I think it would be cool. Lets say Franklin gets arrested and put in jail for 30 in-game days. You have a few options. Wait for him to get out, pay him out or break him out. That would be cool as f*ck. Also, with Franklin you could have a system where you need to look out for other rival gangmembers in jail.

When GTA IV was coming out, there was a trailer with Niko walking towards the camera. The background would change and cycled through different areas in Liberty City, one of those was a prison. That gave me the idea that at some point in the story, Niko would get busted (like how CJ got busted at the end of the Los Santos chapter) and there would be a prison segment in the game. There could be some side activities and stuff to do while you're there. The one problem would be that people could get bored of it, and want to explore the map instead of being stuck in prison.

That's why GTA V would be the perfect game to have a prison segment in it if Rockstar ever wanted to do one. If you wanted to explore the map instead of being stuck in jail finishing up that mission arc, you could switch over to the other two protagonists.

This, a jail system would be epic!

They should put you in a jail only if they manage to arrest you at 5 stars (which happens very rarely).

So that we won't go to jail very often and we'd still get there if we wanted.

You know what would be cool? If you didn't buy the game. Let someone else who can really appreciate the game play it.

Go play Angry Birds or something.

To put it simply, No thanks.

If there were to be side-mission prison busts, I would rather they be busting out people for cash or something.

Not a jail system, just a prison mission arc where you eventually are released or broken out. Getting sent to prison every time you get busted playing the game would be terrible.

Us GTA fans, we don't wanna feel obligated to do something, or anything.

We wanna feel like we can do without anything, and keep having fun.

We don't wanna feel like we have to wait to be let out of jail, we don't wanna have to bust out of jail every time to keep having fun.

And we certainly don't wanna feel like we have to play as a certain character cause our favorite character is in jail.

In certains parts like that in games, it feels like you're fighting the game itself in order to get to fun, and that is the last thing a game should have.

You could say the same for "Oh, I don't want to have to play as two other guys just to progress the story!"

So you're still going to have the "problem" of having to play as a different character come release time.

Talking about free-roam, the main thing in GTA.

The thing that everyone does after finishing the story.

My point still stands, everyone hated having to eat in San Andreas, but no one minded choosing to go eat hot dogs to regain health.

GTA 4 had 2 DLCs, and 2 DLC characters, you had to play as them (In the complete edition, to complete the whole game, you had to) but people still played as their favorite character after finished everything (That is, if they didn't really care for all the DLC features)

Since today, getting busted had NO consequences.

Weapons away, 500$ gone, goodbye sir.

I think the fact now we can play with 3 characters should affect also the jail system: the more stars you have when you get arrested, the more you stay in prison. Same thing if you get "killed" (let's say in that case you are seriously wounded) by bolice.

1 star = 5 mins (you really must be an idiot if you get busted in this case)

2 stars = 10 mins.

3 stars = 20mins.

4 stars = 30 mins.

5 stars = a whole day (game time).

This would make us fight harder to not be arrested if we like to play with that specific character more, and would finally set a difference between dying accidentally and being arrested/killed by police. If they want to make the game really evolve, i think they have to change also these basic patterns that exist since 2D era. They were good for past generations, not today.

Again, fighting the game and striving to have its fun makes for a terrible game.

Also, 30 minutes is so much more than enough for people who loved for a second to return the game.

A great number of people agree that going to jail would ruin GTA.

and they are all wrong. Just a bunch of self centered ppl who want the game catered to their own likes. R* could just add an option to skip like the taxi ride for those who dont want to stay and their selfish gripe is no more. It could go like this...

BUT THE BENZ

Breaking a protag out of prison will be part of the main-story arc I hope. It would be too much to have it happen to you regularly when you get caught. Posting bail money or something, getting locked up, breaking out of prison again and again. Imagine you ending up in every prison there is in Cali after some time (don't know how many there is) and the wardens would welcome you like OH THERE IS MR. HOUDINI, again...

I guess that in the game depending on what character you're playing with, you will be locked up at some point and the other two will have to bust you out. Like, a getaway gone wrong, one man left behind, goes to jail, and the others will have to get him back. Would be awesome really. I think it's possible to have jail involment for that main story arc, but not every occasion you get randomly busted.

Prison Break, yo. Imagine the two protags planning the break out, hiring a few guys to do the job, and then an auto switch occurs and you get to play as the guy in jail and you'd have to shank a dude during lunch just cause he was trying to shank you first. Well, that's jail. Auto switch again and you're back to locking your approach to free your friend from prison.

and they are all wrong. Just a bunch of self centered ppl who want the game catered to their own likes. R* could just add an option to skip like the taxi ride for those who dont want to stay and their selfish gripe is no more. It could go like this...

1) Get busted with 3 stars or less and its like normal. You spawn outside the station.

2) Get busted with 4 stars or more and you spend a night in the city jail. It would be a large holding cell with like maybe 10 other characters in it. You can go to sleep and skip to the next day or free roam. During free roam you might end up in a fight wether you started it or they did and you could also possibly meet side mission characters or future freeworld hookups.

3) Get busted with 4 stars or more 3 times and you go to prison for either a week or month whichever works the best with the game. Like the city jail you can sleep and skip except the options would be a) skip one day/week or b) skip whole sentence. Also like city jail you can choose to stay and free roam and fight, do side misisons and even meet freeworld hookups. GTA 4 had random characters you could do mission for scattered around the map. They could put some of those ppl in jail too. Lastly, and probably the best part about a prison is now that we can switch characters we could switch to a friend and go bust our buddy out. biggrin.gif And when you break out of prision it should result in you being wanted for the rest of your sentence. So if you got served a month and broke out after 2 weeks then you would be wanted for 2 in game weeks then the cops will call off the search. This means hats, masks, tinted windows, etc. would become very helpful to keep NPC's from spotting you and calling the cops.

This way everyone is happy. Ppl who dont like it ca skip and ppl who like it can stay. It also gives us a reason to actually give up unlike GTA4. I mean in GTA4 I always ran regardless but with this system say you reach 3 stars. You can keep trying to escape or give up so you dont reach 4 stars and have to spend that night in jail.

I'm not even gonna bother going out of my way to list the hundreds of reasons as to why you're a minority to the minority.

I'm just gonna say this probably wont be in anyway, Rockstar would never shove such a huge dick down the throat of GTA.

...Can anyone please enlighten me whats so exciting about being able to go to jail in COMPUTER GAME? ...whats the purpose? ...cause i seriously can't see any point! ok i get it i'm being punished, but whats next? am i getting out? am i waiting for something? ...anyone? the purpose of a prison in REAL life is to make person realize he was D*ck and wishes to change and he has a lot to think about for his crimes! But why would you punish a "gamer" what for? because he ran over 80 yo cpu controlled grandma, that were crossing the street with lawnmower? lol.giflol.gif ...or because i've punched the crap out of pixelated comic character, because he was impersonating my favorite movie star/singer?... gimme a break! some of you people give me some serious laughs! lol.gif

Well you see young boy, the Nazis are attacking, and we must fight back by any means necessary, so what we're gonna do is...

Drop the soap.

In mafia 2 has a jail chapter, it was awesome.

Were you playing the same game I was? Because I played through a chapter in which I slowly walked through 3 hallways having repetitive fist fights, then it ends with toilet cleaning and fighting off a hairy rapist. It was literally the worst thing I have ever played in my life.

I mean if you want mafia II, why not just play mafia II and leave it out of GTA?
