BartleDooGTA
COD won't outsell GTA 5 unless you don't tell all your friends about how awesome gta 5 is I've already convinced like 20 friends to buy GTA V, and all these 20 friends are huge COD fanboys so thats saying something
ramsy66
CoD will still outsell it. I doubt it, more of the same, or a fresh new game that's been 5 years in the making...? The former, unfortunately. This is exactly why I'd like to buy 2 copies of GTAV, for those asking "why". Actually, I'm putting my money on GTA this time. Next-gen consoles are a game-changer, and I doubt COD will be able to hold them off (at least this year, who knows next year). A LOOOTTT of their fanbase are made up of people who want to be trendy and aren't really "dedicated" like a lot of GTA fans. If they see their friends getting a ps4 instead of a new COD, then they'll follow. On the other hand, we're freaking starved for a new and better GTA and will buy it regardless of next-gen consoles or not. But the new CoD is going to be on next-gen - as well as current-gen. CoD will outsell GTA, just accept it.
Dick Valor
Battlefield 4 WILL outsell GTA V This is easily the dumbest thing I've read all day. Battlefield 3 didn't even sell half as many copies as GTA IV. And yet you predict BF4 will outsell GTA V!?!

Cyper
I don't care - at all. GTA will sell enough for Rockstar to gain huge profit. Even ARMA 3 will sell enough for BIS to gain profit. If other games sell more it totally irrelevant. It does not affect me at all as long as I can play my No.1 favorite games. I only buy games that has a certain standard and the gaming company has to go in line with my personal values. I don't think today's CoD games is very fun, but even if they were fun for me, I would never ever pay money to play them. When I pay for ARMA or GTA I know I pay for true passion and not greed. Dope_0110
First of all.. what dos it matter who will sell more. It's all about which game will keep us entertained more, and we all know the answer to that. And if you do want to go into the sales business, first make a difference between preorders and total sales. CoD has been smashing all records with their preorders and first week sales for years now. But they do show sings of hitting the peak. Total sales is of course the total amount of units sold to date. I did a fast search and COD: MW3 stands at 14.9 mil. while IV stands at 10.2 mil. on xbox 360 according to VGChartz. That's just one source and I didn't look for PC and PS3 numbers but it shows CoD sold better at least on x360 and I'm sure PC too, as IV was weak on PC. So What, are we going to... cry. Or just go play IV or SA.. I'll do the latter.
Dark Amun Re
I don't give a f*** about CoD and Battlefield this time. EA and Activision can go to hell. And for sure I doubt that Cod will outsell GTA V.
poklane
CoD will still outsell it. I doubt it, more of the same, or a fresh new game that's been 5 years in the making...? It's about brand familiarity unfortunately. GTA has been out of the spotlight for about 5 or so years, while CoD has continued to gain steam. Call of Duty Ghosts and Battlefield 4 WILL outsell GTA V, but it'll come close. Just check out best-selling on most retail websites and both games will top GTA V for pre-order sales. There's no way BF4 will outsell GTA V. BF3 couldn't even outsell an 6 year old CoD game...
zainzombie
I don't really give two sh*ts about sales. I know, the more the game sells the more Rockstar make, but think of it like the box office scores at movies. Most movies that do well at the box office are your stock-standard comedies/super-hero flicks/anything by James Cameron, yet these aren't the best films, not by a long way, they'll never be considered classics or anything. Grand Theft Auto is the type of game that will be considered classic, nobody will care about Call of Duty: Ghosts in 10 years time. Excellent post. I think people should appreciate how rare it is to see companies like Rockstar, who continue pushing QUALITY first. They develop groundbreaking games that stand the test of time. On it's BEST day, COD could NEVER have the impact that GTAIII had in the world of entertainment. GTA is like the Godfather trilogy, while COD is Twilight. I agree with both posts. Loved the comparison of Gta = Godfather of games and COd = Twilight. Sounds so right.

GTAfan786
Actually V will beat COD this time. Have you seen the number of pre-orders in the US ALONE? Even COD hasn't managed to get nowhere near that. I've seen a LOT of COD fans actually starting to be less interested in it.
Hvitdverg
I'm pretty sure that GTA V will beat COD: Ghosts sales day one. The pre-order amount is just crazy high, comparing GTA V pre-orders at this moment compared to a COD game 5 months prior to release previous years. GTA V is WAAAAAAAAAAY ahead, and will go up even higher in the months too come.

Jokunen
Sorry but I HAVE TO comment on this thing because I always see red when people are so ignorant (not all of you of course). First of all I'm quite hyped about GTA V, mostly because GTA IV did not deliver the amount of fun what Vice City and San Andreas deliverd. It was like copy of a master piece. Great thing to watch but felt kind of empty. A bit off-topic. CoD bashing is such a old thing half of you bash cod for being repetitive and still want a San Andreas 2.0 (That's just stupid). Cod is the one of the only console fps games which is smooth and fun. And to those who are allready saying CoD:Ghosts will be same old same old, wait for the 21st this month and then you can bash it if you want. But to the point I wonder why Activision is so cautious, sure there will be big titles coming like WD and Gta V but well they have a titel which has broken many sales records and this time around atleast CoD has one trick that might boost the sales (it's coming to this gen, next gen atleast one of the next gen consoles and pc). Rockstar probably never out sell these game(s) whit massive player base(s), but they don't have to. I just hope that GTA V will get enough profits so R* would keep creating these marvellous open world games. Btw last but not least please don't compare Saints Row to Gta they're two diffrent types of game SR is all about whacky sillinnes and unrealistic over the top action, while Gta is more subtle humour with creat your own fun type of game. Welcome to the fourms! I agree with the overall sales, that COD:Ghosts will beat GTA V overall sales. GTA V is only confirmed for PS3/360 (PC due to be announced yes). So GTA V only has the ability to make good sales on 3 consoles, while COD: Ghosts will be sold on PS3/360/PS4/Xbox. Many people will buy the game first for PS3/360, and then they will prolly buy it one more time when getting a PS4/Xbox later on, just because they wanna see the difference, or people move on. Ghosts sales are going to beat GTA V in the long run. But I think GTA V will beat day one sales records.
Ex Hellraiser
Paying $60 every year for a "new" CoD, is comparable to buying a new 2007 car, in 2007. Then, in 2008, the car company comes out with this "revolutionary" new version, and you buy that "brand new" 2008 car, when in reality, it isn't anything more than the 2007 car with a new coat of sparkly paint. 2009, same deal, same old car, made to sound prettier and newer, when it simply is the same thing with some new gimmick to keep selling. Now, imagine buying a 2007 "new" car for a full $25-30,000, in 2013. Sounds really f*cking preposterous, doesn't it? Well, 5 year olds don't care. They want the next best thing. Which is, apparently, a yearly dose of CoD rehash... We all know better than to buy a six year old car for full price, but 5 year olds don't know the difference. Ghosts will probably still outsell GTA V, but who knows? The hype level of GTA V right now is small, only to hardcore GTA fans. But by the time September comes, everyone and their mother will have a hard-on for GTAV.

GTAaLEX117
So why does this matter? CoD has proven that good sales don't always mean good quality. I have a 4.5 something Win/loss ratio, and 2.20 k/d. If you are on my team, and I see that you don't contribute towards winning. The absence of a major GTA for 5 years is what will make GTA sell more than COD. It is very highly anticipated. If COD does sell more than GTA V it'll be due to the several platforms it is selling on. GTA V will lead on Xbox 360 and PS3 sales I can guarantee that.
