Tire wearing

I think it would be cool at if your tires got worn from drifting too much or braking too much. Since you could have car customization then you could purchase new tires after being worn. That would be awesome

...let's buy car insurance too guys!

EDIT: IMO it could be done well and work, but It would have to be really hard to wear out a tire or break a bead.

I honestly don't know how I feel about this. I usually love this type of stuff in racing games, but GTA isn't just a racing game, so it could be a hassle if I wasn't paying attention to it.

I wouldn't hate it, but I'm not sure what it would add to the experience. dontgetit.gif

Terrible idea. This is the kind of thing that sounds good in theory (not to me though), but would suck in reality. No thanks.

Kill Frenzy!

Sure, you'll be stuck in the tall mountains, how will you expect an other car? I don't use cheats.

There is realism and then there is to much realism. Next you'll want us to take a dump, brush our teeth, sleep in real time and so on. This isn't The Sims.

They should add an option "Do you want this game to be fun" and if they select no then their tires will wear smile.gif

Ok, this wouldn't so much ruin pacing as it would STAB IT WITH A CHAINSAW!

For f*ck's sake, I mean, I don't want fuel either (except as an option), but at least there you'll be at the station for a maximum of 30 seconds. It takes 5 minutes to change a f*cking tire. Why would anyone want to do that? For that matter, why suggest it as a mandatory feature that EVERYONE WOULD BE FORCED TO DO?!

I mean, what, should we have to also do virtual diet and exercise?

"Wasn't that in san andreas?"

And thank christ that was taken out!

Tyre wear, brake wear, and wear and tear that affects the ability to steer are in IV, so I expect them to be in V.

Iif you did a burnout for too long in IV, your tires would eventually wear out, so it's not impossible, but them going off while driving, without getting shot is unlikely.

.

If I could insure one car, and that makes it stay where you leave it or gets delivered to safehouse upon destruction. It makes sense and is useful.

OP: tyre wear from drifting (as it is in IV) already happens.

And they should make u get an oil change, and get your suspension checked every now and then and sometimes your car dash lights will fail and u need 2 get those fixed and sometimes the u need to buy a new tranny and.....

Maybe this is getting a bit ridiculous.

Sounds like a bad idea.

I want to have fun, not go and change tires all the time.

Maybe we should check the oil and be required to drive under the speed-limit aswell?

Yeah, the tires only break if you burnout for like 30 seconds though.

You can however drive the care and slide around as much as you like without changing tires.

Didn't think that one through, eh?

How about uhhhmm...no? That's clearly too much realism and it won't happen the way you described it. They will pop when you do donuts for too long. No need to step away from that feature. It gives the right feeling about realism without making the game annoying.

the feature in GTA 4 with how the tires pop after doing a burnout for a while i think sucks, it happens unrealistically quick, you would need like 1000hp to pop tyres that quick in real life if not more.

a way better system i think would be that the tyres don't wear unless you do a consistent burnout for the amount of time it would take for tires to pop in the GTA 4, but they only wear instead of pop, rendering the car slightly less grippy on the road, they should wear out more and more each time you repeat it, until the car becomes very difficult to handle and eventually pop.

to summarise,

tires DO NOT wear unless you do a burnout for more than say 30 seconds or so.

doing a burnout for 30+ seconds will result in the tyres becoming worn.

a constant burnout of 5 minutes would result in tyres deflating then eventually being shredded off the rim

separate burnouts of 30+ seconds will wear the tyres in stages, but not as drastically as a constant 5 minute burnout

tire life will be roughly 10 minutes in total if there are breaks between each burnout at the 30 to 50 second mark (allowing the tires to cool)

5 1 minute burnouts will be the maximum you can get out of a set of tires.

by allowing the tyres to cool, i mean just stopping the burnout for a moment, like you would to avoid popped tyres in GTA 4

the maths probably doesn't really add up all that perfectly here, but this is just for example to put my idea across

I think that this keeps every one happy and is also much better than how it was in GTA 4, as normal use will not wear the tyres, but doing a burnout for 30+ seconds will cause wear, with this system you can do much longer burnouts (obviously) which means way more fun and the wear will make driving slightly more challenging.

People who hate realism win

People who love realism win

Whoever has to script this, maybe not so much win.
