I'm gonna put my two cents here. I personally don't really care about going into the sea, in san Andreas, probably spent less than a hour total under water, and I played that game a lot! And I think that it's wasted space that could of Been a bigger map or more interiors.

After the wow factor has gone and you have done (the stupid imo) treasure hunt stuff, what are you really going to do? Look at the fish and coral? There's much rather do a thousand other things first.

But that's my opinion.

I would think so, this alone will be worth it biggrin.gif Hiding down in a shipwreck because you know a shark is about.. watching the shark grab the ped and the water turning red.

The point about how much time you spent in the water in the past games I think is irrelevant.

Never before have you had submarines, scuba gear.. diving for a purpose.. treasure.. hidden things.. the ability to explore, Sharks and other sea creatures to interact with.. a proper detailed ocean ...

This is all new and you will not have experienced it to compare.

I get bored of just using the streets.. I like the thought of being able to jump out of a heli and diving into a sea full of life or other possibilities.. the thought of throwing peds into the water wand watching them be attacked.. makes the boats more useful.. means we can enjoy jetskis.. I think the water will be great. icon14.gif

You should be excited..

Its a new style of gameplay..

Remeber R* does not follow the same pattern for every game.. that is why they impress us.

My question is if u are very far away from cost and ur boat got destroyed how would you get back on shore?

Isn't it 3.5x the size of RDR and 5x bigger when adding the water in the mix?

Still much bigger.

Incorrect, it is 3x the size (or 3.5x) of Red Dead Redemption WITH the underwater being included. And from the previews, the underwater portion is HUGE which means that the actual land part is only like 2x or 2.5x bigger than RDR which really isn't that big when you facter in the fact that there will be cars and planes. Remember, in RDR we got around on horse which was a bit slower which in essence made the world feel huge.

This is exactly what I am talking about, people will be in for a huge letdown when they actually play the game. I think people aren't accounting for the fact that the underwater takes up a huge part of the game as the previews say and that the actual land won't be as big as we all hype it to be.

Majestic, you really should check your own "facts" before saying someone is wrong , especially when they were correct in the first place.. This comment comes from GTAV.net the forums main site

"The map 3.5 times the size of Red Dead Redemption in terms of playable area above ground. Five times if you count underwater area."

This is how stuff misquoted and misquoted until its believe to be true, even though it is not....

@MajesticJazz

Do you have GTA:SA?

I'll say go search for shelps underwater in SA and imagine how V's underwater exploration will be  cool.gif.

I'm playing it right now, lol.

Yes, I have GTA SA and played it. My point is that Rockstar said that they shot down the concept of having multiple cities because they wanted to focus on just one. Yet they turn around and make a DETAILED underwater section which takes up about 30% of the map in certain perspectives.....but yet they just wanted to focus on Los Santos/country-side.

Furthermore, people really wont be going underwater much. Yes, at first people will play with it because it is new and different, but after they get the gist of it, they will be back on the streets doing GTA stuff and the underwater protion will be just that thing on the side that nobody really cares for.

Again, nobody answered my question. If you had the choice of having San Fierro or Las Venturas instead of this detailed underworld stuff which would you choose?

Well the deal is we don't have that choice and NEVER did have one neither did rockstar. Not once has it been stated ANYWHERE "we were gonna add another city then decided f*ck it lets detail the ocean" your just pulling that out of your ass because it some how makes sense in YOUR head...

Nope, definitely false. They clearly said it's five times bigger with the water area, and 3 or 3.5 without it.

Although it's out of character of the usual GTA theme so to speak, every game needs to develop and change in some ways to grow or it just becomes stale and rehashed over time. I think it's a really interesting addtion that could be very cool but that being said, if it not including it would have meant a smoother game or more detail/area to the land then I might have opted for that instead. Even though we can always find something to complain about I really don't see this game disappointing anyone... I really think it's going to go down as the game that defined this generation of consoles.

I'm terrified of deep water/sharks, spiders and heights but at the same time I'm very fascinated about them.... So weirdly enough I'm really looking forward to scuba diving &

Parachuting.

I thought the same.. What if we cannot switch as we are in diving suite?

we cannot leave a character at some serious situation as R* told...

Not much of an argument here. Just someone making a pretentious, false claim and everybody telling that one person he was very wrong.

Well, I was expecting to read "They could've put LV & SF in the game instead.". So congratulations on not writing that, I suppose.

Sure they could create more landmass instead, but it would only be more of what we're already going to get. So I'd rather have a fully explorable ocean, instead of a few extra square miles of the same thing.

Good post OP. I too am not hyped for underwater. As in terms of water, I am only interested in sharks and that's all.

Many people know they would have chosen multiple cities over underwater exploration and they know it.

I think a lot of people look over what this means for multiplayer.

In Gay Tony free mode if you had buzzard spammers pinning you down inside a building you had very few options.

Now you can escape to the sea and with the scuba gear you can stay down and move around the map safely.

I have a question. Okay. They confirmed Los Santos to as ever, be an island. They've confirmed a fully detailed, explorable ocean floor. Alright, well if you swim out to the border (while diving in gear of course) of the ocean, will it be repeated textures or what exactly would happen?

I'm getting sick and tired of these "I hate this, I hate that" threads. Why would you want more landmass when we already have one giant metropolitan area and huge countryside. Underwater exploration is something that adds so much depth ( no pun intended) to the game, it really takes exploration to the next level. Imagine: diving just to check out the scenery and stumbling upon an old crashed WW2 bomber covered in reefs, or a titanic-like sunken ship.. Aww the possibilities. Just mesmerizing.
