Looting corpses

In GTA when you killed someone he dropped some cash and his gun. Dropping the gun and picking it up by walking over it is fine of course but It would be nice if we can loot a corpse like in RDR and perhaps pick up some other cool items on the way. Perhaps their jewelry, caps and sun glasses that you can either keep and wear or sell to a pawn shop.

Perhaps you can also loot some drugs and other stuff to.

I hope they put this in, it was a nice little detail, and Marston always had something amusing to say when you did it.

It would be nice, but please don't switch to a cinematic view every single time you do that like in RDR. It was incredibly annoying.

To be honest it was only fun the first few times, then it became stale and I started considering it an intentional delay to extend play time by hours. Even though it's not.

I guess that could be fixed, or made quicker. I just want to get some loot that is more then just ammo and money.

The Made Man

I prefer the old way, much more simple and faster.

It could make for a somewhat dark and visceral experience. I was thinking it should be more like the body examination mechanic in L.A.Noire, but much much slicker and faster, because you're rifling through your victims pockets, not carefully looking for clues.

Atleast let us pick up some other stuff then just money and ammo. Some extra`s would be nice.

I want the Red Dead way, but allow the small animation to be skipped by pressing any button, so those who want it the old fasioned unrealistic way of having glowing things float away from dead bodies can skip it.

As long as you can pick up ammo fast! That's the most important thing I reckon.

I think we're going to be able to do that, since they're going to use the radar "X" when people are dead.

I like that, where did you read that they will use the x on the map. Without the x it was really tough to find the corpses in the wilderness

From what I read in one of the previews collecting things such as weapons will work the same as in red dead but since the game is based on money you will be able to pick up other things such as money and jewellery which you can sell at a pawn shop later and apparently you will be able to use the same technique with pedestrians to pick pocket them lets hope this info is true smile.gif

Buffalo Soldier

Would like this - most games do it now anyway.

The old style 'floating guns and money' are very arcade-ish and outdated now.

It would be too slow, or just annoying if there was even a "skip" button, during combat situations.

Maybe have money and guns/ammo drop like normal, but you can search bodies for clothing and turkey dinosaurs?

Exactly.

This has been on my list of things that I hope will be optional (or, better yet, not in the game). I would've greatly preferred to have no super-up-close, cinematic camera in RDR whenever I looted a body or put someone on a horse, etc.

It gets old very quickly.

Would love to see it, to make shooting posh areas up more fun, not knowing if there's a sea of cash on the dude or just a few notes, it would make looting almost as fun as looting on wow.... But really, id rather not if there is a little clip every single time!

I wouldn't mind a hybrid of GTA and RDR. Guns, ammo, and money float like in GTA, but if you have the time to loot the body, you can loot extras. Extras might include jewelry, drugs, snacks, hidden/bolstered weapons, and.their clothes (helping to escape the.police with a quick change of clothes would be a nice touch). If a SWAT team member was taken out with a headshot, maybe take his vest too. In this manner, your run and gun police chases wouldn't be slowed down, but if you took the time you might find a few more things to help you.

Only in Heist missions, lets say that the guy refuses to open the vault scaring him won't work, threatening his family doesnt either,so you kill him, then loot his body and find a card, swipe it and get in.

I want looting like in The Warriors.

i love the whole idea of looting corpses, when you are done with a shootout and you go around quick looting you feel like stacking, piling up rewards and like your effort was actually repayed somehow.

They can make a quick crouching animation without cutscene and a pop up saying "13 ammo obtained".

I think GTA should be kept with the money floating over the dead body concept, its vintage GTA.

I like the OP's idea. Floating money and guns would look stupid in this highly detailed city.

But it is classic GTA style to do so. Even though this game looks beautiful, i think some original concepts should be kept. If they start losing some of the original GTA ideas and replacing them with ideas from Max Payne, Red Dead ETC, than eventually all Rockstar games will carry the same features.

I am guessing it has already been implemented like RDR. If you just need the ammo quickly you run over the gun but if you have time to search for money and other stuff you loot the corpse. But maybe they will still let the money float around and looting corpse is just for interesting items and things to sell.

Didn't GI confirm player inventory? So looting bodies would be logical to me.

I sure hope the inventory is in. I would prefer RDR style looting, but I would like it to be much, MUCH faster and have no cutscene... thing.
