DODI3OG
My PC is too old for gaming and I'm planning to buy a console. I've talked about this before. Shall I buy current gen? Or shall I skip the latter and head to NextGen? How long will the current gen last with the NextGen in line?
Finn 7 five 11
It really depends on a lot of things man. Current generation consoles are pretty cheap nowadays, and if you buy one now there is at least 6 months of gaming until next generation releases, for me I would buy a console now and then next generation when it releases. I think there will still be a lot of people on PS3 and 360 for at least 12 months after new consoles release, perhaps longer on the really popular online games, that's just my opinion. This is what comes to my mind thinking about the oncoming gen. It's just so confusing because I'm not sure if I'll spend a lot of money if the MP of a particular game is empty. DODI3OG
I'm buying the current gen, then. Unless the next gen has BC w/c is very unlikely.

If my PS3 were to crap out on me for whatever reason, I'd just wait until the PS4 was out and get that.
Red Hat
Wait for Next-Gen. The wait will be worth it. Currently i have a PS3. I'm going to wait for PS4 Slim version, because now i don't have any money..so i did some calculations and found out that i would get about Rs. 25,000($. 460) in a couple of years..i'm not sure about the price of the PS4 but i think it would be inside $500. wwinterj
At least 2 years after release. Until then I'll be buying games for this gen console where the option is avaible.

Durden
I'm pretty sure that the library of games that the PS3 had will be available on the PS4 via Ustream or something like that.
DODI3OG
I'm hoping for an early XBOX next model with Backwards Compatibility just like the first PS3 model. That way, I could skip the X360 w/o taking a little compromise at all.

Oh you're an Xbox guy, I didn't see that. Yeah we won't know anything until May 21, but there has been a rumour of a separate piece of $100 hardware that will supposedly allow the backwards compatibility for X360 games. Good luck for that to happen... I'd be so jealous.

DODI3OG
Yeah, I'm an XBOX fan because there are more X360 players in my country than PS guys. And there aren't any pirated PS3 games vendor in my city, at least. I'm not really a pirate. I'll only buy the pirated ones in case my CD was scratched or if I'm looking for a GOTY edition. DODI3OG
BUMP. I've decided that I should go for the PS4 first, since it has Gaikai to compensate for skipping the PS3. However, I will buy the PS3 much later because I'm going to need it back in my home. Also, since the PS2 is very cheap nowadays, I'm going to buy it in the near future for my mom. I also have a PSOne w/c used to be my sister's until I asked for it. That said, I might have the complete PS collection.
wwinterj
The PS2 to this day is still the best console ever made in my opinion. Edited June 15, 2013 by wwinterj
