October16th
CoD will still outsell it. I doubt it, more of the same, or a fresh new game that's been 5 years in the making...? The former, unfortunately. This is exactly why I'd like to buy 2 copies of GTAV, for those asking "why". I guarantee that the new GTA V will become one of the best selling games in recent history. There isn't a doubt in my mind. Rockstar knows what they're doing which is why Activision, and likely other publishers, are rightfully worried. Anyway, come back a few weeks after the release to apologize.

There are games that take many years to make and show the level of dedication and detail the devs put into them, and then there are games that look like they were pasted together on an assembly line and sell like hotcakes. GTA is the former, COD is the latter.
Buffalo Soldier
So who cares. Hitman absolution hardly sold up to its expectation and that's the first HD era hitman game. Not to mention one of the best games I've played in a long time. I'm sorry - but it's so under rated.

GTA is the former, COD is the latter. GTA V screams quality and effort, something that is dying in todays gaming industry. People can see this and it gives them incentive to purchase GTAV rather than the same re-hashed games. GTA V's saled will be very strong, more than likely it'll be stronger than Call of Duty's sales. People are perfectly aware that CoD is a rehashed title, some hold out on their games for that reason. Very few people will decide to skip on GTA V because it's such a high quality title, a rarity these days. It has a higher appeal than CoD, believe it or not. Being the King of free roam games will give you those massive sales that you need to beat a beast like CoD. As I said before, wait and see. GTA V will become one of the best selling games this recent decade.
IDredMan
GTA 4 (Arguably the worst GTA of all time) outsold the CoD that came out in the same year (Not a CoD expert, I think it might have been 4 or MW1, which are arguably the best CoDs ever.) and that CoD had the same rate of sales as recent CoD games do. I really want the game to do well, because it's obvious R* genuinely cares about the stuff they make. That's the kind of stuff that actually deserves to be rewarded. On the other hand, I think there are way too many COD fans (and young kids) who care more about instant gratification and temporary sensationalism in games rather than quality, depth and detail. I feel like it's the same reason people like Lady Gaga or Bieber sell millions but better quality artists don't get the amount of attention they deserve. DeafMetal
GTA V screams quality and effort, something that is dying in todays gaming industry. People can see this and it gives them incentive to purchase GTAV rather than the same re-hashed games. I disagree with that. I mean, just think about this year... Last of Us, Tomb Raider, GoW Ascension, GeoW Judgement, Devil May Cry, Dead Space 3, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, Metal Gear Rising, Bioshock Infinite, Injustice, Batman Arkham Origins, Dead Island Riptude, Lego City (GTA for kids), Far Cry Blood Dragon, Metro Last Light, Dust 514, Deadpool, Company of Heroes 2, Fuse, Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Rome Total War 2, Beyond Two Souls, Assassin's Creed 4, PS4, Xbox 720, Killzone 5, Infamous 3, etc. It's one of the best years ever to be a gamer (especially a ps3 owner lol). Last year was a little slow, but look at 2011: Dark Souls, Skyrim, Arkham City, etc. I can go on and on. Games haven't gotten bad, it's just that gaming is now part of the mainstream culture, and trendfags will undoubtedly enter the market, which makes it easy for money-grubbing companies like EA and Activision to milk them dry. CryptReaperDorian
I remember when GTA IV gained the title of having the highest first week revenue of an entertainment product up to that time (over $500,000,000 within its first week), but then Activision swooped down and stole that reward from R* and Take-Two. I'm really hoping that GTA V retakes that title since I feel that it deserves it quite a bit more than a Call of Duty title. However, this will probably only happen if the "kids" start talking about GTA V with their friends instead of Call of Duty (which is by far the largest reason of CoD's success). southparkmayor
Something tells me That this new COD will sell more than GTA V overall. This is because gamers are becoming stoopider every year and COD is the game that every one buys and falls for the prestige gimmick to make them play more. Rich.
Watch Dogs, maybe? Watch Dogs won't put a dent in anything, especially something like Call of Duty. And that's not a knock on that game, I'm sure it'll be great, but a new IP like that isn't going to sell amazingly well, which is necessary in this situation. WAW wasn't really big at time. Lets not forget, they've had 5 games since? GTA hasn't had any.
