In GTAIV, when you jump off a rooftop with a motorbike as long as you manage to land straigh you dont get any damage. Thats so unrealistic. Same with cars, they should automatically blow up when hitting the ground from certain height, and even if they dont blow up, you should be injured to almost dead or just die in the crash.

I dont want my car to explode on impact. At the most, the vehicle should be pretty mangled say if you were plummeting to the ground from Mt chilliad. And dying on impact sucks too.

A lot of people complained about your character flying through the windscreen. So what you're suggesting regarding your car exploding after a major impact would infuriate them.

 

And no, contrary to what you see in the movies, cars do not instantaneously explode when they are driven off a cliff. This is a game & even though R* are aiming for more realism, they won't make it realistic if it's detrimental to fun.

That's not realistic at all. It is very rare for a car to catch fire or explode in crash accident. They just turn into a piece of unrecognizable metal.

People need to realize there's a thin line between realism and fun. I don't want to stop at traffic lights or have my car explode on impact every time I chase someone and run into a wall. I don't want to pay for fuel.

Car explodes when falling from certain height but only IF Niko is not in it and IF there is not only collision with the wheels on fall so it only explodes when hitting the bodyshell

Ok, if you're talking about driving a car off the top of a skyscraper (although not sure how you'd do that without using cheats), driving off a sheer cliff high enough to reach terminal velocity or out the back of a cargo plane, then yes, you should at least lose most of your health. However, not if your car tumbles down the side of a mountain (you might get thrown from the car). I mean, John Marston dies if you make him & his horse jump off a cliff.

 

In the end though, the realism will be there to serve gameplay. If realism makes the game less fun or annoying, R* will tone it down. Hence, not dying everytime you're in a serious car accident. Most of us here don't make games, but judging by the responses in this thread, we know that a game must be fun first & foremost.

Yeah, that's pretty lame. It'd be cool to see the tires go all akimbo and your body fly through the windshield. But people love their stunt jumps so it'll probably never change.

That's the only case that I would agree that it would explode on impact. Then again, the original Pintos exploded if you so much as looked at their rear end wrong.

srsly though, I'm kinda with ya on the player damage thing during a hard landing/crash in a vehicle. It just ought to be NOT overdone. Imagine you wanna do all 100 stunt jumps and you die everytime because of the landing or whatever. lel.

In GTA 4, cars did blow up if the hit the ground from a high height, as long as the player isn't inside it. And this thread sucks, that would ruin basically every stunt jump in GTA. If we're removing stunt jumps, lets get rid of hidden packages. While we do that, remove all side activities. Oh, who needs mission? Lets remove those too. Map? Nah, that's useless, Delete it all.
