Diesleman
The actual top speed in GTA IV was 178mph. No car could go that fast though. Yet the Comet was capable of 217 mph and the Police Stinger 240 mph on PS3. Goodness knows what pirated copy of the game you guys were playing. LOL you have no idea what you're talking about. Quite the contrary, but hey, I'll leave naivety to those who enjoy it... The Sultan had a top speed of 178mph and that weighed 1400kg and was powered by a 3.5 Just because you read it on the GTA wiki doesn't make it true. I tested it in-game and the top speed is 178 mph or 287 km/h. Actually read from here; "All data is taken straight from game files." You failed. According to my ELFC, during No.3 in TBoGT I reached 223 mph so there's more evidence that you're info isn't legit. I don't know if you're daft or what, I've tested it by applying the max speed with a trainer, not driving around the airport or attempting to measure in game length. The game engine does not allow you to exceed 178mph. So you modded the game? TBH I think you're talking nonsense. In TBoGT in the mission No.3 the Bullet GT is capable of speeds in excess of 230 mph, mine got 232mph. And my PS3 has no mods whatsoever. Ever considered the game told you that you were doing that speed regardless of the fact that in proper in game measurements you weren't going that fast? I'm not saying I know, but have you considered that?

The game has a hardcoded limit of 288 km/h or 180mph. In a completely unmodded(handling.dat) version of the game, no car even touches 200km/h, let alone cross 200mph. BTW, gta4.net/vehicles has BS data too. The Infernus tops out between 160 and 170km/h IIRC. Edited May 11, 2013 by Gtaplayaminigun

In reality at their max speed was actually about 100. You do realize that at 240 MPH, you would be travelling 4 miles every minute, and therefore would cross the entire city in two minutes, right? You can drive from the airport all the way to the other side of Algonquin in roughly 1min 10secs with the Police Stinger, so yes, crossing the entire map in 2 minutes is indeed possible. If you're a modder of some sort, mod a long runway the length of the entire map, speed across it, time it, and see what you get.

JANTSUU
I don't care about numbers since there is no speedometer in GTA games. Sense of speed was fine in GTA IV. I hate driving in games like GRID or Need for Speed because of ridiculously overdone sense of speed, like you are driving some space rocket. GTA IV felt pretty realistic. Squishybubs
not really a prob in a jet. U are high up and it doesnt need to load all details as it would in a car on the ground And what if you're flying low to the ground?

IN reality you were probably not going faster than about 100 MPH, if you actually measured the times and distance traveled.
jamieleng
Would a higher ground speed cause more texture pop-in & objects not loading?
iNero
Would a higher ground speed cause more texture pop-in & objects not loading? Watch the screens with the draw distance. There is already more loaded than in IV. In GTAIV when I did drive full speed there inky were some small textures which were loaded with a slight delay while I still was driving. As soon as I did break, everything was loaded. I doubt this will be a problem. I mean Forza Horizon or any other Open World Racing Game doesnt have loading problems and they drive actual real life speed and not toned down speed like in GTA. GTA might have more details but I doubt this is so relevant
Scampi
I saw object pop-ins during IV just walking - stuff like light poles, trash cans, etc. They would appear about a half block in front of me. RDR was a lot better, but I'm not sure if it had more or less objects to render. It was wide open, but each plant had to be factored in and there was a lot of shrubbery. It got noticeable in Tall Trees with the thick forest canopy, but overall the game was a big improvement I'd say. IV was early in the gen's life span so I'm sure by now R* will have found some shortcuts to help with pop-ins. CVG said they saw none, which frankly I find very hard to believe, but I'm hoping it's true. Pop-in is the most distractive thing to me. Just out of curiosity what is the fastest vehicle in the entire series? If I had to guess I would say the hydra.
