Rich.
Yeah... CoD4 and World at War didn't sell anywhere near as much as the new Call of Duty games do. That series really exploded sales-wise with Modern Warfare 2, which came out a year and a half after IV. This will be the biggest test either series has had in terms of sales competition. Thing is, The amount of views that it has so far, we know for a fact that there will be atleast that many sales. I've watched it and my view will count, I won't be buying it but I know someone who hasn't watched the trailer yet will be buying it. The difference between COD and GTA, we know roughly how many people will buy it compared to GTA where we have no idea.

Yes, but I doubt all of them were honest dislikes. Most of them were probably like "OH EM GEE IT'S CODZ LET ME HIT THE DISLIKE BUTTON" it's like all the people that "hate" Justin Beiber, they hate him because everyone else does. furybeaver
CoD will still outsell it. I doubt it, more of the same, or a fresh new game that's been 5 years in the making...? The former, unfortunately. This is exactly why I'd like to buy 2 copies of GTAV, for those asking "why". This, I already pre ordered a copy for my xbox and ps3 then when it comes out for pc i'll get it for pc to. CoD will NEVER EVER outsell gta v.

LinuxV12
I used to buy cod every year and bf day one release, this year it isn't going to happen. Don't want to waste my money on those types of games any more and besides it won't be anything spectacular so this fall the only games I'll be playing is the show 13 and GTA v, it'll keep me occupied all the way into next year with next gen on the way. Also if by next gen and cod has another installment and its still "rehashing" and not taking advantage of the tech then I'm done with it altogether. Syntax323
I have never understood the craze with cod. It blows my mind completely. The only cod I bought, was cod 1, 2, 3, and than 4(modern warfare). The first 3 were pretty epic ww2 games back in the day. Than modern warfare was something new and pretty fun. Than they started that be every year new game, at a full $60 price! Think about it, they are very smart for doing that. They are doing it because people keep buying into it. They don't care how good or bad the game is, it just keeps breaking sales records and they are cashing in. As long as consumers keep buying, they keep making. I remember what... Last year when a trailer came out for the next cod, and the map they were shoeing literally had all recycled building models and everything just a different texture on it. Unbelievable that people keep buying into it, and at full price. I'm at a loss for words at people that keep giving them $60 per game. Rockstar is one of my all time favorite companies, behind VALVe. They really try for their money, and really care about the products they put out. It gives them a good name, and a very respectable company. I hate to say it, but of course cod will outsell it. It sucks, but that's the way it is. You'd be surprised how many people don't care about gta. You also have to think, yes we all know how different and great this gta will be because we all research the hell out of it. Most people don't, so they see a new gta coming out, they think it's just going to be the same as previous. Hard to explain what I'm trying to say... I'm typing on my phone and its midnight. Will talk more about it on my pc later. I don't care if cod outsells them. I just care that rockstar has won my full respect. They have me sold on their products no matter what. Cod developers lost mine a long time ago and wont receive and single penny from me. I hope others will start to realize the game they are playing and stop buying into their bs! Come on people, get a dam clue! You're all feeding the sharks!! /end rant.
Syntax323
Oh, and for Battlefield... I loved them a lot. Ive played them since they released the very first one. Had a blast with all of them. I remember the excitement I had when I found out Bf3 was coming out. After so many years, a full battlefield game was coming. I loved it, and still do. Though, I lost a lot of respect for them right when they announced Battlefield 4. Unbelievable! That just tells me they are following the foot steps of COD. Takes all those years to come with a new BF game, and than they announce the next one so soon. Ridiculous. I won't buy into that. That is like if VALVe was to finally release HL3, than announce HL4 after 4 months of release. Than a new Half life ever year. If that happened, I would quit gaming. A legend game such as Half-life to do that, my faith in the industry would be completely gone. I'm already losing faith in the industry with doing Day 1 DLC, and Day 1 patches. Releasing broken games. This is why Rockstar, and VALVe is keeping me around. They take their time, and do it right the first time. Don't do this day 1 dlc garbage, this season pass bs. Grinds my gears SO BAD! Yes. delays suck, but they have a reason for it, and they release a quality product that is actually worth the $60 price tag that goes with it. I can actually see where my $60 is going in a quality game that they take time on, and years of development is worth every penny. With COD, I don't see that. I don't see where my money is going, if they are going to copy and paste everything from the prior game, and put a different texture on it... that is not game development. Not at all. I hope with all of my heart, people start seeing this, and stop giving their hard earned money to these thieves. Give it to a company that deserves it, and has worked for us, the consumers, to make a product with all their heart, time, effort. So as much as I hate to say it, I still don't think the time is now that people realize the crap game Cod devs are playing to steal customers money. I think they will top sales again even with GTA coming, but I think people are starting to realize. Sorry, this is a topic that really frustrates the hell out of me with the gaming industry. Only a handful of companies still hold that special quality that has made this industry so amazing. The others are just abusing it so they can take everyone's money and deliver junk. Cant wait for the day the light bulb clicks on in everybody's dome. /end rant 2 - hahaha

Concerning BF4; They didn't announce it after a few months in 2012 like most annual game devs, they announced it in March 2013 2 months ago. which means it didn't go 'all out CoD' all over us because BF3 was released in 2011, so 2 years later we have BF4. you can call the Battlefield series (if they continue with this way of releasing a new BF every 2 years) a bi-annual series. And oh, it's almost guaranteed that GTA V will outsell CoD. if ya don't like it, G.T.F.O. I Lost all hope in Call of Duty. Ghost makes me It sucks like that...... Do you have any idea how many Halo and Battlefield players clicked the video for the sole reason of disliking it? most people that watched the GTA V trailers are GTA fans. Looking at past games, GTAs have average of 20-25 million sales, CoDs have an average of 13-19 mill. I'm sure the cod community would grow if they took more than 1 year to make them, and I'm sure it'll affect the quality of the game very positively
Chris Fromage
It's funny how when people talk about Activision, the first thing what people think is COD. What about all those other games? Activision is a huge company. rare.steak
Anyone who has half a clue about product life cycles can see that CoD is past it's peak. Past its maturity. Its audience (kids) seek novelty. Interest in the title has saturated. Its popularity is on a decline. Soon enough, though, another braindead game series will dominate the market that isn't GTA. One that releases every so often just to face the same cycle of CoD. Still, it's not a problem for their top shareholders and managers. It's a quick cash-in over a few years span. Probably will be an FPS, maybe BF, maybe something else. GTA's promise of innovation with every major release, though, will prove its endurance in the industry for many years to come. And i will admit i am a huge Call of Duty fan (Well, of the Modern Warfare side, hate Crap Ops) But Call of Duty WILL outsell GTA V. Its a juggernaut of a franchise that literally cannot be stopped. Just look at some of the smaller things, go to a famous gaming Youtube account and check a play through of any game, and then look at a Call of Duty multiplayer game. The views will most likely be triple, its just crazy popular. GTA is also crazy popular, and Rockstar are the masters at arousing interest and publicity for their games. RockStarNiko
Sadly I think COD will sell more than GTA V. Trailer 2 has been out a really long time now yet it still does not have as many views as trailer 1. If GTA V was going to smash records in sales the view numbers of trailer 2 would be higher than trailer 1 by now, but they are not.
