Hector Tavares
Lately it seems that a lot of new sandbox-style games released after GTA IV have vehicles containing looping (or repeating) engine sound clips. This in my opinion can get very annoying after a short amount of time when all you hear if your car shifting gears over and over again. Games like this include Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (when going up a hill, jumping, or on train tracks), Saints Row The Third and Sleeping Dogs which have vehicles with rather loud engine sound effects that loop endlessly. With that being said, yes I do have a slight fear that Rockstar might go down that dark, annoying path and have looping engine sound effects. Due to lack of gameplay videos, we can't conclude otherwise. Do you folks think that GTA V might have looping engine sounds?

wwinterj
Do you folks think that GTA V might have looping engine sounds? GTA IV didn't have them, EFLC didn't have them, Red Dead Redemption didn't have them and neither will V. Doesn't matter what other games do in there game to be honest with you. RedDragonsBOOM
I just hope their engine sounds are better than every previous GTA, IMO its always been a very weak showing from Rockstar in their engines. They all sound too quiet(muted) and fake(completely fabricated) They should really take some samples from real cars or make better damn fabrications. This game is 3/4ths about driving at least I mean AUTO is in the title, you would think their AUTOS would sound better.

TheCollector
I won't buy V if engine sounds sound looped. OBVIOUSLY Is this meant to be sarcasm!? Everyone here is going to buy the game regardless, and they aren't going to bring out a brand new game and make it worse. Don't be silly.

CryptReaperDorian
I hope none of the vehicles in GTA V sound like the Sultan RS from GTA IV. That constant, high-pitched "PSH!" iNero
To post something related: Yes, I hope GTAV will have proper car sounds cause GTAIV sounded way too weak. Especially the sports cars. Imagine Forza Sounds in GTAV. AWESOME!

Pretty much, the Sultan RS was the most wicked sounding car on that entire game. I hope they add turbo addons for V in the customization.

Kifflom112
Almost all car sounds were horrible in IV...When I closed eyes I did pretend to ride a vacuum cleaner Oh you. You hate everything that is related to IV. The only car in IV that sounded horrible was the Turismo(it sounded like an electric razor with a gearbox, lol). I thought the cars in IV sounded weak, albeit not terrible. There was no excitement and they just weren't loud enough. You'd think driving a Murcielago knockoff through skinny streets surrounded by concrete towers would create a nice, screaming, echo but no. All you got was some bland ass noise. The cars in V need to sound distinct and exciting. Exhausts need pop and crackle, they also need to create thrills. It seems even racing games lack in this though; for example Forza Horizon's cars sounded distinct in nice but they didn't sound exciting.
Naean
Didn't the sports cars exclusive to The Ballad of Gay Tony improve (If only slightly.) on the vehicle sounds? I swear they were noticeably better than Grand Theft Auto IV's sports cars in terms of the sounds they used. Perhaps I'm remembering wrongly, though.... I really think Rockstar with their obsession for detail would have thought about stuff like this before, maybe the math of trying to create something that dynamic with sound is just over their heads or way too complicated for this generation of hardware. However how you described that made me physically excited at the very chance that this being possible in V. I really hope Rockstar does something about the engine sounds in this one, but I think if they were overtly different we would have heard something in the previews by now.
