Cyfa
Well, they may eventually make a map that's actually pretty big by sandbox game standards. Yeah, GTA V might have a map of quite a decent size (especially compared to other maps from R*), but it'll still be dwarfed by dozens upon dozens of other sandbox game maps out there. I'm talking of upwards to a hundred square miles (GTA V's will probably be closer to 30 square miles if R* is not over exaggerating the map size like they did with GTA IV). Quality, not quantity The cities will be quality. They've already created Liberty City and Los Santos, at the most they'll go back and add maybe a few more buildings to LC and some more land mass to LS, other than that all they need to do is create Miami which is relatively easy compared to New York and Los Angeles. The real task will be creating the interiors and finding ways to make the game run at a decent FPS while still allowing players to go into at least 65% of buildings in the game. Blazevski12
I belive the next gta is Vice City, and then a gta with all the cities and then they will end the series.
JStarr31
Easy.... Since undewater and scuba is now apart of GTA, modern day Vice City with a young and ambitious Cuban protag. Drug running is the theme with 3 "cities" as destinations: Vice City, The Locks, Cottonmouth. Place everglades/swamp between VC and Cottonmouth with scuba and airboat drug running. Then a fully detailed ocean floor between VC and The Locks with freight boat and submarine drug running. All leading up to 6 big drug runs. Throw in: Empire building (VCS), human shields, mugging peds, interactive car trunks/boots, rope, fully realized melee combat and everything in V Hell if the 3 protag thing works out add a slick yet crooked Jewish dude and a niave hillbilly from the swamp who was never taught right from wrong... Dope_0110
I belive the next gta is Vice City, and then a gta with all the cities and then they will end the series. Who in their right mind would end the series that makes BILLIONS. They will only end the game once it stops making money, but since they keep making a great game each time, I don't see that happening. My assumption on next GTA would be Vice City and Liberty City together. And Liberty will probably be reimagines once again and it will be a different GTA universe. Kiffster
Imo, literally every GTA so far is better than the previous one (talking about my pc titles, not psp ones). So I see no reason why the next GTA should not be better than GTAV (and I already know V will be the best one ever). R* will do it again, trust me!!! Travís.
But its not like Gta IV topped San Andreas... They're both great games in different ways. san andreas was great cause there was so much to do and so much to explore with country side and gambling at casinos IV was great because the graphics were great to look at, it was such an improvement, and the realism made it great. Now V will have both of those thing and be amazing.
junkpile
Easy. 1.First off, next gen and improved graphics. Our eyes get used to improvements and better graphics so easily and fast, we wouldn't want to miss them anymore. 2. Even if GTA V will be the best GTA so far, there is not such thing as a perfect game. It would mean everyone is satisfied. But already now you see people not liking LS, the protagonists, the realism, no zombies, etc. So Rockstar can easily implement things in GTA VI which go into another direction. F.e. bring back girlfriends, put in a single protagonist, etc. 3. Maybe the majority of players gets bored by the high quality graphics and complex gameplay and cry for something like another Chinatown Wars, another GTA in 2D. Which will, against point 1 look old, but feel fresh and be funnier than the HD era games.
TheQuestfor100Percent
I believe they will eventually do a multiple city game that includes London. Its the only city they haven't recreated in 3D, I think.
Killerdude
Well, They could increase the detail of current features, like for instance, Weapon customization, I bet in GTA V it is going to be very simple, a few attachments and we're done, BUT in future GTA's we could get the option to customize the entire gun, from stocks, grips, barrels etc.. zainzombie
Lets suppose this game surpass every other GTA or even R* game in terms of popularity and success, even then people will want a new GTA game after 5 years which will be better in terms of how IV was better than SA but not as much fun. I can see VI being GTA IV in the next gen era.
saintsrow
When The Sims/ SimCity merge with GTA for an online extravaganza....like a GTA: Second Life...where the community builds the map as they go along. In order to make places that are big enough and rich enough in unique detail, yes, developers should do this. The company that does this well by providing an excellent design environment to the masses, plus excellent curation quality, will succeed. Second Life tried hard to do this, but with no curation, millions of amateurs, and only a few game-quality designers, and Second Life virtual real estate is waaaaay too expensive. A missed opportunity. Nonetheless, some people tried very hard to create decent combat sims and some other games in SL, with some success.
Dark Amun Re
They should start creating new cities for exsample: Paris, Berlin, Moskau, Tokyo, Sydney and and and. The recreating thing is nice but somehow boring too. GTA is my favorite game series, but i want to see some new cities in the upcoming gta´s. Romans Cousin Niko
It is going to be a challenge to top GTA V from what we've seen of the game so far. Perhaps next gen hardware (and disc space for the next Xbox) will enable Rockstar to make a truly gigantic world with many Los Santos sized cities and entirely different environments from forrests to deserts. Perhaps it could be a new area altogether - although Vice City looks like a strong candidate considering the HD revamps that LC and LS have had. The only thing I know for sure about the next GTA is that it will be 'a few' years before we see another.

MikeyBelic
Every console generation has a GTA that ends with a bang. This final console-ending GTA game is always the best f*cking game ever, according to the trend of SA and now V. Just imagine how good the GTA will be that ends the PS4/X720 lifecycle. I believe that will be the GTA with multiple cities, not to mention near photorealistic graphics. What were Libery City Stories and Vice City Stories too you? DanDud88
Yea they did say they wanted to do an even bigger GTA featuring Liberty City (with staten Island and Catskill mountains GTA equivalents), Vice City, with Everglade equivalent and San Andreas with San Fierro and Las Venturas plus Roads in between, such as route 66. N0Xaeris
1. More cities. GTA V will be fantastic, but the sheer scope of the world in GTA San Andreas is still hard to touch. I'd love to see three full cities in VI. 2. Different cities. We've seen a lot of Liberty, Vice, and San Andreas over the past decade. A new setting would make VI that much more exciting. I agree up till Vice. We actually haven't seen much of Vice city, I think it's due for the new gen touch up, including places like the Everglades and other cities around it would create a whole different environment. Then again, we haven't seen London since the first gen so is it possible we might be seeing that soon?

HaythamKenway
We don't know how big V will be yet. But I can already think of few things next GTA could have that V probably won't - more story choices, every mission branching similary to V's heist missions depending on your decisions and how you played previous missions, expanded empire building from Vice City Stories, with gang building (building your own organization, with leveling NPC gangsters etc.) and of course, bigger map maybe with multiple LC-sized cities, more minigames, features and anything you can think of. V seems to be R*'s best and biggest game right now, but there are many ways to top it.

1987_EC
dont worry at all OP theres still lots of space for innovation, in an open world genre game like gta you can have potentially an infinite number of possibilities and stuff you can add to the game, also graphics will keep on getting better and better until they reach complete photorealism same thing will happen with physics in games..
