Obviously, whats the rush? A SandBox is cool for the exploration, following a map or a guide to do things makes no sense unless you're one of those that use tutorials and then tell to his friends "I've ended it in 3 days without any help, I rule".

But what I wanna see is how people will create guides for the underwater treasures... without GPS coordinates, without any directions, how they gona pull that of?

"You grab the rubber boat in the marina, then press the forward key and count to 10, then turn left and count to 8, then turn to right and count to 20, then right again and count to 40, then dive and look for a rock formation (be careful there might be sharks nearby), then look for an octopus and after passing by it, look to your left side and behind some squids you'll see a treasure chest".

I got 100% in RDR, but to be honest the hardest part of that was collecting all those dang herbs. That said, I still hope V has some sort of hidden package system going on.

The first few weeks after V comes out will be insane, because everybody will be reporting everything they see and do. I won't be able to stay off the forums.

Maybe I'll try and see how far I can get without any kind of guidance, but once I get stuck for more than 20min I'll have to search for a hint.

IF I'll try to do 100% then yeah, I'll use a guide.

But I haven't completed any game 100%, so I doubt I will do that with GTA V.

Always do try things without any guidance.

I don't buy guides either, that's what the Internet is for.

When I played GTA IV I only looked up the flying rats and the consequences of the decisions.

I will play the story, see if I can get 100% without a guide or YT or something like that. If I can't get to 100% by myself,

then I'm gonna use a guide

There's nothing bad about a guide if you play the story first without a guide and then do the things for 100% with a guide

I'll have a mix of both.

I'll play the game and do as much as I can on my own. Usually I'd finish the story then try get 100% but I'm gonna drag the story out for as long as possible while I explore and do other things to get that percentage up.

Once I finish the story and find myself struggling to get 100% I'll use a guide.

I´ll buy the guide with the game since I´ve done that for both GTA IV and San Andreas, mostly for it being a nice collectible though. This time I will go 100% hardcore; turning off the mini-map and try to memorize the city as I explore it and do the missions. Will probably start searching for collectibles and stuff for the 100 % after I´ve finished the story. Last time I finished GTA IV the last mission got me 100% and after that there was not much else to do. If the game is developed the way I hope for there will be three mostly different storylines, I really don´t want to change character unless the game makes me.

I remember, a couple of weeks after IV came out, I buyed the guide in English. Then, 2 or 3 months later, a friend of mine buyed the Dutch version of the guide and gave it to me when he didn't need it anymore. So, now I have 2 guides of GTA IV: One in English, the other in Dutch

Lol, I'm just gunna play the f*ckin game. If I come across something that is frustrating and lessening my enjoyment then Ill problem find help on the Internet.

If you brag about completing games without a guide you need to find a new skill

Hell yeah! The game is huge, and I want to explore the map, and discover everything myself.

I always say I would do it alone, but at some point I just need to look on the internet for help.

Not only to complete missions, but also to find maps with weapon locations, interesting places etc...

Yeah, I dare say if you play the game without EVER looking at anything to do with it, the majority of people are bound to miss sweet things

I will certainly give it a try without guide. I have played GTA IV by using them (like the Bradygames Strategy Guide, but also websites like GTA Wikia), but in GTA V I don't want to do that. You can actually learn of it and it could give you more time to complete the game IMO.

It seems you guys are agreeing with OP but 100% means all the collectables and whatever else they decide to add to the 100% list not just completing the story, I can't believe the majority of people will beat this game is lets say 40 hours and then play for several hundred trying to find every collectible without a guide and totally fail

Finding all collectables in GTA IV without guide, was a complete joke. You would literally have to fly walk, drive, trough the entire game, checking every single corner and rooftop in order to find them.

I never use guides to complete a game, I only use them to find remaining collectables to achieve 100%.

When 100% in GTA IV back when it came out, I had to use the flying rat guide, cause it's really hard to keep track of things when there are so many.

If they include collectables that are that hard in the new GTA game, I'll definetely use a guide to find them after completing everything else myself.

I can't believe anyone who answered yes here will complete the game 100% without any help at all. All liars!

I've never bought a guide in my life. It would ruin the exploration and unknowing feeling of what I've yet to discover.

I'm a pussy, no fun, and I will totally "ruin the game" by my disrespectful behaviour. This is according to some on here anyway. wink.gif Love you guys too xx

I don't have time or the inclination to spend 300 hours trying to pass one mission. If I fail a couple of times, I'll look up strategies.

I tend to use guides for any collectables and sometimes if I need a weapon fast, I'll look for a guide on pickups. I liked IV's way of showing you a rough idea of where things are. Those internet maps should be a great help if they include them again.

Uh, yeah, I've never needed a guide for a story mission or anything like that, but like others said, the flying rats for instance would be nothing short of ridiculous without a guide.

Only thing I'll search online is the many secrets hidden behind the game, collectibles and such will be by myself.

This is the same thing i'll do.

I hope they don't do another key to the city competition. Think of all the people who have been waiting 5 years for the game just to rush through it to get a fancy keychain. Thats like preparing a meal over several days just to stuff the whole thing in your mouth within 10 minutes.

I never understood why someone uses a strategy guide or similar. I mean it's just a game which has the function to entertain you. And I was never interested in hidden packages or collecting something in GTA. This searching was annoying, so if I find something, I will get it, but I won't search them.

Kind of makes the game pointless if you fail "a couple of times" and give up.. You will complete the game so fast.. wheres the joy in that.

Ah well to each their own.

1st of all I'll be playing multi-player with my friends more than single player. I will get the guide but I'll only use it as a back-up and for sourcing things that are of interest to me so it won't be used for missions when I actually do them. I'm not one for going for 100% anyways as all it gives you in an achievement. If it gives us access to a certain range of vehicles/weapons then I will go for 100% and I'll use the book to help me so I'm not waiting forever to get them.

No chance. some things are too difficult without guides.

hell, even with an online guide It took me 6 months to find 200 pigeons in IV, had I not used one I would have never found them.

I'll do the story without cheats or reading about the missions ahead of time, but if I choose to go for 100%, I will use the guides for finding treasure or whatever else there is.

Like with every other GTA that I have played, I will play, explore, and find what collectibles I can as I go. At a certain point I will go online and find a guide to pick up the rest of the collectibles and other hidden gems.
