IT.

But.

I think PS4 versions will either come shortly after PS4 release (which I reckon will be by the end of 2013) - or GTA VI / GTA V extension (or whatever you'll call it, like vice city was to GTA III

No chance. If GTA V was to be ported to next gen consoles it would be ported from the PC version and I don't expect to see the PC version by the end of the year. Also San Andreas was never ported to the PS3/360 so not sure why GTA V would be ported to next gen. People can think what they want though.

Yeah i'll stick to my PS3, not ditching it anytime soon, still packs a lot of punch, im not gonna wait for PS4 version (if there is one) just because of the graphics. Look at MGS V and the recently announced Gran Turismo 6, no news about next gen versions of both and both games looks amazing.

I don't give a f*ck about next gen consoles at this moment in time I wish people will stfu about them in the GTA V section.

First of all I will not be buying one at launch for the following reasons:

-Lack of games on the systems

- Some games on the system will just be ports with minor upgrades

- The price

My current gen consoles are good enough for at least a year or two. I'll be buying Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed 4 on the PS3 as I don't care for the ports on next gen consoles. I'll buy a next gen console a year or so after release, ps4 been my first one and by then more games will be on the system that are not ports, the price will have dropped a bit and there is a chance a slim version will be out. Until then all the great games that are out and coming out for current gen systems will last me. GTA V is one of them.

Next gen consoles have no relevance to GTA V period. Have these people who jump on the next gen bandwagon lived through more than one console cycle? I have to ask myself this question because these people seem like kids.

I'll bet that Rockstar will come out with a next gen version of GTA V next year, around the time of the PC release. They would be stupid not to.

How would they be stupid for not doing something you want?

I really don't want to pre order a PS3 version of this (could be Xbox360 for you) because the PS4 could be out by Christmas or something. It would make more sense to me to wait out to save up for a PS4 and buy a (possibly) graphically better version of this, rather than wasting my money on a PS3 version.

Just to say aswell, I'm not saying that I'd wait out because the PS4 version will be a completely new game, but surely there will be updates to the next gen versions that allow better loading/rendering, and possibly better, smoother and more photo like graphics.

Maybe the PS3/Xbox360 versions are so ambitious because they are expecting to bring the same version out on next gen consoles by Christmas (3 months after release)?

Thoughts. NOW.

It'll be a little sharper and might run a little better, only difference game wise, GET OVER IT.

It's not, but then again, I feel sorry for you people, I don't know what will happen to your PS3's, but mine will still work after the PS4 comes out, it's a shame all of yours wont because judging by the responses in this thread, as soon as the PS4 is released, all North American PS3's will implode, taking their games collection with it, so sad.

This. If V releases for PS4, I'll buy a copy for each: 1 for the superiority (main copy I'll be playing) and one for online multiplayer with my friends.

I expect the PS4 version to be a port from the PC version (and release at similar times)

I dont know if I'll use the new consoles as my quitting gaming point, or as an excuse to get back into it. I almost don't play games anymore.

The only reason to have second thoughts about getting it on PS3 is the fact that Xbox Live will have more kids and dudebros to grief in multiplayer.

Because they are a company and at the end of day they are there to make money are they not? Common sense. By the way, I don't care if they make it for PC or next gen because I won't be buying it, so it isn't something I personally want.

Remember, Rockstar is a software company, not a hardware company. GTA V started development in 07/08. The next gen wasn't even thought of

Will not be getting a PS4 until it has some really good games. No need to buy right away. My PS3 still has plenty of life in it. Will just be playing GTA V on current console.

To answer the original question: NO. Whilst I can easily afford them, next gen consoles don't interest me until the prices become more reasonable and all the kinks are ironed out. There's ALWAYS issues will the initial releases of new consoles and those issues get rectified and significant improvements occur (hard drive space, reliability for example) with the release of later versions.

I feel for you on that (no homo) especially the prices, while they are affordable, they certainly aren't reasonable. Besides, I didn't get my Xbox 360 until October of 2009, only because I was waiting for the price to be reasonable, there was no way I was paying 500 bucks for a console on release. Same will be applied to Next-Gen as well.

No

I won't be buying a PS4 anytime soon since it will probably be ridiculously expensive at launch(If Nintendo is charging $350 for a console that is barely a cut above the PS3/360 I'd hate to see how much consoles that actually are next gen will cost)

Even if I could afford a PS4 I definitely wouldn't get it at launch since consoles usually have some kind of defect that they have to address within months of launch.

I highly doubt that GTA will get a PS4/Nextbox port anytime soon(probably not for about 2 years) based on this article

There really isn't much to be reluctant about. I am getting it for the PS3 regardless. If it happens to come out for the PS4 I'll probably get that too, I will be keeping my PS3 for as long as it survives, and I've had it since 2007. It is working flawlessly.

I think you'd be making a mistake to wait till PS4. Who knows if they'll even launch GTA V on PS4 and the nextbox. San Andreas came out for PS3 just last year and its the exact same game, zero improvement in graphics and San Andreas came out around the end of PS2's lifetime.

Dont do it, just get it for PS3.

Thanks for giving an actual, reasonable response instead of just fury and swear words like the rest of em!

I'm no console expert, not PC or networking or porting or what f*cking ever. I was just speculating that possibly waiting out for a PS4 version COULD be wise. Obviously not.

I too have had my PS3 since 2007 (October), the shiny 60gb big model.
