Shpati
Hi guys, I am downloading GTA 4 via steam right now, and I was curious to know how well my laptop can run this game. I have it on xbox already, but the game runs at such low fps it is a joke. so i thought id give the pc version a try since it was dirt cheap this past weekend on steam. anyway, here are my system specs. Intel i7 1.6GHz, turbo boost to 2.8. quad core with ht technology ATI HD Mobility 5730 8GB of RAM, 1333 MHZ 7200 RPM HDD I usually like to play my games with at least x2 aa basic, anisotropic filter x16, i don't mind lowering view distances, max textures and details, max resolution, i will sacrifice animations and effects. I always turn off shadows if it provides major fps boost. I read that this game is so hard to run on PC, even after all these years. It would be nice if RS would optimize the game nice for PC lol. I can't even run San Andreas on max settings with constant 60 fps on my laptop.
luceberg
You will be lucky if GTA 4 plays at 20fps on that pc. The reason why it is so slow is that GTA 4 is very cpu dependant. It will use only 3 of your 8 core i7. There will not be much turbo boost either, as the 2.8Ghz quoted is for a single core only. If you want to run it better than an xbox, you need a quad core cpu running at over 3Ghz with a graphics card capable of running at your chosen resolution, and not a laptop. unc13bud
original poster, that system wouldn't run but medium settings anyway, you sound to me like one of those gamers who are trying to run all their games on high\very high settings. and get a laptop cooler, all you laptop guys need to have coolers to run GTA IV!!! edit: some systems can't run 60 fps no matter how low their settings Edited May 11, 2013 by unc13bud

I usually run medium settings anyway. World of WarCraft, StarCraft II, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. I just like having a little AA, high resolution and textures. I always take off shadows, which pretty much adds 30 FPS to all the games I play. Yea, I already got a laptop cooler. And I also remove my bottom panel when I game so my cooler can send direct cool air to the GPU and CPU. I just cleaned all the dust out of my laptop as well. I think I'm good to go. I'm just hoping I can run it at a steady 30 FPS. I am going to overclock my GPU, so that should help a little bit. I'm surprised the 360 version cannot even run it at a steady 30 FPS. Such poor optimization. And the graphics for this game are not even that good.
