djv3n0m
OP just realized no more this in multiplayer Why you mad about it though , is it that bad that R* takes the time and effort to add something different in their game.....In the end you still have the choice to go in or not it isn't called GTAV Welcome To Atlantis it's just a little extra for the people who do want depth in the 60$ they just forked in
littleBIGman
I for one am really excited by this, i cannot wait to explore ship wrecks and find treasure. I also love the fact that their is scuba gear on most boats, at least this time the ocean will have more purpose!! What i want to know is can i put my scuba gear on and drive a car into the ocean and stay in the drivers seat whilst underwater with my scuba gear on? ChocoFrosty
Again, nobody answered my question. If you had the choice of having San Fierro or Las Venturas instead of this detailed underworld stuff which would you choose? Honestly, people would just complain that they left out the third city. And then we'd hear things like, "What's the point of letting us go underwater if there's hardly anything else there than what was in SA?" But they'd be even more upset if we weren't able to go underwater at all in V. The only way R* could please everyone is by somehow building a 100 square mile, epic masterpiece with 5+ cities AND a detailed ocean floor. I'm not saying that I wouldn't love a bigger map, but no matter how big it gets, there will be someone there to complain about the wasted underwater space. Sigh. kasa
It seems Rockstar gives a lot info about the water and the countryside. Im not going to swim around the whole time. for me the city is the most important!
tinman187
They say that without the underwater exploration, GTA V is bigger than Red Dead Redemption by 3.5 times. That's pretty f*cking large!!!! I just started playing RDR by the way and the map itself is gigantic, imo it's twice the size of IV if not it's very close. With that in mind, that would make the 'V' almost seven times larger than 'IV'. Which is insane! That doesn't even include the underwater exploration. Rockstar adding the underwater detail is just a credit to how hard they work. They could've easily just left it as it was like in IV and focus on the already massive world they had in front of them, and no one would've complained. I don't think any company work's as hard as Rockstar does on their game's. They always seem to go the extra mile.

Dark Amun Re
Just imagine, in MP one group is trying to get rid of another group(of course by boats). And the group who is chasing the other one tries to take them down with an harpoon. This is hilarious
gtafanny
if there werent underwater exploration and flyable planes I honestly wouldnt want play GTA V. gta5freemode4eva
I'm not hyped about it but I'm looking at it as something extra to do to either break up the 'land' gameplay and/or more to do after I've smashed (completed etc) the game. But I am intrigued as to where it leads, there must be caves n stuff.
Kill Frenzy!
I'm not hyped either about under water exploration and I don't care about it too much. Even in SA I did. I will aways prefer Land.
zainzombie
Just ride up to the top of Nekoti Rock, and stare down at the vast landscape of RDR. All the way to mexico. That much is going to be underwater. More than that. Put another mexico in there. THAT'S INSANE. What in the hell are they gonna put down there, Atlantis? That would be so cool. Like a sunken city, not really realistic but would be fun to explore.

samo1980
Again, I believe we are ALL going to be in for a surprise at just how small the land portion really is when we get our hands on the game. You can tell just from photos that the map is bigger than any previous GTA game. That alone should be enough to shut people up. Its the largest map a GTA game has ever had, and people still whine about the size of it... Also, 20%-25% bigger doesn't make any sense. From the photos you can tell the city is only bit smaller than all of Liberty City & Alderney combined. Which you also need to keep in mind that IV looked bigger because the city was on separate islands, separated by water, whereas the city of LS is all together. Then you have the mountain, which will clearly take up a good chunk of land.. You have the desert which is seemingly a decent size...and that still leaves farmland and forest, and of course the hills area where Michael lives. As for underwater exploration, I don't really care either way. Not a lot of action can happen underwater, but it does give added freedom to the game. This. Just what I wanted to say I guess I'm one of the few who's not disappointed about anything. The map is going to be huge...! gta_fan28
I'm hype as hell in this feature it's one of my long time wish to be included in GTAV cause I always go underwater in GTA SA but something missing like the Scuba gear and submarine. I understand that not all gtafan like this feature and they think it's just waste of time and space for the game. I respect their opinion but all I'm asking is give this new feature a chance and maybe you will like when you try it especially R* took so much effort for this new feature. harry246
I cannot wait to grab a submarine and go exploring. Or even take a boat out to the middle of the sea and go scuba diving! Who knows what R* will have hidden within the depths of the ocean. I know everyone has their personal opinion, but you should really stay open minded and reserve judgement on all aspects of the game until you've played it. Who knows, maybe the whole underwater experience might be one of the games greatest features!
Triggern0metry1
@MajesticJazz Do you have GTA:SA? I'll say go search for shelps underwater in SA and imagine how V's underwater exploration will be . I'm playing it right now, lol. Yes, I have GTA SA and played it. My point is that Rockstar said that they shot down the concept of having multiple cities because they wanted to focus on just one. Yet they turn around and make a DETAILED underwater section which takes up about 30% of the map in certain perspectives.....but yet they just wanted to focus on Los Santos/country-side. Furthermore, people really wont be going underwater much. Yes, at first people will play with it because it is new and different, but after they get the gist of it, they will be back on the streets doing GTA stuff and the underwater protion will be just that thing on the side that nobody really cares for. Again, nobody answered my question. If you had the choice of having San Fierro or Las Venturas instead of this detailed underworld stuff which would you choose? I'd choose the underwater sea portion because I want the map to be as varied as possible. I like the fact that R* have decided to focus on one city and it's surrounding area. I know I'll be spending the majority of the time in the countryside and underwater.
ALeSsAnDrO
At first I was thinking exactly like the OP. I dont care much about the underwater part, and when R* first said the game would be bigger than this and that WITH the underwater added in, I was pretty skeptical of the real "hugeness" of the map. The thing is, they were very clear this time around: GTA V's map is bigger than Red Dead Redemption by 3.5 times, NOT INCLUDING sea exploration. This sentence is kind of a relief to me, and one that I will keep in memory when comparing the actual world size in September.
THUNDER-TRUMP
Its only being pushed in the media to show the world 'hey we have included this to.' Maybe one or two missions will force the player to delve below the water. Other than that it will be completely optional if you chose to do it or not. So if underwater exploration isnt your cup of tea, then dont do it. Simple/ As for the water diminishing the landmass, the map thats been revealed so far shows that the landmass seems as big as San-An AT LEAST, that would be big enough for me. That landmass and skybox would be perfectly fine to have plenty of fun in. Edited May 8, 2013 by manntheftauto
cuoreviola89
You have to consider how big the land in this game is. Obviously also the water around will be more... The land is 5/7 and the water 2/7: it sounds pretty normal to me since we're talking about a (huge) island. Think to a rectangle 5cm * 5cm. all around it a 0,5cm large border: here is your water. Not so much honestly. Edited May 8, 2013 by cuoreviola89
michaelpece
Just think how much bigger the actual map would be if they didn't bother with the (IMO) pointless underwater stuff. You couldn't dive in GTA IV and that was fine. Unless there's something REALLY interesting down there (unlikely) I think they've wasted a lot of resources on it which could be better spent elsewhere.
