I Luke
Well i feel its gonna suck mainly because Ubisoft already released a lot of gameplay previews to hype it up. When companies do this its cuz they have no faith in the product. I mean we barely saw gameplay in V (yes some of the trailers were gameplay) and from what I've seen, V will dominate all games coming out the next few years...... Plus idk if WD has animals I feel like some of you are glued to GTA and you'll defend it no matter what. I find it rather stupid actually. This guys head is too far stuck up his ass tbh. allftw
Knowing Ubisoft I can say like many others that it looks like the game will suffer the same problem with other Ubi games. We already have the viewpoint/outpost thing, preventing potential crimes is your standard side mission, add to that a roughly 15 hour campaign with missions where you won't be able to stray too far away from the predesigned path (Hacked the wrong thing? Mission failed. Walked into the wrong street? Mission failed...) and you have the classic Ubi formula with a new twist. Obviously I'm saying this solely based experience and I'd love to be proven wrong and have a masterpiece in our hands but it's the same thing with every new IP that looks promising. People hype it way too much and it just ends up being disappointing. Without falling too much into the hype I'd say Watch Dogs will be a good, fun game but eventually it will be forgettable. As I said though I'd love to be proven wrong.
Buffalo Soldier
Nah. Whilst I am getting Watch Dogs and do think it looks amazing - it's nothing more than a GTA IV and Hitman Absolution rip-off.
Graven
Man have I tried other open world games but never finished them. It's the feeling, GTA is just so original and has that magic. The story, humor, replay value, variety, detail.
Eternal Moonshine
But..GTA V isn't going to be the only masterpiece that is coming out this Fall. There is another game. A game that might potentially be better. I stopped reading

Blacknwhite8286
there has always been games that try to take GTA's crown, but in the end Watch dogs no matter how good it is will never be loved like gta..Im sure GTAV will crush all records
d3ex2
Alright, let's say Watch Dogs does become popular and sell a lot of copies. Ubisoft will whore it out and release a new version each year. We'll see Watch Dogs "catch up" to GTA in the next 5 years or so. Watch Dogs VI will be out by the time Rockstar releases GTA VI. GTA has been around for over 15 years and Watch Dogs hasn't even been released yet. I can't stand Ubisoft games. Buggy as sh*t, controls are awkward and frustration, performance is terrible and looks ugly.
Happyness
Watch Dogs will fail. GTA will always be the best sandbox free roam action game. Not even going to waste the money on this Watch Dogs sh*t - Id even f*ckin buy SR4 before that sh*t Fanboy spotted. GTA WILL fall one day, mark my words. And something better (By R* probably will pop up)
Mário César Baldessar Moro
They are two different games. I doubt it will be so sandbox as GTA. Open world action in third person for sure, but still seem different styles. You can prefer WD than GTA V, in the same way you can prefer a FPS. Masher8559
I'm looking forward to both games. Once i've played through both for many hours then i can decide which game i personally think is better.

DeafMetal
This game is absolutely my first buy whenever I get a ps4, BUT I'm very skeptical on it because Ubisoft has a history of rushing things as well as the fact that it's a launch game. Launch games are usually some of the worst games for consoles because the developers are either limiting the game mechanics to fit on the old consoles too or they're unfamiliar with the new architecture. It will probably be limited even more than most launch titles, because it's a cross generation game. So either the PC & Next Gen versions are entirely different, or it will just be graphical fidelity & a few improved effects. Still no one has improved on Euphoria animation, which I hope more games use next gen.
nigelhere9901
Can't wait for Watch Dogs too, after Far Cry 3, I think Ubi Montreal can definitely pull some great stuff. But GTA V is something you cannot compare, It's too supreme to be comparable.
Intstringeger
I plan on playing both of them. But while I can't wait for GTA V to release I most likely will wait until next gen to play Watch Dogs; and I'm not buying a next gen console at launch or any time soon. Watch Dogs looks like it has potential to be a great game, but Ubisoft has disappointed me repeatedly in the past. R* never has. But, as others have already said, these games are more different than most people seem to believe. WD would most likely not even be one real big map to explore but it would be split into zones with loading times in between like Assassin's Creed. I really would love for WD to be a masterpiece, that would only benefit us gamers. But right now I prefer to be cautious, last year the previews and the hype for AC3 were also very promising, hinting at a game that would beat Red Dead Redemption fair and square; it ended up being "just" a good game but fell quite short of the greatness of RDR. wwinterj
Launch games are usually some of the worst games for consoles because the developers are either limiting the game mechanics to fit on the old consoles too or they're unfamiliar with the new architecture. This is why I'm getting Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag on the PS3. I don't see the difference between the PS3 and PS4 version been anything to get hot and bothered about. By the time I'd get a PS4 I'd imagine Watch Dogs 2 will be out and Assassins Creed V. I mean Ubisoft are already working on yet another Assassins Creed game and by then developers will know the consoles that bit more. The first year at least of any consoles life is the worst. I Luke
Just because they've added it to the next gen consoles too doesn't mean it's going to be bad. They said they've worked on it for 4 1/2 years which is around the same for V. Just look at bf4.

.dre.
The thing about Ubisoft is that they do have great ideas but they implement them so horribly. I will still pick up this game but it's still not an incentive to get a next gen console for it.
Dick Justice
Watch Dogs is so reminiscent of the original Assassin's Creed game. It's coming out on a brand-new console, it looks spectacular and has a great idea behind it, but also looks as though it will have repetitive gameplay that isn't too deep. The hacking system seems quite in-depth, but you can't pretend like the point-and-click system will actually maintain fun for hours on end. This post really doesn't even take into account V as well. Watch Dogs will be to V what Assassin's Creed was to IV; two completely different games that get compared at the time because of nearby releases. Certinty
Both games look great. I'll get GTA V at launch and probably wait for the PS4 to get Watch Dogs on launch day. Even IF Watch Dogs does turn out to be repetitive like previous Ubisoft games, the open world and atmosphere the game seems to have will be good enough for me to love it. ChronoStinger
From what i've seen and heard about Watch Dogs and then comparing it to what i've seen and heard about GTAV i got to say, that i dislike what i hear and see about WD so far! first and the most important thing - a CITY! it doesn't look impressive to me, just like i wasn't impressed with Sleeping Dogs! I don't want to abuse anyone so lets just say, i don't like the city "feel" and "atmosphere" of both of these games (WD and SD i mean!...) as opposed to GTAV's location! ...thats one of the reasons, another being - too much emphasis onto hacking mechanics in WD! Its like every single news they post, they mention it! As of now we know almost nothing about WD other than the fact, that we can hack technics and its bloody awesome! And i don't like it! Maybe once they'll start to spit more info about that game i will start to care, but graphics and animation alone never tended to impress me and has never been the most important thing to me and with WD's case, it does indeed look like the case to me! There's a lot of graphics, but not enough of gameplay! ...So my verdict is that - NO! WD won't be better than GTAV and it sure as hell won't outsell it! Thats it... Distrom
agree, Watch Dogs is shaping up to be an awesome game, not better than GTA V, but, it´s made by ubisoft, so expect it to be ful l of glithces , btw why didn´t you posted this in the gaming section? ChocoFrosty
CVG said there are only 65 types of cars. I don't know why I posted this. I love GTA to death, but I see nothing wrong with enjoying WD, too. We don't have to pick sides.

They've actually done it right, R* haven't. R* will lose sales.. Sure it won't be a significant amount but they will. That's my point. Make the game for this gen consoles and PC then port the PC version to next gen consoles or even port the current gen version to next gen consoles adding a graphics update, physics and so on. Been as they didn't know when next gen consoles would come out. Either way Watch Dogs and AC 4 are not built from the ground up on next gen consoles so I'm simply not interested in next gen versions. I'll buy them both on the PS3. I've been over this a lot of times but to me personally R* made the right move. The bigger market is this gen console base and as they said themselves the best games come out at the end of a current gen consoles life because they know how to work with it. Porting it to next gen might happen down the road but I believe R* want to make a big impact on next gen so rather than port a game to please a small costumer base and spend all the time, money and resources doing so they will wait and then release a completely new game with possibly a new engine on next gen consoles much like they did with GTA IV. This is the best way to do it as by then the next gen consumer base will be large enough to warrant spending all that cash making a game as you can guarantee a profit. Next gen consoles will not be relevant until at least a year or two after release. Just as previous console cycles before them.
