MosquitoSmasher
I'm not sure how many of these foreign language previews you guys read, but while reading one of the Dutch ones, from Tweakers.net in this case i read some cool things. It's nothing big or whatsoever, but they kinda word things differently than other previews did. Not going to translate the full piece, because plenty is old, BUT...there are a few things that they talk about into much more detail than other previews. I hope it's new for you, for me it was...here goes: The first thing we noticed is how finished the game looked, except for a few small things. Amongst the things we've seen was a wheel where the weapons are placed in and which you can select. On the wheel was place for like twelve weapons, with no doubt a few slots for grenades and other explosives too. The wheel/menu was gone before we could take a real good look at it. This however did give us some questions...what if you die in the game with like twelve weapons on you? Will you lose it all or what? Rockstar isn't yet sure how to tackle this, the developer hasn't yet decided if they want to go with the GTA IV system or if they'll tone it down a bit and let you keep your guns if you are busted. ^This preview says that you lost your weapons when you went to the hospital in IV, but that is not true. From what i remember is that you kept all your guns, but if busted...you lost them. Another feature Rockstar still hasn't decided on yet is the Wanted system. There will be plenty of police on your path, but its not clear if they will come after you if you make on traffic violation. As we all know, the three characters will meet eachother plenty of times, although not always voluntarily. There are missions that you will be doing with just two or three of the characters. I think thats a new mention about how you will have missions for just two characters as well, so not only one character or all three. THis preview also talks about buying AND upgrading/pimping your properties. Yet another source talking about upgrading. Anything can happen in the countryside parts. The simplest encounters with human or animal can provide a challenge or a mission. There's plenty of life outside of the city. Predators will be on the prowel and they can be annoying, but there are also people who rather live there than in the city.A motorcycle gang lives in the hot desert and a group of people, in other words 'crazies' in a forest. There's also a military base hidden in the countryside. We've not seen a whole lot of it , but it is said that it's a huge joy to drive through the countryside in a nice car or on motorcycle. Speaking of countryside..we saw Franklink going down with a parachute, almost hitting the rocks and nearby wild cats had almost attacked him. What we've seen of GTA V looks a whole lot better than what we've seen in the previous games. The world is much more detailed, while the colourful, almost comic-like style is kept intact. That doesn't mean everything is shiney and pretty. We also saw dilapidated parts of town and the misery there is much better shown than previously. We haven't yet had a taste of the completely renewed controls, but the fact that Rockstar has been changed this a lot makes us very happy. They also speak about the new movement, very similar to MP3, i do wonder wtf they mean with pike diving. The controls have been refined and changed drastically. They clearly have taken a good look at MP3. We didn't see in the demo, but it is promised that we'll see Michael having bullet time and he can roll to cover and do pike diving. http://tweakers.net/reviews/3027/grand-theft-auto-v.html Edited May 12, 2013 by MosquitoSmasher
AceHigh11
Good read. Didn't know there were 12 slots on the weapon wheel. That's new for me.
TrialzGTAS
Why the hell would Michael do a pike dive a gun fight? It's what swimmers do. Maybe they mean dolphin dive
MosquitoSmasher
Good read. Didn't know there were 12 slots on the weapon wheel. That's new for me. Keep in mind that they said 'Like twelve...' so it's not 100% certain, but it sure sounds we'll be able to carry a nice selection of steel with us, which is very very good in my book. @TrialzGTAS Well they said 'snoekduiken' which a translator says is pike diving. Maybe they mean you can actually dive into the water, similar to Far Cry 3?
wwinterj
On the wheel was place for like twelve weapons, with no doubt a few slots for grenades and other explosives too. Still not sure how I feel about this. I guess I'll have to see it in action but I'd hate to be limited on the amount of weapons I can hold. With that said even last gen GTA games were limited in how much weapons you could hold so I suppose it could work. Only time will tell. The animal part, although only brief has me looking forward to it. Even though the Cougars in Red Dead Redemption were a pain in the ass they did add tension to the game. I assume Sharks and mountain lions will do the same. Good preview thank you for posting.

Yep! 12 would make sense though. Double the amount of space there was in RDR's weapon wheel. I like the sound of it.
Nah Tso Gud
Why the hell would Michael do a pike dive a gun fight? It's what swimmers do. Maybe they mean dolphin dive I don't think the diving is related to gun fighting. Maybe it is just how we will enter the water from a run or something, like FC3. Kill Frenzy!
Hope we will lose our weapons when busted and when you died, it makes it much more realistic but it's annoying so I wonder what Rockstar will choose... I hope R* will take the old way from IV. Would be ridiculous that you're busted and the cops didn't take away your weapons. Haha, I am one of them who is going to live out side the city, gonna buy a house there if it's possible. Thanks, MosquitoSmasher.

Official General
Nice, interesting read Especially the crazies in forest part, I love the idea of that. Ironically I suggested the thought of this in the game in an earlier thread yesterday. Edited May 12, 2013 by Official General

Sounds just like the weapon wheel from Red Dead Redemption. Glad they didn't use the system from Max Payne 3 where you could only hold 3 weapons at a time. With that said even last gen GTA games were limited in how much weapons you could hold so I suppose it could work. Only time will tell. All GTA games have had a limited number of weapons on you at any given point. In IV (like most games in the 3D era) you can switch between sets with cheats, and some weapons replace others when picked up. The "scroll through every weapon to find the one you want" system that was still in use in IV was ancient, and I for one am very pleased to see them go with a more quickly deployable version. I hate it when in IV you get out of the car to smoke some cops and you have the wrong weapon selected, it's a major hassle to scroll thru em. Just To Clarify
Weapon wheel, like in Red Dead Redemption confirmed???? YEAH PLEASE, it's so much better to use and FASTER than the usual GTA weapon selection system. Bring it Rockstar!
ivarblaauw
nice, the part i loved the most is: DESERT! AWW YEAH... still hoping for another city but there are a lot of villages, don't know how big a village can be? I live in a village and it has about 45.000 inhabitants... so i can be very big... well let's wait. maybe it's only los santos, maybe its 4/5 cities... we don't know. Lets wait for more R* footage

ChronoStinger
thank God R* decided not to limit us with the amount of weapons we carry! That's kind of thing that would probably made me refuse to buy GTAV (yes!...this subject is really THAT sensitive to me!...)! So lets just say whether there's 12 slots or 8 or even 6, i'm just being glad that its not ONE gun like in Max Payne 3 LOL! i would even be alright with 6 weapons to be honest, anything but not one!... If you want to know how, here is how it goes: 1- Open gun wheel. 2- Pick a gun type by pointing at the place it is located. [ Up, down, left, right and corners ] 3- Once you are over said gun type, let us say shotguns, you can now pick other shotguns by using the D-pad, I think. So, instead of having a SPAS-12 [ Pump action ] or a sawed-off shotgun or a AA-12 [ Full auto ] in your pocket, you can have them all at once
