Raavi
20-30 fps is what we'll get (imo) and I'm cool with it. I've played games on consoles and PC's (overclocked and under spec) so I've seen plenty. 25fps (average for what I'm talking about) is not the smoothest looking/running game but it's by far not the jerkiest either. I notice the FPS a LOT more when on a PC as to when I'm on a console so I really don't think we should worry. RDR was fine for me (2008 xbox still going strong today) as was GTA4, MP3, BF3 etc etc. We're going to be immersed in action and even if the frame rate does drop it'll be your own judgement that brings you out of the environment not the games' fps. If your looking for faults/hang-ups then you WILL find them. Give and take guys. Take everything with a pinch of salt and it'll be sweet (no pun intended). This game will rock and you can't let small errors get in the way of the triumphs. Arrgh! So I should just interpolate the missing frames in my head to get a good gaming experience? Sorry, but I'm unable to do that. Maybe my brain power is insufficient. GTA V has a good chance of becoming a true masterpiece. Really - I'm talking best-game-ever type sh*t. I am super excited about the game! But nevertheless, FPS dropping around 20 and below WILL get in the way of me enjoying the game - no matter how much salt I eat on the side. Imagine during an incredible shoot out, in the middle of explosions, you try to aim at your enemies but it becomes much harder when the game turns into a slide show. Not fun. Fingers crossed for R* realizing this. I'm sure Rockstar won't release the with flipbook FPS. Just have a little faith in 'm. RDR was great, framerate never bothered me one bit. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise
TheMisanthrope
How weird everyone is talking about frame rate problems. I was just playing GTA IV on the Xbox and sh*t was exploding and the cops were firing at me from the helicopter and all that good stuff. And it was bogging down like crazy it was like lag online I've never really had that problem. Now I played both GTA IV, MP3 and RDR throughout the day on the PS3 and none of them did I experience any kind of frame rate problems. I've never had that happen in RDR like you explained. However Far Cry 3 does get pretty bad from time to time. But other than that my PS3 I've never really had problems with frame rate issues. BUT I do expect a few problems from GTA V I mean if it's as big as they say it is it's gonna f*ck up once in a while. However I doubt it's going to ruin the experience R* knows what they're doing. Graven
Depends what You consider smooth. Old Hollywood movies are smooth 24fps. 30fps is enough, what's worse is jerky and stuttering gameplay. If You make huge explosions in IV it drops into 5fps. I hope it will be more stable.
Topsu
It will be horrible. I have no idea why Rockstar decided to make the god game for sh*tty hardware. Sad really.
SlappyPwnsAss
Well, R* found out a way to put ALOT of content into one game and not make it lag. Im sure R* wouldnt refuse to make GTA 5 for next gen, just so they could release a laggy game for PS3 and Xbox 360. Just think for a second... Im sure R* wouldnt refuse to make GTA 5 for next gen, just so they could release a laggy game for PS3 and Xbox 360. Just think for a second... just because it has huge content and huge map doesnt makes it laggy. Some people sound like they think the whole map with all details and content is loaded all the time ( i dont mean you). If theres not much more going on on the screen as in RDR it would be as smooth as RDR. But in RDR there wasnt that much stuff going on on the screen. GTA has huge buildings, alot of Peds, Cars and all that has to run smooth when being chased by police. so at the end, with the updated graphics I suggest it will run worse than GTA4 even though they have optimized RAGE already. But I hope Im wrong.
Sneakerhead.
I think it will, some reviewers said it ran great/decent. (I forgot which ones) And it seems like the FPS whores are here already.

GO TO TOP OF THIS POST Probably replying to a person who is too excited about GTA V to actually discuss things reasonably, but what the heck. Here's some more whining: Frame rate is not an "lickle tiny ickle" thing that can be ignored if not good. It's the whole basis of everything else in the game. It defines whether you can be immersed in the game world, or be constantly aware that you're playing a game that is not running that well. Do you want to play the "game of epic greatness" at 1 FPS? I don't. There is a threshold for smooth motion you know and I suspect that for most people it is a little higher than for you. You seem to be blessed with the ability to enjoy games at any frame rate! Lucky bastard! Frame rate of 20 would most certainly make the game less enjoyable. It's horrible to think that we have this perfect game and it's choppy as hell. I'm sure R* is trying to make this game run smoother than IV - and I certainly hope they will succeed! Here's for constant 30 FPS and above!

Here's for constant 30 FPS and above! Your opening few lines are ironic considering I'm the 1 being more accepting and reasonable about the fact that we can't have everything... 80 fps would be brilliant. 10 fps would be freaking stupid. 30 fps would be cool. 25 fps is what I think we'll get. I agree the game won't be as smooth as we would all like given the scale of the game + current hardware, but I understand this and I won't let it get in the way of my enjoyment. If you can accept it then it won't bother you as much. I suppose seeing these games and thinking back to pong I am more accepting and reasonable. Whining about it ain't gonna help matters. I too hope its 30 fps and I trust Rockstar will aim for this but considering all the content we're being given I don't mind sacrificing a few fps. So... OT - the game will be smooth enough to enjoy all the content that is included. Edited May 10, 2013 by gta5freemode4eva

That's rather odd because sites that analyse the crap out of these games, like Lens of truth and Digital foundry concluded that the 360 version was the best. Not sure about MP3, but it was about RDR and GTA IV. I've actually played GTA IV on both PS3 and 360, my buddy took his PS3 copy with him and tried it out here, framerate was just as bad. As for Far Cry 3. Just now i was watching a video of Watch_Dogs and a interview about it,it also showed some parts from FC3. It showed the camera panning around while the player had finished a outpost....OH MY at how stuttery that went, its not even funny. I'm actually surprised that i accepted that stuff and just kept playing. Seeing it now...it's really very bad.
