Elesdee95
Well I'm getting a new smartphone this week because my last cellphone is a crap Sony Ericsson W910i. I want a phone that I'm going to keep for a long time and with which I should be able to do different things: Internet, games etc. My budget is about 230 euros so I've thought to buy one of LG Optimus L9 or Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S. But I'm quite not sure which one to choose because I haven't got them testing or something, just saw some reviews on YouTube and I quite can't compare the two phones actually. Also people seem to post bad things about LG Optimus L9 phone something that really discouraged me because I thought it's a nice and useful phone. So guys help me which one to choose, not sure if this is the right place to post this topic but I had no idea where to do it and even that, I need some straight to the point answers. By the way, if you have a better alternative to these phones, you're welcome to tell me.
Kwabs
I would go for a Huawei Ascend if I were you. One of the best phones around imo. It may not beat any of the newest top phones, but that's why it's cheaper than those. http://www.trustedreviews.com/huawei-ascen...le-Phone_review

Outcast
@Sivis: I recently replaced my iPhone 5 with a Nexus 4. I loved it so much I went right back out the next day and got my girlfriend one too. What an amazing phone.

Elesdee95
What does the Google Nexus 4 cost in Europe. That trounces most £500 phones and mine cost about £240. Looks like a capable phone, but not sure if I can afford it. Oh well I don't think I can find it in my country below 230 euros budget I have. The phone looks amazing. // Oh hell brother, 2GB RAM? That sounds like a damn powerful phone. The thing I noticed is that the battery cannot be replaced in case it f*cks up. Oh and anyone had Xperia Arc S? It seems like a damn great phone, similar or even better than Samsung Galaxy S2, I had an Xperia X10 mini and it was brilliant except that the phone was too small for games. OverTheBelow
You should save up a little bit longer and go for the Nexus 4 (which is already ridiculously cheap for what it is). My dad had the Arc S and he got increasingly frustrated with it over time due to technical issues caused by the small internal memory, and because the Xperia Android in general is pretty slow. I have a Nexus 4 myself and, like others have said, it is a brilliant phone.
Elesdee95
Unfortunately I can't wait because I'm going on a trip next Friday and I need a phone so I can take photos and such so that's basically why I need it this fast. The problem with Nexus 4 is the battery, it's irreplaceable if it dies out and that's pretty frustrating for me, other than that, it's an amazing phone from what I've seen. What other recommendations do you guys have? Edited May 10, 2013 by Elesdee95

Battery switching is becoming increasingly rare in modern smartphones these days because it just doesn't seem as necessary anymore. I don't think my battery has ever run out when I've needed to swap it; I always have plenty of juice left by the time I am home in the evening and I use it alot throughout the day. I'll admit I was also hesitant at buying a phone which disallowed switching out the battery, but I've quickly learned that it's really not a very big problem. Elesdee95
I like LG Optimus L9 design, very fit and thin, but I am worried about the only 5MP camera, Xperia Arc S has 8MP. Meanwhile, LG has a 1GHz dual-core processor, Xperia has a Qualcomm 1.4 GHz processor. I quite can't decide which one to buy since those two phones are the only that I can afford right now. Similar phones to these, I am not sure if there's any better. Edited May 10, 2013 by Elesdee95

Elesdee95
I'll take pictures but as I figured in main post I'll use it for games/internet and such, the phone is not only for this trip. Oh and LG Optimus apparently has an useless SD card because you can't move applications on it, it uses only internal capacity, from what I heard. It's only the full fledged 3D games that the phone will have a little problem with. if i were you i would just get a cheap camera for that trip and save cash after to get a good phone I agree with this part. Honestly, on your budget I would go with the Google Nexus 4, it's pretty much on par with a Galaxy S3 spec wise, except a couple hundred bucks cheaper. The main gripe I have with it is battery, it's not removable, which is fine but it has the same sized battery as the S3, despite this though the S3 gets a maximum of; -810 Hours standby -22 hours talk time Whereas the Nexus only gets 310 hours standby time and 15 hours of talk. But for your budget, it's definitely the best phone to be had by leaps and bounds.

Shoumaker
Even a device such as the Galaxy S3 can't provide the 'traditional' android experience. There are actually four confirmed people here who have had first hand experience with the Nexus 4 (Sivispacem, OTB, outcast and I) and to be honest even if the Galaxy S3 was as cheap as the Nexus 4 I'd still pick the Nexus 4. The battery life is definitely good enough for me and things such as external memory don't matter to me. So my suggestion is neither the LG Optimus L9 or Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S. Just saw your post. Are you talking about the 8 GB or 16 GB version? I'm sure you would be able to pick up the 8 GB version with 230 Euros. Edit: If I had to pick between the Xperia Arc S and the LG Optimus 9 then I would go for the latter. Edited May 10, 2013 by shoumic

The memory isn't upgradeable? No, I don't think so, but I heard you can move the applications on SD card only if you root the phone. @GuyWhoSaidToBuyNexus - I can't buy Nexus man, I said previously, I don't think it's available in my country and it's a bit more expensive than the budget I have. The nexus is 10 euros above your budget and miles better than those other phones. Go to McDonalds and ask people money for a cheeseburger, 10 euros right there man. Elesdee95
The LG L9 has a microSD card place. When you spoke about upgradable memory I thought you said about the phone capacity, the internal one. So I've been in town today to have a look at the phones, I've found L9 almost in every f*cking store while Xperia Arc S not even in the city's mall. Same story about Nexus 4, I only found a Galaxy Nexus but I am not sure if it's the same as Nexus 4 (quite sure it isn't). Oh and I've seen a nice Huawei Ascend, not sure what version, its design was nice and it seemed that it's 1.2 GHz dual-core processor which is better than L9's. Elesdee95
Huawei Ascend P1 could be an alternative, what do you think of it and compared to the other two phones? Tbh I hate the design and there's only a small improvement of processor compared to LG's. Or Sony Xperia P, I like the design. Elesdee95
With contract. I'm decided almost 90% to buy LG L9. Xperia P does not have a removable battery nor a SD Card and its internal capacity is quite small for games.
kudoboi
What?! Those phones costs that much with contract? does your telco provider there have a site? you could easily get a iphone 5 or sony xperia Z/ samsung galaxy S3 on the cheapest contract which costs the price you mentioned. and i checked multiple countries as well Edited May 13, 2013 by kudoboi
