[UserScripts] GTAForums Image Widthener

Version 1.5

With High Speed Internet, Larger Download Allowances and 1920px Screens people have started posting Bigger and Bigger Images on the Forums, and at present there is no way to make these images smaller or scale them down for people who have smaller monitors or a viewing on a Mobile Device... Until Now.

Now that I have created the GTAForums Image Widthener it should prevent that on all Browsers that have some form of support for UserScripts, this is only version 1.0 of the script which even though it is extremely simple does need a little bit of fine tuning to get the best most optimum result across different resolutions, particularly 4:3 Monitors or lower resolution devices like Tablet Pc's or Mobile Devices.

I hope everyone finds this useful and can live with it until GTAForums V2 is launched with this feature built into it... hopefully arriving sometime in the near or more likely extremely distant future.

You should have no trouble running this in any Browser that has a UserScripts addon, I have placed and linked below the UserScripts Addons for Browsers that I have successfully tested this Script in and will continue to hunt around the internet to find way to get this running on other browsers too. If you know of another way please do let me know of it.

~ Firefox -- Greasemonkey

~ Chrome -- NinjaKit -- Tampermonkey

~ Safari -- NinjaKit

I still have a little work to do on this but not much, at the moment it just takes all the images and makes there maximum width 70% of the your resolution width, even though this is effective on larger monitors {1366 wide or more} it is less so effective on smaller ones {1024 wide or less} so I would like to set ranges of scaling for depending on how wide your monitor is, it is not much work to do so and should not be too much, if there is any other suggestions feel free to post them.

I am not sure if this was posted in the correct place, but it will get more notice here than other places on the forum, plus it is technically a mod but for the Forum and not a game.

That's one long-waited tool, and I just did a little test in IV Artwork thread... Works just as it should on Windows 7 64-bit Google Chrome, running Ninjakit to use the script.

Thank you, and I hope you get a medal for this one! smile.gif

Thanks, I really appreciate it knowing that someone is finally testing it and likes it.

Edit:

I am still surprised it was not done previously considering the simplicity of the code.

Yeah, I agree with oksu. This one is a 'better-late-than-never' script, very useful. icon14.gif Nice job, works great on Firefox. Would certainly help getting rid of the spammers. smile.gif Thanks a lot for this. Cheers. Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gifcookie.gifcookie.gif

I have updated the script, the links are the same and by clicking on them it should prompt for Installation of Version 1.5

The Following Is Changes.

• More Than 1920 Res - Max Image Width Now 80%

• 1920 Res - Max Image Width Now 80%

• 1366 Res - Max Image Width Now 72%

• 1360 Res - Max Image Width Now 72%

• 1024 Res - Max Image Width Now 63%

• 800 Res - Max Image Width Now 52%

• Less Than 800 Res - Max Image Width Now 40%

If Images are still too big for your screen post in this topic the Resolution and I will see what can be done.

This one doesn't seem to work. confused.gif the first one worked great, but now it doesn't work at all. I'm running on 1280x720, on Firefox with Greasemoneky. Maybe make something like resizing 'em down to 640x480 for all resolutions?

It's working perfectly fine for me at that Res on FF with Greasemonkey.

Perhaps you disabled Greasemonkey?

Edit:

(See if the little Monkey icon looks half faded or not, click on it to turn it on or off)

Edit:

Yes, the problem you were having was due to multiple images being posted in a single line and that stretching out the page as I checked and the script was working perfectly.

  • 4 weeks later...

Thanks for the script ..

Its *almost* working perfect for me .. it would be perfect, but I'm still getting a slight stretch on the image.

If GTAForums didn't have the menu/navigation on the left, then it would work fine icon14.gif

Even 'Almost Working' is better than not working at all, Is there any specific page it is happening on?

Also, Whats you Browser & Resolution?

Hah, I've been corrected, this does work great, but still a few stretches, that's why I thought it doesn't work. tounge.gif Do you somehow still have v1? That version seems to make the stretching disappear completely on mine. smile.gif
