ninjapixy
CVG - "Rockstar is promising five times as many pedestrians in GTA V as there were in Grand Theft Auto IV, and although the world isn't fully populated yet, it's still buzzing." Basically, the world wasn't finished yet. the first screen was from the first demo back in 2012. the second and thirs are from the second demo 2 weeks ago theres still 4 months for them to polish it You can't Polish a turd... its just something we need to live with. You can't Polish a turd... but you can roll it in glitter...

Buffalo Soldier
I think absolutely everyone on here has been in agreement since last week - that the screenshot of them standing on top of the bank, is the most UGLIEST screenshot in history. It's ridiculously sh*t looking. Just looks cheap, tacky and fake.
SlappyPwnsAss
What people dont get is that when the game is in motion the graphics are amazing. It was like that in GTA 4, Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire. The screenshots of those games looked meh, but when i was playing the graphics were amazing. GTA 5's screenshots look really good, i can only imagine how good it will look when im playing. cant remember
I think the screens look quite good, and there's only so much you can do on an 8-year old machine. And at night, anywhere that has no streetlights is pitch black IRL.

keybladekyle
I think the difference is that some screens have been taken from live gameplay and some have been taken from some kind of replay feature or something similar to the video editor on PC. Remember in the video editor for GTAIV how if you left the camera in one position for a moment the draw distance would extend out and include more detail? I think we are seeing something like that in some screens, Could be a picture editing or video editing app on the phone or something.

No R* said several times that screens and trailers are always captured in-game. And other magazines said that the screens look like the game itself. And other magazines said that the screens look like the game itself. (First Demo were the first screen is from) I'm not saying the screenshots have been edited, I'm just saying they might have been taken using an in-game feature which boosts up the draw distance a little bit (like the cell phone camera or something)

YoungChrist
Kinda silly how they did that second screenshot you posted. Considering that its nighttime they could just replace cars with bright headlights, instead there are just tons of empty streets.

jsaba2018
when they delayed the game a few months back it wasnt so they can bring quality... it was because they went too hard and had to water it down, the earlier trailers had heaps better graphics than what were being shown now, take a good look, its like gta iv stuff
Dan001
This game is feeling like it's going to be BIG in terms of play quality and content. Draw distance looks normal to me. I never gave a shat about graphics. You want eye-candy go buy a pc with a high-end video card. Let us true GTAers play this masterpiece instead. I'm really digging the color pallet for GTAV. Very fresh and colorful. I think We can all forget about GTAIV now.

GourangaMaster
These consoles are 8 years old. What kind of fackin magic are you expecting them to work with systems that out of date? Game looks great considering its mammoth scale and despite those technical limitations. Sick and tired of all these threads moaning about graphics. Decide when you play the game then atleast when you have another bitch session you'll have first hand experience for your arguments instead of a bunch of screenshots and assumptions. wwinterj
actually they said it will be even less peds. but for realism reason. I've not seen this said anywhere. I've seen the exact opposite. Mind giving a link? "Rockstar says there will be five times as many pedestrians in GTAV as there were in Grand Theft Auto IV" suggests to me people walking the streets and other parts of the map. TheYeast
Are you guy's seriously expecting every car in the city to be loaded when your a mile away? Objects that spawn and move around are different than static objects that will always be there. A building or mountain won't move around, a car will. "Rockstar says there will be five times as many pedestrians in GTAV as there were in Grand Theft Auto IV" suggests to me people walking the streets and other parts of the map. 5 times more means 5 times more different peds walking around so they dont all look the same. Last part of this and the direct beginning of the secon page: http://i.imgur.com/e9J1sh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/e9J1sh.jpg R*: "What we find is that although the number of pedestrians wandering around the streets is reduced, there are always people doing things or hanging around..." marcx
OP, you're much closer to the street on the 1st picture compared to the 2nd and 3rd pictures, it's just normal that you can't see any vehicles on them. It's better than IV's draw distance = me happy.

That's your conclusion solely based on one ugly-ass crappy looking screenshot? It's easily the most unflattering screenshot so far and there have only been a few other shots that didn't look too neat. Most of them look awesome and we should be happy that this developer can actually do miracles, cause that's what it is. It looks like its going to be on par with RDR or even surpass it. Huge achievement i'd say. Look at the three character trailers and the majority of screenshots......GTA IV? I suggest you go play the game again now, see the difference. IDredMan
The other night, I was looking at a mountain, it was pretty much a black cutout of a mountain. My brain must have reduced the render distance on my eyes ...Or the graphics are terrible on IRL.
Raavi
I'm calling it; Real Life graphic suck donkey balls. Whent skydiving the other day and the cars weren't even rendered! Durden
I don't really care about the draw distance, as I doubt I'll ever encounter a scenario where I'll say to myself, "Damnit! If only the draw distance were further -- then I could do [whatever I'm discussing]!" Its not like in SA where you would be flying a Hydra and crash into a tall tree because it rendered 10 meters in front of your plane. Plus, snipers will not have that much range in V to the point where we could fire across the entire map.

I know that from very high it would be normal ( possible in GTA4 on PC though) but at least you should see some cars in the nearby streets cause this looks pretty empty. I dont know on which distance cars did spawn in IV. Someone?
BlackLightning
Straight from Dan Houser: There have been some very nice advances in the lighting and shader model that gives us much more control and variety. The ramp up in scale has been exciting, new features that have meant essentially we draw everything into the distance. We used to “only” render 1.5 km at most in IV, now we render the most distant mountains at the other end of the world many, many miles away. You can even see the little lights on the streets or on buildings draw right into the distance. It all gives the world a whole lot more solidarity. Really though, on a project this size there’s a million things, small and big., that have given us the ability to push the experience. Calm down. The game looks great. Rockstar's got this.
