Grand Theft Savage
Five Stars will be the highest level of the wanted system in this game. Why would they eliminate a star? At first I assumed that a star was discarded from the system because the police have become more challenging, but from what I read in one of the recent previews, the Wanted System has only slighty changed. Why do you think R* removed a star? Also, what do you think will happen at each star? My guess: 1 Star Police pursue with non-lethal force 2 Stars Police will use their guns 3 Stars Police call in helicopters and use deadly force 4 Stars Police call in K-9 Unit, Snipers, and SWAT teams

Grand Theft Savage
Well how many times have you actually gotten to 6 stars? 6 seems excessive to me. That's true. Not many people even make it to six. Because there was no difference between forces that tried to stop you at 5 and 6 wanted level in IV, or was there? Yeah, there wasn't much of a difference. blakeney
The same reason my amplifier only goes up to 10 and not 11. lol my Amp goes up to 11, and its a really expensive one In all seriousness though... i think they have given the whole wanted system a shake up, so we needn't compare to the "old" star system.... for all we know (although id bet against it) 1 star is police, 2 is swat, 3 is fbi, 4 is the army and 5 is an alien attack!? GTA2THACORE
Maybe the measurements of the economy was shrinking so they layoff some officers, so with this scenario they had to downgrade the wanted level, which was because they didn't have enough police officers to cover the shift! killahmatic
Sad to see the 6 star wanted level disappear. Personally I think we needed more stars not less, from a variety standpoint. Having 5 stars means police will pursue you in only 5 different ways. No matter what, I just hope they make the wanted system more fun. They made it much better in IV, but it still has a long way to go.
EddoesAndYam
I kinda don't mind what was difference between 5 to 6 in Gta 4? Especially with the episodes with the cops shooting out their cars and swat coming in 1 star less.......but then again what i said works for GTA 4 cause the game didn't have the army
THEBIGZED
What significant difference was there between 3 and 4 stars? I think that may have affected the decision. 3 and 4 are almost the same thing, might as well reduce it to 5.
Dick Valor
Well how many times have you actually gotten to 6 stars? 6 seems excessive to me. This is the point of six stars: the challenge. You never actually make it to six stars during the course of a GTA story, you have to want it. It's a goal. That's why there is a player stat in IV specifically for "time wanted on six stars." Attaining and evading six stars is my favorite pastime in IV free roam. Fortunately, this "five-stars only" theory is most likely false. Am I the only one who finds it suspicious that only one of the dozens of previews mentioned that there were five stars, and that it wasn't even formally mentioned: Once Franklin rammed the armored truck and our characters approached the downed vehicle, the cops showed up. We were at a pretty high alert level: four stars out of five. The cops were bringing in choppers, and we were in for a shootout. That's it! That is the only "confirmation" that there will only be five stars! Not one other reputable reviewer thought to make a big deal or formal announcement about a change to the wanted system that has been consistent since at least III! Considering R* is trying to bring so much back from the III era, doesn't this move seem inconsistent? Isn't the simplest explanation that the Kotaku reviewer simply made a mistake? Until I hear otherwise from R* or even other sources, the six-star wanted level will be returning in V.

I think that may have affected the decision. 3 and 4 are almost the same thing, might as well reduce it to 5. If I'm not mistaken, 3 was when the helicopters came out. 4 is when the SWAT came in those big ass trucks and blocked roads. What was the significance of six stars to begin with? Seems like SWAT showed up after four and that was it. I'm guessing you've never made it to 6 stars before
