The America's weren't first "discovered until 1492," people have been living there for thousands of years before Columbus' "discovery". The Western Hemisphere has been inhabited for the past 16,500–13,000 years, first discovered by humans traveling East through Asia in search of new land during migration. Due to the fact the ice-age lowered ocean water levels, it uncovered a land bridge which is usually submerged connecting Alaska to North Eastern Russia. Even so, the Vikings technically discovered America about 500 years before Columbus did, however they didn't stay very long due to poor relations with the Natives who pretty much forced them out. On topic: I've always thought that the Japanese have a weird taste in video games, but I've heard that they've played previous GTA's in the past, so this really isn't too odd. It's a prevalent part of their culture that reaches us, but it's not all there is. There's plenty of people into the more grounded, macho-esque nature of Western media, and maybe even those who are tired of the view of Japan as the "land of anime and anime-esque media". They simply can't seem to get sick of Monster Hunter and i find it nothing special, but ok...that's not too bad. But they have ugly ass horrible looking games and they simply love them. They also don't seem to mind getting games that after ten years have barely changed/evolved. Of course i dont mean every Japanese person is like that, hell no.
