œaœa
Taken from the mapping thread, I thought it deserved more attention. Credits go to RusUpdate. Skyline is in the middle for those who can't see.
GrandMaster Smith
Honestly it's not very easy to see anything at all. It's shot with a very wide angle, if those are houses/buildings on the right rather than just apart of the airport then it does look pretty large. wwinterj
From the screens we have seen I do get a feeling the city is small however once I play the game I'm confident that will change because it's hard to tell the sense of scale from screens.

Shteeve McClaren
Yeah, after seeing all the screens, the city looks like it's the size of LS as featured in SA. I would love to be proven otherwise (this screen doesn't show anything really), but that's really how big it looks like to me.
MrSpooge
The only thing people need to get through there head if they think this is to go and play SA, come back, then re-read what Rockstar said about it being 3+x Times the Size. Then stfu.
Official General
No disrespect but..... I cannot see how this proves to me that Los Santos in GTA is very big. I don't understand the map, I cannot make nothing from it to come to your conclusion.

Liberty2k7
A lot of the people who think LS is small are assuming that the majority of the city is the Downtown and Vinewood areas. I'm not an expert on Los Angeles and I haven't been there but I do know that in real life the city is much more than that, and I doubt we've seen the whole scope of the city. there is South Central and suburb areas and lots more, Rockstar are only showing us what they want us to see, there will be plenty to discover. Oh right in that case take your own advise STFU and respect other peoples opinions Mr hardcore keyboard warrior. My opinion is based on what we have seen your opinion is based on what someone has wrote. You see the difference? As I said until we play the game we won't know. Neckbeard
All I am saying is look how far away the city is from LAX. That, and we can't even see the southern mountains that surround the ghetto. That's because of the extremely wide angle Los Santos looks anything but big right now but we haven't seen much of the south side of it so it's too early to make assumptions
Kiffster
I don't really get why people still say LS is small. From what I've seen since trailer 1, it looks like one of the biggest cities ever in gta. But that's just me... oh well...

Maybe you should learn to read because if you scroll up a bit to the top, before you even posted I pretty much quoted your "TILL YOU PLAY THE GAME" and as for being a Hardcore Keyboard Warrior? Right, you've got a very strange idea of what one actually is do you, as if I am threatening to murder your family with an axe and feed there grinded up meat to my pet ferret Jeffery. Yeah, sure.. People can think whatever they please, but if you've got no idea. Maybe that's what you are and if that's the case then I expect no better. If you're a adult though that's really pathetic. Furthermore please point me to where I said the city was small? All I see is me saying "I get the felling" meaning just that. I don't state my opinion as fact when I clearly don't know if it is. Maybe you should take your advise again and learn to read. GTA-Addicted
All I am saying is look how far away the city is from LAX. That, and we can't even see the southern mountains that surround the ghetto. I thought the argument some people have over here is that the city of LS itself was small, not the state of San Andreas But indeed, you cannot argue about something if you don't know the true size of something

zainzombie
LS isn't small, it's just that the Countryside is too big, LS could have been way more big. THIS! Los Santos may very well be bigger than LC and its a pretty good size even if it is as big as LC (and not bigger). Nothing to complain about but as compared to the rest of the map (in fan-made maps which CVG said was closer to how the game looks),, it looks small and unbalanced. Im not complaining though. I love countryside, forests and different variety but as far as I can tell, LS city looks smaller COMPARED TO the rest of the map.
Andreas
Yeah, after seeing all the screens, the city looks like it's the size of LS as featured in SA. Los Santos in San Andreas had a total area of around 3 square miles which equals the size of Liberty City in GTA III. Judging by the screenshots and the trailers we got so far, the city definitely looks bigger than that. According to the Game Informer Q&A, Los Santos covers more square footage but the downtown area is smaller than the one of Liberty City, which is understandable because the downtown area of New York is also more dense than the one of Los Angeles. This. People judging L.A./LS by its downtown core have no clue how the majority of western North American cities are laid out. It's very different from the Eastern Seaboard U.S. cities, or major European ones, where they have a very large downtown core as the hub of the city. I've been to L.A. a couple times, and the first time I went, I was shocked at how small their skyline was considering its the 2nd largest city in the U.S., especially after visiting the Eastern cities first (NY, Chicago, Philly, Boston, D.C., etc etc - we did a huge road trip where we drove around the perimeter of the U.S.). In the west its all about urban sprawl (Phoenix is the same, as are others), and L.A. is about as urban sprawl as it gets, takes absolutely forever to drive across greater L.A. & it's surrounding areas, like a couple hours even, maybe more. There's sooo much more to L.A. than just its downtown core, and its so spread out that each area feels like its own city, even with its own environment (Santa Monica/Venice, etc is a whole different world from, say, Hollywood, or East L.A.). L.A.(LS) isn't NY(LC) with its skyscrapers, get over it. It's going to be a massively spread out city.
