woggleman
Since they have the crazy fun in there they can also take the time to put in some of the classic GTA satire. When I look at Micheal s trailer I see what so many men these days are going through in their marriages these days. With a 50% divorce rate and many marriages that do stay together utterly loveless and miserable it is a story many will relate to. Most men are not criminals but they deal with the issues Michael faces in the trailer. The stuff I have seen around me has made me very cynical about marriage and I hope R approaches this right and also shows Micheal getting his balls and his mojo back. stranger44
Michael is the character I relate to the least. He's rich, has a family, has obviously lead an interesting life and yet he's torn between continuing an exhilarating life of crime or spending time with his family? Am I supposed to feel sorry for this guy? lol. He has everything. He's kind of an odd character.
œaœa
Michael is the character I relate to the least. He's rich, has a family, has obviously lead an interesting life and yet he's torn between choosing an exhilarating life of crime or spending time with his family? Am I supposed to feel sorry for this guy? lol. He has everything. It doesn't matter if you relate with him. It's about the content of his character, which I think is great. That being said, yes I hope Rockstar does this. Seems to be the case from the GI previews anyway.
woggleman
Show the trailer to almost any married man that age you know and see if they relate or not. That trailer shows exactly the situation I never want to be in.

Why would we judge him on the colour of his skin? because he make a sexy time with his mother-in-law.

You need to look at his existential predicament. Like Michael, we all have things we take for granted. Michael has gotten everything he wanted, but he still wants more. I think we can all relate to the deep sense of disappointment Michael feels with his life, seeking fulfillment from without and yet still feeling empty from within. You see a man with a mansion and a sports car, but Michael feels like a bird in a gilded cage... he has everything and nothing. I don't think that's odd... I think that's very typical. It's a different take on the disillusionment of the American Dream that we explored with Niko in IV.

It's a different take on the disillusionment of the American Dream that we explored with Niko in IV. Exactly, Niko went after the dream, Michael got that American Dream. And then we see what happens next, you don't just live happily ever after. He has no purpose any more, his wild youth never allowed him to raise a family while he thought giving them everything they want means being a great husband/father. So he's miserable, nothing to live for except making himself a new challenge, proving yet again that he can do something in his life.
Racecarlock
It's funny how people thought michael would get the most "Grown up" story arc, yet most of his character seems to be "Bored rich white dude".

Why would we judge him on the colour of his skin? Because certain other protags may or may not have been judged by the color of their skin. It is a grown up story. Like I said before show this trailer to any married man his age and they can relate.
Dick Justice
What's all this talk about how you relate to a character? As human beings, we can relate to just about anyone or anything, so "he's not really anything like me," is one of the stupidest things you could say. Of course he isn't like you, I would hope that Franklin and Trevor aren't either. I can watch Scarface and empathize with Tony Montana, yet I'm not a drug-dealing coke-head Cuban immigrant living in Miami.
AirWolf856
It makes me wish that Michael's family was setup by the FIB and part of his cover. It would make it easy for him to separate himself from his family when the case arises. I still wish his entire family dies and at the end you see Michael, Franklin and Trevor ride off in the sunset together.

It would be interesting though if after finding out he is a criminal his wife is oddly more attracted to him.

The Satire in GTA tends to be a satire on the times and the sorry state of modern marriage seems like a good thing to take aim at.

Neo Arcadia
He seems to want to get back in actually. I know. Michael is a giant middle finger to the "escape from crime" story, Trevor is the personification of the typical GTA player, and Franklin wants to escape from gangbanging... to get into big time crime. It's an amazing departure from IV.

It's an amazing departure from IV. They all seem very keen on being criminals. Even Franklin seems to want to get into a higher and more lucrative level of crime.
