Posted May 17, 2013 Share Posted May 17, 2013 I've seen people around here that have said GTA V Grapihcs look "Last Gen" Do they mean since the new Play Station is coming out they're saying it looks like PS3/Xbox 360 graphics? if so that's retarded seeing as it's being released on both PS3 and Xbox 360 and a next gen release is "Unlikely" Or do they mean it looks like xbox and ps2 Graphics? Back when GTA IV was released, the PS3 and Xbox 360 were call "next generation". Now those people are calling them "last generation" even though the PS4 and next Xbox aren't out yet. But at least Rockstar is committed to finishing this game for the hardware it was designed for. If a lesser company were developing GTA V, they would have had the game half finished when they got their hands on those next gen dev kits, then scrapped it all to re-focus on new hardware. It happened to Duke Nukem, twice. And look at the end results there: 15 years in development and a 54 percent Metacritic rating to show for it. Some people don't like to consider 360/PS3 "current gen" because they're old as f*ck and next gen is right around the corner, and some even consider Wii U to be the actual current gen, which is arguable. Either way, people shouldn't stop watching next gen gameplay, because it is the future for console gaming. It's always weird how people hate on the new consoles until they end up getting one. Basically anyone referring to this gen as "last" already is a Jerk and was more than likely 10 or under when SA came out on the Ps2, pretty much (imo) making their points invalid! I know the technology improvement is there, it's just that current games announced aren't really pushing it. As far as I'm aware most games they are showing now for "next gen" are running on high end PCs such as Watch Dogs. High end PCs have always been around and yet I buy console games as my PC sucks. Point is I've lived without the difference and that more or less is the same as playing on current gen systems and not next gen. The difference is there sure but it's not a big difference. Once games are developed from the ground up for next gen consoles then I will care but when games are cross platform I can't say I do. Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed and the like all need to be built from the ground up for next gen for me to care. To be honest, most of the games I've seen for next gen (PS4 & NeXtbox) don't look astonishingly better than some current gen games, 'The Last of Us' is a prime example. If we were only shown that game now & told it was a PS4 release title, a lot of people wouldn't bat an eyelid. Even if GTA V doesn't have super high-res textures, it's the detail put into every part of the game that makes it look better than almost every other title & especially open world sandbox games (imo). "Last Gen" is an over-exaggerated claim for the game's graphics, at least most of the time. It's not R*'s fault because they can only do so much with consoles packing specs equivalent to a mid-range PC from 2005. There are some truly awful textures and vegetation, and there have been reports of pop-in. But like I said, nothing can be done about it so I don't hold it against them.
