    • Yes - bring it on!

    • No - it'll just be too vast to find everything alone

I'm going to sequester myself from the internet probably around the first of August. In case the map is revealed early I don't really want to see it until I get my game. From then on I'll be going full old school D&D on it, taking notes on where I found things (hidden packages, etc), drawing my own little mini-maps, and just charting out all the undiscovered country. I really don't expect there to be anything permanently missable, so reaching 100% shouldn't be a problem as long as I take my time and am thorough. I put over 300 hours into exploring IV, and judging by the suspected size of things I'll probably double that for V. I think I can do it.

Obviously, whats the rush? A SandBox is cool for the exploration, following a map or a guide to do things makes no sense unless you're one of those that use tutorials and then tell to his friends "I've ended it in 3 days without any help, I rule".

But what I wanna see is how people will create guides for the underwater treasures... without GPS coordinates, without any directions, how they gona pull that of?

"You grab the rubber boat in the marina, then press the forward key and count to 10, then turn left and count to 8, then turn to right and count to 20, then right again and count to 40, then dive and look for a rock formation (be careful there might be sharks nearby), then look for an octopus and after passing by it, look to your left side and behind some squids you'll see a treasure chest".

There's no need for a guide to finish a GTA game. Maybe some maps to find hidden stuff.

Only thing I'll search online is the many secrets hidden behind the game, collectibles and such will be by myself.

IMO some games are like.. fine cusine, works of art or mechanical master crafts. This will be one!

You must be respectful of such labors

Nah Tso Gud

Has anyone here 100% GTA IV without the use of a guide?? I highly doubt that. Some of those pigeons were complete hell to locate even with one.

I've never bought a guide in my life. It would ruin the exploration and unknowing feeling of what I've yet to discover.

Only games I 100% were Gta.III, Gran Turismo 3 and San Andreas, which was like 99% but it was glitched, therefore impossible to complete on my ps2. I find 100% to be boring though, GTA III was almost accidental, San Andreas I did try. Gran turismo had a point, it was fun racing, not tediously collecting things.

I will not 100% V.

would be the first game since CoD4 which I would complete 100% lol.gif

Ill try it if the game can last that long for me

That will probably be near impossible without guides.

Not if R* handles it like RDR.

Yes that is my main concern, the collectibles. RDR was real easy since it was just hunting certain animals and collecting the right flowers. But those pigeons were hell. Even with the guide I missed like 6, so I started an all new file and some of those hiding spots were insane. Throwing a grenade into the open 6th story window of an otherwise non-descript building? It took me a couple grenades actually because somehow it must've bounced just far enough away from the bird to not affect it the first time. But now that I know that's the sort of tricks R* will resort too I will be ready to explode every window I come across.

Ideally the game will use the system from VCS where it will mark found collectibles on the map for you, making it easy to know which ones you're still missing. Or at least the GPS might have a coordinate system so you can note them yourself. They said the GPS is more realistic this time, so hopefully it has more features.

if controlls are fun and the framerate isnt a mess and graphics dont have aliasing as sh*t, I would probably search all collectables myself without youtube or stuff by make something like a plan and divide the map in different parts which I search thorugh from time to time

I only used a walkthrough for IV so I could beat it under 30 hours and get the trophy

I would prefer to play it how I want and not rush through everything suicidal.gif

I am going to play the main story first as all 3 characters, then play as Michael, Trevor and Frankin. Then I'll do 100%. I'll just watch videos online.

Collectables take forever WITH a guide. I don't know how anybody gets to 100% on their own. I use a guide, and the fun is unexpected things that happen on the way. I don't use a guide for story missions unless I really have a brain fart and can't figure out what I'm supposed to do.

In my opinion I hate guides. Why buy the game if you're going to go through it in someone else's footsteps? Make it your game and your experience, it'll be a lot more enjoyable and immersible.

There's no fun in using a guide, it takes all the fun out of it because it makes it like a task to find everything. I'd rather just run around the map and if I happen to find into a collectable, I take it. Just let the natural course of time help me find everything. tounge.gif

I remember marking the map in RDR to find a treasure. Good times. Good times.

Hell no, that's suicide. I wouldn't use a guide on the condition that I know what the requirements are, just not the locations or strategies.

Yep I'll try get 100% without guides however if I get really annoyed like I did with one Pigeon in GTA IV I'll look it up but that's my last resort. I was one Pigeon of 100%. cry.gif

They could do what Sleeping Dogs did: if you complete certain side missions, you unlock the option to show collectibles on your map.

However, I will get the guide anyway because it's just a cool thing to put on the shelf. I'll only use it if I need to on my way to 100%

No, I will not attempt to play GTA V without a guide. I just want to get the story trophies and move into multiplayer. (y)

Um, I might use the social club to help me out, like I did in RDR, but I really don't have any intention of going for 100% not for like a year at least.
