iNero
When measuring the time and calculate it with the distance, the top speed was about 90-100 mph in GTA4. ( without mods) I dont know where GTA Wiki guys got their top speed number from cause 200 mp/h is ridicilous. Nontheless, it felt pretty slow even when on top speed. But that wasnt really a big deal as there werent many places to reach top speed without bumbing to objects or traffic. I hope we get a higher top speed/ generel speed in GTAV now that we get long highways in the dessert and countryside.

You can't even go faster than 178mph with mods.
TheQuestfor100Percent
IV felt fast enough to me. I would like V to feel slightly faster though. Don't care about actual speed numbers.

Grove Street Balla
It would be easier to drive faster in V than IV because less cars in countryside / Blaine county I hope.
Apex
What is it that you don't get? The handling.dat file can be changed to make cars go faster, the only reason they drive at a maximum of 100mph is because Rockstar limited them intentionally. However, the top speed that all vehicles could potentially go and that the game engine allows is 178mph.
JB94
The actual top speed in GTA IV was 178mph. No car could go that fast though. In reality at their max speed was actually about 100. You do realize that at 240 MPH, you would be travelling 4 miles every minute, and therefore would cross the entire city in two minutes, right? d3ex2
I hope they increase it. They have to if they are giving us cars based on ferrrari's and bugatti's! Cars felt so damn slow in IV. Maybe they could add a motion blur effect so that it doesn't make pop in as noticeable at high speeds.
Raavi
Speeds in games especially open world games are relative and not comparable to real life speeds. For instance; 40 mph can be comparable to 80 mph in real life. It's more about making it seem to go 'fast' then having it actually go fast as that would put far too much weight on the engine. Besides, as it is in real life acceleration is much more important than top speed. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise

But im pretty sure it will be alot faster due the way longer draw distance and huger map. And eject could be pretty obvious. At least I hope so

I don't know if you're daft or what, I've tested it by applying the max speed with a trainer, not driving around the airport or attempting to measure in game length. The game engine does not allow you to exceed 178mph. In TBoGT in the mission No.3 the Bullet GT is capable of speeds in excess of 230 mph, mine got 232mph. And my PS3 has no mods whatsoever.
Apex
I didn't mod the game, the trainer doesn't add anything to the game, it just lets you use features that are otherwise inaccessible. The TBoGT meter must be wrong.
