higher Top Speed this time?

When measuring the time and calculate it with the distance, the top speed was about 90-100 mph in GTA4. ( without mods)

I dont know where GTA Wiki guys got their top speed number from cause 200 mp/h is ridicilous.

Nontheless, it felt pretty slow even when on top speed. But that wasnt really a big deal as there werent many places to reach top speed without bumbing to objects or traffic. I hope we get a higher top speed/ generel speed in GTAV now that we get long highways in the dessert and countryside.

The actual top speed in GTA IV was 178mph. No car could go that fast though.

That is the top speed. It's just that R* decided to not make any cars that can go that fast. You can't even go faster than 178mph with mods.

IV felt fast enough to me. I would like V to feel slightly faster though. Don't care about actual speed numbers.

I dont get you.

But you can measure it yourself. No car will get over 100mph. At least on xbox. I dont k ow about ps3 and PC

It would be easier to drive faster in V than IV because less cars in countryside / Blaine county I hope.

What is it that you don't get? The handling.dat file can be changed to make cars go faster, the only reason they drive at a maximum of 100mph is because Rockstar limited them intentionally. However, the top speed that all vehicles could potentially go and that the game engine allows is 178mph.

Yet the Comet was capable of 217 mph and the Police Stinger 240 mph on PS3.

Goodness knows what pirated copy of the game you guys were playing.

The Comet and Police Stinger APPEARED to go that fast. In reality at their max speed was actually about 100.

You do realize that at 240 MPH, you would be travelling 4 miles every minute, and therefore would cross the entire city in two minutes, right?

As long as it appears that way, I don't see the problem.

I hope they increase it. They have to if they are giving us cars based on ferrrari's and bugatti's! Cars felt so damn slow in IV. Maybe they could add a motion blur effect so that it doesn't make pop in as noticeable at high speeds.

Speeds in games especially open world games are relative and not comparable to real life speeds. For instance; 40 mph can be comparable to 80 mph in real life. It's more about making it seem to go 'fast' then having it actually go fast as that would put far too much weight on the engine. Besides, as it is in real life acceleration is much more important than top speed.

not really a prob in a jet. U are high up and it doesnt need to load all details as it would in a car on the ground

Unless you do some low flying, in which case, more textures will have to be loaded.

Quite the contrary, but hey, I'll leave naivety to those who enjoy it...

The Sultan had a top speed of 178mph and that weighed 1400kg and was powered by a 3.5

Hope tuned cars like the Sultan RS (Highly likely to return, might appear in some of the Street Races) have a transmission whine, and shift faster, I swear, it seemed like the Sultan RS had the default trans from the stock Sultan. suicidal.gif

What do you think will be the top speed with the faster fighter jet?

And will you be able to eject from jets, before they crash, using a parachute?

Sorry for my bad english, do you get it?

I hope its faster than in GTA SA. But im pretty sure it will be alot faster due the way longer draw distance and huger map.

And eject could be pretty obvious. At least I hope so

Just because you read it on the GTA wiki doesn't make it true. I tested it in-game and the top speed is 178 mph or 287 km/h.

Actually read from here; "All data is taken straight from game files."

You failed.

According to my ELFC, during No.3 in TBoGT I reached 223 mph so there's more evidence that you're info isn't legit.

I don't know if you're daft or what, I've tested it by applying the max speed with a trainer, not driving around the airport or attempting to measure in game length. The game engine does not allow you to exceed 178mph.

EDIT: Here's an old thread on it: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=472329

So you modded the game?

TBH I think you're talking nonsense. In TBoGT in the mission No.3 the Bullet GT is capable of speeds in excess of 230 mph, mine got 232mph. And my PS3 has no mods whatsoever.

I didn't mod the game, the trainer doesn't add anything to the game, it just lets you use features that are otherwise inaccessible. The TBoGT meter must be wrong.
