BlackNoise
I've never been a fan of the Saints Row series, but the new one looks like fun. It's definitely different.

dontdieb4september
That Looks awful, I once purchased a saints row.. Cant remember if it was 2 or 3 (which says a lot). It is just to cartoony and unrealistic for me and I didnt enjoy anything about it. It wasnt quirky fun, It was kinda repetative and cheesy. Alien ships and super powers are not my kinda thing. marcx
Am I the only one who NEVER played any Saints Raw game? Maybe I'll try SR4. Did I miss something?
EvilFuture
Wow, what have they done with this series? I remember playing the first one, it felt kinda like San Andreas with better graphics and was centered around gangs. Here's a gameplay video, look at the difference! Well... that actually looks like a decent game. WAY better than SR4.

From my short experience I would say if you were under the age of 12/13 you would probably find it fun for a few days/weeks. Otherwise avoid and save your money. rjmthe2nd
LOL SR4 Is gonna flop, no new graphics, same city and all just with super powers.
ALeSsAnDrO
SR4 was originally going to be a SR3 DLC. It's the same graphics, same city, same user interface, even same audio effects. Obviosly, this means very low development costs. Someone decided it would be best released in August (trying to snatch up some sales from GTA gamers hungry for some open worldness). The SR franchise, even though it was always subpar, at least made some sense. Now they're just trying to focus on silliness and over the top, since they can't compete with the big dogs like Square, Rockstar, Ubisoft.
theNGclan
I love how people are complaining about how SR4 was originally going to be a DLC. SR4 modifies the engine to an extent where it HAS to be another game. If you watch the gameplay trailer, they obviously did ALOT of tweaking to the engine. Don't like it, don't buy it. OmegaEvolution
SR4 was originally going to be a SR3 DLC. This is their biggest mistake with SR4, they obviously don't want to put the resources into developing anything original with the sale so they are just padding out an unused DLC and selling it at full price. Kill Frenzy!
Never played Saints Row, looks like sh*t, graphics sucks and very unrealistic. I would prefer Just Cause 3, I would buy that game.

Happyness
Not this again... Whatever it kinda looks like SR3 and i enjoyed playing SR3 in the co-op mode. But not every open world game is sh*t get over it Who said EVERY open world (Except GTA) sucks? you're narrow minded. i can name a TON of open world games that are good. only Saints Row 3 onwards sucks (as members keep saying, never played ANY SR game) I see that you're new here, just wait a bit and take a look at other games, they're all getting bashed because GTA V is king, hurr durr. Not really 'new' been here since mid-late 2010. (as a guest) i'm only 'new' to being a member here. keep that in mind. read my signature. Didn't blame you bro or something, but people here tend to bash any game that is open-world, most notably Saints Row and Watch Dogs. They can't accept the fact that Watch Dogs may compete. spiderman3000
if GTA V fanboys can get their heads out of their asses they will see Saints Row IV cant be compared to gta v AT ALL. How the f*ck can you compare a game that focuses completely on having mindless fun(which it does very well at) to a game which focuses on exploration and story? Saints Row IV looks very fun to play

kudoboi
do we really need another GTAV VS *insert random game title* thread? honestly you can't even compare SR4 to V anymore because they are completely different. the only similarity at this point that they have is that both are open world. GTA and SR have a complete different target group. And actually SR4 looks like HUGE fun to me. Ill defenitly get it for a lower price But some people here don't get it. They can't stop comparing apples and oranges This is how the Grand Theft Auto series is described at Wikipedia: "Gameplay focuses on an open world where the player can choose missions to progress an overall story, as well as engaging in side activities, all consisting of action-adventure, driving, occasional role-playing, stealth, and racing elements. The subject of the games is usually a comedic satire of American culture, but the series has gained controversy for its adult nature and violent themes." How much of that quote CAN'T be used do describe the Saints Row series? if you put it that way, does that mean that we can compare retro city rampage or prototype to gta V? And heres how Wikipedia describes the gameplay of Saints Row: An emphasis is put on urban warfare; the player character is affiliated with a hip-hop cultured street gang known as the 3rd Street Saints. Game missions are structurally divided into separate mission arcs. These mission arcs do not intertwine but can be played through altogether at once or separately by the player. Missions are unlocked by accruing respect points; respect is game currency earned by playing non-story mini-games known as activities and diversions.[17] Customization also constitutes a large portion of gameplay. The player has the ability to customise their character's appearance and clothing, can take certain vehicles to chop shops for modification and in Saints Row 2 is able to decorate the interior of in-game safehouses and refine the behaviour of the Third Street Saints gang.[18] How much of that ISNT in GTA? You might be missing my point, but I think I understand why you guys are against comparisons. It's not about comparing the specific story lines or the smaller unique features, because using that logic you couldn't even compare GTA SA to IV or IV to V. It's about the gameplay/type of game. It's the reason COD will always be compared to BF and even Halo. It's the type of gameplay, not the game itself. But anyways, it's the same basic style of gameplay. And you cheated. Why didn't you use this quote, which applies to ALL SR games? "The series combines elements of action, adventure and vehicular gameplay. The player can freely roam the virtual world on foot or by use of vehicles and make use of an array of weapon and mêlée based combat. Illegal activity such as engaging computer-controlled civilians and police officers will instigate a proactive and potentially lethal response from authoritative figures. In the instance of death or arrest, the player will respawn at a nearby hospital or police station." How much of that ISNT in GTA?
