The most recent screenshots of GTA V are amazing, and preview information given so far, is excellent news. Right now GTA V is shaping to be possibly one of the greatest GTA games yet. So far, so great.

 

Now, I know the central theme of the game is centered on major heists and robberies. But that is all I seem to hear about in information about the gameplay. Don't me wrong, I love the idea of planning major heists and I very excited to hear that robbing stores has come back. But have not yet heard of other criminal activities that are available to us. I want variety in the criminal activities and operations that we carry out, too much of the same thing will obviously get tedious, monotonous and repetitive.

 

What about drugs ? I have not heard any mention of drug-dealing or drug trafficking activity in the game, and this is very surprising, since the game is based on LA and Southern California, which in real life, is a region that is a hotbed for drug trafficking and drug markets, especially coming in from Mexico. I have not anything about this, I was hoping to see stuff like this.

 

I really do not want GTA V to get stale in many sections of the storyline and gameplay, because that was happened with GTA IV when Rockstar focused too much on hitman missions for Niko's character. As a result, many people felt IV was a bit repetitive and stale. V needs to avoid this by providing more variety in the criminal actions of the protagonists.

Most likely scenario is that the missions which involve all 3 protagonists will be based around heists. This isn't to say that there won't be missions between the 3 that have other subjects.

 

Each will have their own story to follow as well. Franklin's looks like gang banging (despite not wanting it), Trevor seems to have a drug dealing thang going on, and Michael's will probably get up to some high end mischief downtown.

 

I'm sure there will be missions between just two of the protagonists as well. Michael and Trevor will have missions together without Franklin. Michael and Franklin will have missions without Trevor. And Franklin and Trevor will have missions together without Michael.

 

There will most likely be a range of missions, so don't worry. They're just showing off the heists for the previews because they seem to have a lot of depth with the sub-missions and players own decision making.

OT: Hopefully the drugs trade will be emphasized a tad in Trevor's storyline since "the guns and crank go through Trevor Philips Enterprise, or they ain't goin!"

Trevor's in the drug game, so I'm certain we'll see a piece of that. On the other hand, it looks like Franklin's missions will be about escaping the gang life around him, Michael will be looking for a new therapist (joking). and, again, Trevor will be into the drugs. And in addition to these three things, all 3 protags get together and rob the sh*t out of a bank. Sounds pretty good to me...

Relax dude the game storyline will be about the pursuit of the almighty dollar. That being said their giving us one major activity that will be carried out through story and off dealing with heist. Rockstar isn't going to give you all of what it has to offer. With the characters background alone you should obviously realize their will be other activities to do. With one character being part of a gang I'm sure we will see turf wars and other based mission. And with Trevor and his business and his problems with the lost there's other mission and activities with that. With Michael I'm sure he has mission with fbi or so on. So before you think that this is the only criminal activity we will be doing look harder into what the game is offering. And understand that rockstar will have more to show toward release. I'm like just with gta iv whole theme was making money by any means b c he was new to the country. Honestly that's been the story for Claude in a way and it's time to have a different them like with vice and San Andrea.

If I've read/heard correctly, there are only 6 heists in the game. They're a point to bridge the gap between the 3 characters. It's a new feature, and a big one at that, so it's unsurprising that R* is spending all their time talking about this right now. They also tend to keep rather tight-lipped about their games so this also doesn't surprise me.

I think that the central part of the story will be robberies and heists but the game will also feature drugs and other criminal activities as well. They wont be a central part of the story like heists but Im sure they will not be left out.

 

Trevor in 2nd trailer mentions that he is a drug and weapons dealer in the town he lives in and has an on-going rivalry with the Lost MC because both parties want to be the only suppliers in that town. Plus we also see Trevor pissing in a meth lab, Im assuming cooking drugs/distribution will be there in some form (minigame maybe?).

 

And as far as main storyline getting repetitive and stale goes, I know I may sound like a fanboy, but I truly believe in R*. Im sure they will structure the entire game in a way that it will not feel repetitive and there being 3 protagonists with their own lives and problems who live in totally different parts of the map dealing with their problems as well as planning smaller and major heists at the same time... I just cant see how the game/story will get repetitive.

Not worried since I'm sure the game will have missions that are going to develop the personalities of M/F/T.

 

These missions will have less to do with heists and more about fleshing out the characters so that we as players can relate to them and know why they do what they do. Rockstar cares about storytelling so the game won't be just Heist A,B,C etc, there will be other content, rest assured.

I doubt the game will be all heists. I would guess that the game will feature all different types of missions, but the missions will build up to different larger heists, after each of which the story will transition to a different focus depending on the heist. Such as say, the 3 protags are going to break into a bank, the missions building up to that heist will be different types of missions, that will be prepping for that large bank heist. After the bank heist, a new target will be chosen, and the missions will differ slightly. I'd guess the game will have 6 to 8 big heists, with a hundred or so regular missions

But maybe Trevor will deal with drug trafficking since he is a drug addict. Not only that but he is enemies with the Lost due to drugs.

I think there will be lots of other missions that won't have anything to do with the heists. Like, each protag will have their own contacts/people that would want them to do stuff just like in any previous gta. Missions specifically for Michael/Franklin/Trev that have nothing to do with the other protags. That's just my opinion...

 

And of coarse the other smaller stuff like drugs, racing, etc... So I'm not worried, this is GTA we're talking about, there will be massive amounts of stuff to do besides Heists..

Rockstar just doesn't want to reveal a lot of the game like they did with IV. You might as well say the map is really small considering they've only shown us the same areas at different angles.

I don't see the likelihood of V's story/plot and mission-structures becoming stale at all, since you have THREE different characters at your command. THREE ambitious men with their own reasons why they do what they do etc. And besides doing heists each of them has a lot on their plate

I reckon each three protagonists will have their own stories to follow - not as long as the entire Niko story, but not as short as Johnny and Luis' - and then the major heists will be done when you want, in your own time.

So the "guns and crank in this area go through Trevor Philips Enterprise..." line went straight over your head? As you said & so have the recent previews, Trevor has an ongoing feud with The Lost MC, who are undoubtedly involved in gun running & drug production. That's why Trevor torches that house & why it explodes instead of just burning down, it was a rival's meth lab.

 

We also know Franklin has a lot going on outside the heists. It's Michael I'm not entirely sure about but it obviously has something to do with his past catching up to him & his ties to the FIB. His family shenanigans will be the comic relief in his story & possibly some mortal danger for them in the third act.

Hiests are just the key component to the storyline. There is for sure going to be Hitman Contracts, Car Stealing, Drug Dealing (Probably) with Franklin and Trevor. The main theme of this story is heists, but of course Rockstar has put in a healthy dose of GTA-Expected missions.
