Maybe there will be checkpoints and a "Retry Mission?" option right after failure, so we can continue it from last checkpoint.

No because that won't happen. If you die in a mission the game will reload to the latest checkpoint. However in freeroam it will be as usual the hospital and 6 hours later.. unless it has been changed.

Maybe you can't play as the character for 6 in game hours rather then just appearing at the hospital 6 hours later

I think they said when a character dies, the mission will restart from the last checkpoint.

But what if you are on freeroam and other character dies? Let me put an example:

 

You jump off an airplane with Franklin and switch to Trevor right before he hits the ground.

 

What would happen? Will a message pop saying Franklin died? Or the game continues as if nothing happened and when you switch back to Franklin we see him walking out of the hospital?

I had so many things to experiment.

 

Like can you find the others characters with one character, If you can, I will follow them to see what are they doing and what will happen if you hit them ?

We will have to wait to play another mission until one comes out of hospital.

They said that if you die, the last checkpoint gets reloaded.

I'm pretty sure it will as per GTA IV. Respawn at the hospital, with an option of trying again (via your phone). I don't think the other two characters will make difference. I think their timelines will be all relative to each other.

In previous GTAs yes. I believe we now just reload from the last checkpoint.
