ArienMC
You must have a terrible life. Buying both on launch and not being able to play the 2 month old game you bought. How do you do it man? How do you make it through the day when you know a burden like that is approaching? This is a forum for a video game right? Am I not allowed to talk about things like this? Would you rather me talk about other things in my life non video game related? I know you're being sarcastic, but this obviously isn't life changing for me. This is just a burden that I wanted to share, and it turns out, I'm not the only one in the same situation.
FutoDriver
Man, how many threads on this are we going to get? Oh no, I got a new machine so suddenly my old one is incapable of being played after this date. A lot of you are delusional about how ports work too, in your mind it's as simple as a press of a button (newsflash : it's ain't that simple). Gameplay wise, I doubt there is any next-gen game at this time that will have the same thought and depth behind it
Diesleman
1.)I hope it doesn't release on next gen. There I said it. I want to actually be able to play the multiplayer for years to come, not just 12months until everyone has stupid next gen consoles which as everyone sais, it's stupid to buy on release because of ridiculous price and no decent games. Or a handful at best. 2.) PS4 isn't backwards compatible locally, & there's no telling if the new xbox will be backwards compatible with disc. So I personally dont see the reason to rush and buy a next gen console straight off, like others have stated they're going to have very few games. 1.) Sounds a bit selfish to me. I hope you know you're not alone, and I doubt the multiplayer will be dead after a year, even if it comes next gen. There are a lot of people who won't be buying a next gen consoles for years. 2.) I've heard that the "720" will have a optional second drive you can buy separately, like the 360 had at launch with the HD DVD drive. That will make the "720" backwards compatible. This will probably be another 100 bucks if true, but It would probably be worth it, and a great way for Microsoft to bring backwards compatibility to the "720". And I have the money for a next gen console, and I've been dying for one for so long now, that I wouldn't be able to wait. The current gen consoles are so outdated. Plus there's already some solid games coming out for it, including Call of Duty: Ghost (with a brand new engine), Watch Dogs, etc. Lol, selfish. Because yeah, I'm totally the one who decides what happens. I'm just saying what would suit me best, besides then they can get on with new games, like red dead for next gen maybe
ArienMC
You guys are going about it all wrong. It's not R*'s problem or job to sell you on the next generation of consoles. While it's true that just about every game company has at least one next generation title in the oven, the install base at this point is non-existent and unpr7 edictable. They jusy spent five years on this game. I have no doubt we'll not only a next generation port but a PC version as well, but all in due time. So, I agree with that many others have said, keep your current consoles as there will be no backwards compatibility next generation except digital releases. I just don't see point in selling off a 7-year investment just spend more money on a system that will maybe two or three breakout games. I always give myself a rule: unless I can confidently name at least six full retail games that I'd want within the launch window (launch day + three months), I will not get that system until it either comes down in price or has more games. So after you buy a new console from let's say between $300-$600, you're also going to drop another $360 on six new games? That's what it would cost for six brand new games IF game prices stayed at $60, and didn't move up to $70. For me, it only take one good open world game (Watch Dogs), or a good multiplayer game (COD: Ghosts or Battlefield 4) to hold me over until something else comes along. I'll be set at launch. Enjoy V and give next gen time to mature. 100% Correct. I understand completely why some people don't want to buy a next gen console at launch. What you're saying isn't wrong, but I am definitely buying one at launch. Like I've said in previous posts, I have the money and I've been waiting for a new generation for a long time. Not buying one at launch isn't part of this discussion. I'm not asking for opinions on whether or not I should. Because I definitely am.
Maggot899
Got some real problems buddy...your therapist will have a lot to answer for. I heard the next xbox has a feature that when plugged in, it will send out a beacon to any old console you have in your house and flash it so it becomes useless. I'm glad this feature is being added because I can't be bothered to even think about hooking up the old console to play all the awesome games that I own. Dope_0110
So you people are going to buy a new console day one to play those three games that will be available and would also like to complain that possibly the biggest and best (feature and mechanics wise) game of this generation won't be available on that new console because R* just spent 5 years making it work on current get that has millions of users worldwide. Instead you want them to delay the game a few months and make it work on your brand new console so that they can sell it to a few hundred thousand people who will buy it so soon and end up with selling 100 000 copies of their game that would normally sell about 30 mill... yeah, makes sense. I'm not bashing anyone here, but you do sound snobish, especially those who plan to keep their old console but ''don't wanna play the old thing'' now that they've got a new one. Honestly, if you get PS4 or 720 and won't play GTA because it's on PS3 or 360 that you actually still own, then you don't deserve to play it at all. It would be awesome for them to release it on next gen though, even if it's not right at launch. Also I said I want to sell my 360 and PS3 and put that money towards a new console. But if it's not coming to next gen then I will keep my 360 so I can still play GTA V. But obviously I would rather sell my 360 and put the money towards a next gen console, and then buy GTA V again for the next gen if it was available. See where I'm coming from? And even if there were only 3 games at launch (there will actually be a lot more) that would be $180 dollars for those 3 games. You think after I buy a new consoles I would also drop another $180 right away? No. I will buy one or two games, at first and then buy more as more become available/ I get bored of the ones I'm playing. Edit: Also what we're saying is the game would launch with both current and next gen consoles. So that "100,000" extra copies sold with next gen consoles, would make sense. You don't think Rockstar want to sell a extra 100,000 extra copies?

You shouldn't complain about to many options though, in reference to choosing between playing 5 or next gen games.

His post is actually 100% irrelevant to what I was saying. See my reply up above. I really don't know why some of you can't understand what I'm saying. Just because you're not buying a next gen console, doesn't mean other people aren't. I wanted to sell my 360 and PS3 as soon as I bought a next gen console. But unless Rockstar releases it for next gen, I will have to hold on to one of my consoles to play it, instead of selling it, and using the money I got from it to buy a new console. This thread is about how I want it to come to next gen consoles, as well as current. This is the last time I'm explaining myself, and if you can't understand that, I feel sorry for you. Dope_0110
@ArienMC I wasn't speaking directly to you but to most on this topic, and some did suggest delaying it or keeping both consoles etc. I understand your reasons, but honestly I think a game like GTA is alone worth staying on old console for a while. I'm sure for at least half a year there won't be any nex-gen titles that will be any better than old-gen except for some new graphical enhancements that PC games have had for years. So again, buying it immediately really makes no sense to me as there will be a small number of games and they won't be nothing revolutionary. Just look at first games on PS3 and 360, then look at games on same consoles released a year later. Maybe Rockstar will make some new version for next-gen along with PC that would probably just add bigger textures and a few other graphical features, repack it and sell it. But I'm sure they will follow the market, see how those new consoles are selling, then decide whether it's worth it or not to make a port for those. tinman187
When the 360 first came out, the majority of games on PS2 and Xbox at the time were far better. I was still playing San Andreas at the time and had zero interest in going next gen. San Andreas was still the best game on the market. Bully was also decent and that had just dropped at the time. Madden 06 on PS2 was a million times better than the next gen version. I'll take GTA V over any next gen game right now, unless of cause there was a GTA for next gen, then maybe. But I'm pretty sure V will still be the best game on the market even after next gen console's debut.
thestoneman420
I couldn't give two sh*ts about next-gen. With V coming on current gen consoles, I won't need this next-gen crap for another 2 years atleast. Probably, as I did for the 360, wait for the next GTA/Rockstar game before I even consider getting one. People give the current gen consoles way too much slack, we didn't start getting revolutionary games until about 2 - 3 years into its cycle. Rockstar are kinda proving that it still has 'steam in its engines'.
Finn 7 five 11
Am I the only one bummed this is coming out so close to next gen consoles? It will release a mere 2 months before. I don't know about anyone else, but after I buy a next gen console (which I will day one) I won't want to go back to the old ones. And it's probably 99% accurate to say they won't be backwards compatible. It just sucks because I know I'm going to want to play this game for longer than 2 months, and I was planning on selling both my Xbox and PS3 right when the new consoles came out. Now it's looking like I have to hold on to one of them for one game, which is extremely annoying. Hopefully Rockstar ends up putting it on the next gen consoles as well, or I'm screwed. I believe they'll have a release for both current gen and next gen like with Bully. Makes sense really.
