Would you rather have a realistic GTA or a classic GTA?

  1. 1. Would you rather have a realistic GTA or a classic GTA?

    • A realistic GTA where all your RPG dreams can come true, without all the mods.
      67
    • A classic GTA where you're nearly unstoppable and barely interrupted.
      35
    • Realism on some levels, but not a Mafia V.

    • Mafia V would get a 11/10.

Grand Theft Auto's have always been fun and entertaining, I doubt a little bit of realism (Having to go to prison, refuel and eat when hungry) will ruin GTA V for everyone, people will find workarounds to have their fun, but I'v been wondering.

Most realistic things Rockstar have tried adding into GTA have mostly failed, but have been praised and loved with their modification in the later titles.

Take San Andrea's huger system for example, so annoying to just stop the fun and have to go eat, but in GTA IV, no one complains, because you go eat hotdogs to regain health mostly.

In GTA IV, friends constantly calling you was very realistic, but got annoying after a while, and gets WAY more hate than it deserves, they don't call nearly as much as people describe.

Mafia on the other hand, took realism as its ...Thing.

I honestly don't like Mafia since it's such a pain in the ass deal with everything after you have your fun, and that's the last thing you should be doing in a game... Fighting it to squeeze out its fun.

Now, having an option to skip (In the menu, not a manual skip) the realistic things would be fun for all, fun for the GTA community and the RPG community, and the mod makers would be so happy.

But I'm just speaking hypothetically, I doubt Rockstar would add that much realism into GTA, but if they had to add one or the other, which would you prefer?

Grand Theft Auto IV is as realistic as it should get.

Add the ability to gas up your car? Cool, but make it like a power up. Running out of gas in the middle of a chase would suck.

Why do people think GTA V is going to be more realistic then GTA IV? They have regenerate health with bullet time. That already is less realistic then GTA IV. Why would they hurt the game with gas? No one likes it but RPG players and underage kids. Gas should NEVER be in a GTA game.

You know, I don't really think Rockstar would be the sort of company to ditch fun for realism, and they know GTA 5 will get modded, so it's better for something to be modded in than for it to be modded out.

Oh really? Please link me to those statistics and/or study that concludes that.

OT: GTA V will have the perfect mix Fun and Realism.

Bingo.

The using sinks, beds, and toilets thread is absurd. I just want to emphasize on crime. Is that too much to ask?

Here's something I stand by.

An option is better than an obligation, especially if that obligation is catered to the minority.

From what I know about the game I think GTA V has a good balance between realism and fantasy.

There isn't need for any statistics. If you've been around the forum for a while then you'll see what I mean. Most people that want it are RPG ( Role Playing Gamers ) or underage kids ( Cause they never driven a car/ put gas in one ) so they want to ruin our fun. Gas is a useless feature that won't add any fun to any gamers besides the two I mention. Its just an annoyance.

Everyone I've seen seems to think "Well it worked in mafia II". But the only reason it worked there is because you had a map that's about a third the size of broker in GTA IV and a completely linear story. Well, I say worked, but I've had a better time with E.T on the atari 2600 then I've had with mafia II.

I mean, what is so great about that game anyways? The nearly empty city? The cliched storyline? That part that made you get a job carrying crates where you HAD to carry at least one crate or the game wouldn't let you continue?

I mean, I think grappling hooks worked in Batman Arkham City and Just Cause 2, so maybe GTA V should have them too. Super powers worked in prototype, so maybe GTA V should have them too.

What's that? That's stupid? But they worked in the other games and apparently fuel working in mafia II is a good enough excuse to put it in a GTA game, so I'm just using that same logic.

I don't really think Mafia worked and don't honestly know many people that thought it was as fun as GTA.

It was too much of a pain in the ass to have fun.

I think it would be hilarious running out of gas in the middle of a chase. It would be another obstacle you would have to overcome in the midst of a sticky situation which would not only make it more difficult, but immerse you deeper in the game. But realistically, you would probably never run out of gas unless you are the unlucky bastard to hi-jack a car that is spittin fumes.

They could also add gas stations as a business to own where you could get free gas from. Fuel is a big part of the world today and is a significant issue, having to pay for gas and watch your fuel would not take away from the fun in the least, for me. Having said that, it would obviously not be a big deal if it isn't part of the game which i think is the case.

I have nothing against sitting down. As long as it doesn't take out a feature I'm find. I'm surprise they never added this in GTA IV or RDR.

Why are you telling me what my experience would be? I don't enjoy getting gas. I just don't. Some people out there do, but they already have mafia 2 for that sort of thing.

There are times that I do like to play as RPG, and there are times that I don't. I think there are ways to appeal to all types of gamers. The first thing that comes to mind is adding these things that RPG players would like as cheats. You want to have the option of having to fuel your car, eat a burger to stop your hunger, ect., then add this as a "realism" cheat. Sounds logical I think. That was the beauty of SA. You could enter the cheat to keep from having to do certain things. It's all about having options.

The 3 people that voted for it being Mafia V.

I hope they're joking, cause that's so f*cking self centered, didn't even come close to thinking anyone would hate GTA so much as to want it to become that.

Gta has always been Hollywood realistic, never been outright ridiculous and childish ala Saints row, or uber realistic ala mafia 2.

No gta has ever deviated from this Hollywood realism. GTAIV was NOT REALISTIC!!! LESS FEATURES DOES NOT MEAN MORE REALISTC, by that logic gta3 or even going further gta1 were bloody life simulators, GTAIV at the end of the day still had you riding a dirt bike of a conviently placed ramp, while a helicopter showed up at just the right time and at the right spped angle that was flown by a stoned Jamican who for some reason was able to steal a Police helicopter within ten minutes of him leaving you.

Good realism= realistic cars, physics, atmosphere, city, music, npcs, guns (including miniguns etc, because they actually exsist) yet all these features are always drenched in satire and subtle humour. every gta so far has had these elements and used the power of consoles at the time to portray that.

Bad realism= anything that affects the player such as fuel, dying in one shot, limiting weapons.

the problem with gta is that it has such a huge and divierse fanbase. causal to hardcore gamers, realism freaks to fun and outrageous freaks, children to adults, idiots to intelligent people. It's that popular!.

By doing what Gta does ie have the good realism which I listed and staying away from bad realism again listed. everyone is happy. people who like fun and mayham aren't hampered by stupid things like carrying only one gun and dying because they forgot to eat or got shot once, and people who hate complete stupidness aren't annoyed with nothing but supercars and tanks driving around the streets and being a goddam super powered human who constanly is getting up to whacky situations.

Gta compromises to keep everyone happy to the best that it can.

What ''Mafia V'' means?

It means if GTA V had 1% GTA and 99% Mafia (Too realistic, barely any fun.)

There was nothing wrong with eating in SA

The skills went down so slowly that you didn't have to worry about it (and the skills were fun)

Let's hope V can at least come close to SA's epicness lol.gif

Eating was plain annoying. Worst feature ever added in a GTA game.

Gas should NEVER be in a GTA game.

Oh, but there has been. In GTA 1. wink.gif

Anyway I really think there should be some segregation between something which enhances the experience and something that comes across as annoying.

I still laugh to this day when GTA IV gets bashed for being too realistic because it really isn't at all. If it was we'd be able to do our groceries, file tax returns etc.

Some of the "realism" ideas people post on here unfortunately make me cringe. It makes me wonder if that's what they really want in a game that by no stretch of the imagination is centred around crime.

I'm sure most of us can agree there's really nothing wrong with including more relaxing activities such as tennis, golf, bowling etc as it's a nice break from the typical GTA chaos, but none of us want the annoyances of life put into a game.

I want to be playing GTA after all. Not The Sims with guns.

So i voted the last option cool.gif

Depend what we call realism. Shine shoes, open the tap and turn on the light, is totally optional and pretty good stuff for a sandbox.

Since the ''realistic stuff'' is quick and don't break the gameplay dynamic, all realism is valid and makes the game better.

I just like the Mafia II features and want it in GTA V.

Repairing the engine for example, is something totally useful, but ironically it's not too realistic in Mafia II tounge.gif He did not touch the car's hood

I guess I'm one of the very few who preferred the arcade feel of last gen GTA games. If I want realism I'd step outside. do agree with people though. GTA IV should be as real as a GTA game will get. Anything more than that would be overkill.

Then go play Mafia II, and get excited about paying bills in Mafia III, assuming they listen to the fans (That list had paying f*cking bills.)
