CryptReaperDorian
Oh, and for Battlefield... I loved them a lot. Ive played them since they released the very first one. Had a blast with all of them. I remember the excitement I had when I found out Bf3 was coming out. After so many years, a full battlefield game was coming. I loved it, and still do. Though, I lost a lot of respect for them right when they announced Battlefield 4. Unbelievable! That just tells me they are following the foot steps of COD. Takes all those years to come with a new BF game, and than they announce the next one so soon. Ridiculous. I won't buy into that. That is like if VALVe was to finally release HL3, than announce HL4 after 4 months of release. Than a new Half life ever year. If that happened, I would quit gaming. A legend game such as Half-life to do that, my faith in the industry would be completely gone. I'm already losing faith in the industry with doing Day 1 DLC, and Day 1 patches. Releasing broken games. This is why Rockstar, and VALVe is keeping me around. They take their time, and do it right the first time. Don't do this day 1 dlc garbage, this season pass bs. Grinds my gears SO BAD! Yes. delays suck, but they have a reason for it, and they release a quality product that is actually worth the $60 price tag that goes with it. I can actually see where my $60 is going in a quality game that they take time on, and years of development is worth every penny. With COD, I don't see that. I don't see where my money is going, if they are going to copy and paste everything from the prior game, and put a different texture on it... that is not game development. Not at all. I hope with all of my heart, people start seeing this, and stop giving their hard earned money to these thieves. Give it to a company that deserves it, and has worked for us, the consumers, to make a product with all their heart, time, effort. So as much as I hate to say it, I still don't think the time is now that people realize the crap game Cod devs are playing to steal customers money. I think they will top sales again even with GTA coming, but I think people are starting to realize. Sorry, this is a topic that really frustrates the hell out of me with the gaming industry. Only a handful of companies still hold that special quality that has made this industry so amazing. The others are just abusing it so they can take everyone's money and deliver junk. Cant wait for the day the light bulb clicks on in everybody's dome. /end rant 2 - hahaha I agree. Concerning BF4; They didn't announce it after a few months in 2012 like most annual game devs, they announced it in March 2013 2 months ago. which means it didn't go 'all out CoD' all over us because BF3 was released in 2011, so 2 years later we have BF4. you can call the Battlefield series (if they continue with this way of releasing a new BF every 2 years) a bi-annual series. And oh, it's almost guaranteed that GTA V will outsell CoD. if ya don't like it, G.T.F.O. I Lost all hope in Call of Duty. Ghost makes me It sucks like that...... Battlefield 4 was actually confirmed to be in production like a month after Battlefield 3's release, and it's being rushed even though it's two years between the games. This is because DICE decided to do this "Premium" bullsh*t and releasing relatively half-assed DLCs for Battlefield 3 (I find only Back to Karkand to be amazing, the others are really decent at best) when they could have just released a single, superb DLC (like BC2 Vietnam or Secret Weapons of WWII) instead of wasting their time on multiple ones of lesser quality. Battlefield 3's lifetime was also filled with a bunch of false advertising and bait-and-switching (such as removal of DLC content).

Staten
Activision has released some statements predicting lower revenue this latter half of the year. The most likely factor to this is the next-gen consoles coming out (obviously), but they also mention "well capitalized new entrants." Any other game come to mind that comes out at the latter half of the year that's been thrown half as much money as GTA V, and that has been absent from the market for a while? Probably Disney Infinity, which may end up as competition for Skylanders, which is apparently very lucrative for Activision.
zmouse
Would GTAV be considered a "new entrant"? What about Watch Dogs, Destiny or some other new ip.
theworldfamous
They should be.. they should be even more cautious of next gen though because the way I see it they have nothing going for them other than milking CoD and WoW to death. I wouldn't be too surprised if they end up the THQ of the next cycle.
Corndawg93
Black ops 2 is worse than Black ops. Activision, Treyarch, Ubisoft ,EA all money grabbers. Rockstar Games and Bethesda Game Studio are the only ones that give the gamers value for money. Agreed. I would also add Naughty Dogs and Santa Monica studios to that list. Before I go ape sh*t on your post, what list are you talking about Which list do you think Im talking about? The Money grabber list
goh13
Reveal trailer for CoD Ghosts came out on May 1. It currently has 8.7 million views. The Michael, Trevor, Franklin video was released on April 30 has 5.1 million views. But compare the likes and dislikes. The GTA V trailers have a much better like to dislike ratio. So what's the reason GTA V is short over 3 million views? If GTA is bigger than CoD, should it not have more views? Apples and oranges. You can't compare the first teaser trailer to the 4th trailer. The first trailer always has more impact. Compare the 3rd or 4th COD trailer to the 3rd or 4th GTA trailer. GTA V: 34,293,512 viewsMW3: 24,125,332 viewsBO2: 31,243,125 views GTA V is winning in 2011 and 2012 against both 1st trailer of CoD games. Not saying it will outsell them but, I think there is a 10-20% chance it might outsell the next COD. For a number of reasons. Wait, maybe a 10-15% chance. LOL? V trailer - 2 years. MW3 - 2 years BO - 1 year. How can you compare a 2 year trailer over a one year trailer? If anything, it shows cod is getting more popular.. @Dred, That figure of 25mill is from over the past 5 years. A new cod game gets a half of that within the first/two week. Didn’t I post MW3 numbers? Also, look at the change in views between my post and Youtube’s latest update. GTA V is gaining steam far better than Black Ops 2. GTA V has a steady flow of views while BO2/MW3 have a sudden explosion of views in a short time. In the long run, GTA V will always have more views. That does not matter, however. I am just enjoying my time looking at the numbers and stuff Do not give a crap if any of them sells or not. I will be enjoying my GTA V and I am sure R* are going to make up there money somehow. Kickstarter is always there if the game, by some weird f*cked up accident, flops.
Killerdude
COD will oustell, But GTA will outscore.
PumpActionPimp
CoD will still outsell it. I doubt it, more of the same, or a fresh new game that's been 5 years in the making...? It's about brand familiarity unfortunately. GTA has been out of the spotlight for about 5 or so years, while CoD has continued to gain steam. Call of Duty Ghosts and Battlefield 4 WILL outsell GTA V, but it'll come close. Just check out best-selling on most retail websites and both games will top GTA V for pre-order sales. This time it's different for CoD. For a while now, Activision has built up a reputation with their Modern Warfare series. The name is completely recognizable by nerdy avid-gamers and your casual jock type players alike, but this time it's different. Modern Warfare is done as a series, that name is now gone, and it will definitely impact the sales. CoD heavily relies on casual gamers, people who most likely don't keep up with all the latest news in the gaming world. I think a lot of people are going to pass on this one, thinking it's just a 'middle' installment that preludes MW4.
