What Will It Be Like Without Cheats

So whenever III, Vice City, and San Andreas were released, I wasn't ever old enough to play gta. And then when IV came out, I didn't have a console to play it on at the time. By the time I got around to play all of those games, the cheats were already discovered. What I'm saying is, I've never played a GTA game without the ability to use cheats. However, with V, I'm getting it day one. So my question is, what do you think it will be like without cheats? Will it be hard for you to play without them till they're discovered, or will you actually enjoy it? And how long does it take for cheats to be discovered, like in IV's case?

 

I did a search for a similar topic, but nothing came up.

I only played with cheats in the III-era games (III, VC, SA). I didn't use cheats in GTA IV as they weren't really necessary. It's fun to play it how it was intended.

With V I'm only going to be using cheats in freeroam. Years ago I'd cheat in every game I could but it got boring after a while.

 

Having said that if the cheats aren't appealing and are simply "free health" I think I'll use them even less.

 

I want cheats like we've seen in pre-IV. You can do that stuff with a Trainer on PC, in fact that's mostly why I buy PC copies, but obviously there's no confirmation that is happening yet. Though I know I wouldn't still be playing IV today without the Trainer mods. They can easily fix that with super fun cheats though.

Some of the III era games are so badly broken, that cheats are necessary at times to even enjoy the game!

Unless they are fun cheats I'll never use them. I don't see any point of cheating in games, specially all the idiots that use them in multiplayer games... seriously if you don't have skill to play a game the way it's mean to be played don't play it, do something else... like jump from a bridge.

Similar to your situation, i was pretty young when i first played III, vice city, and SA, and i never really did any of the storyline because i was having too much fun with the cheats. Eventually i took the time to actually play the stories, and when i first played IV, i played through the whole story without cheats. I'll be doing the same thing with V, and to be honest i might not use cheats at all.

You will have a better experience playing without cheats. I played through Vice City Stories without cheats and ever since, I never used that sh*t again. IV was especially fun without cheats.

Yeah I'd expect a lot of the cheats to actually be discovered on day one.. So don't expect it to feel like much, silly topic.

I cheated to beat III and VC, but I was pretty young at the time. Since then I only play around with cheats after I beat the game. I don't have as much fun with cheats, but I think that's because they're not as random as they were in the III era.

 

I finally got a good PC, so I've been messing around with that Iron Man mod for GTA IV. Now I understand you PC guys.

If you don't want cheats, don't use them. Don't ruin it for people who do want them. I personally like both ways, recently I've been more into only buying a couple of guns and a limited amount of ammo and no cheats. But I enjoy cheats a lot too.

This is how I use cheats:

*Old games I already beat before (I just got GTA SA for PS3 for $15 so...yeah.)

*If a mission in really making me mad (Not enough guns, keep dying due to and overabundance of enemies)

*Free roam. I like to play cat & mouse with police, and when I know I'm screwed, I free myself.

 

And, people, don't say to get rid of cheats. They are optional. If you don't want it, don't use it.

It's like banning Windows phones.

You don't like 'em, but some people love 'em.

I never used cheats during storyline gameplay. I only use the cheats after I have gained 100% completion, or, in III-era games, I would create a savefile for serious gameplay, and make another for using cheats

No one of you guys didn't really respond the OT. He asked a question about IV, how much did it take to discover the cheats after it's release? My case was similar too! In the third era I had the PlayStation 2 but I took about 2-3 months to buy these games after it's release, so they cheats were already released too. In IV, I took 4 months to buy the game so the cheats were already released. This time with V I won't even use them, only in free mode or when I finished the storyline.

Well I imagine the strategy guide will be out the same day the game is, so the cheats will become known very quickly.

I used cheats in I II III VC SA and when I got around to playing IV I finished without cheats, it's the only GTA I've played without cheating. I think it will happen again in V until after I bet the game then ill use them.
