Sgt. Foley
Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets has once again left Ubisoft, Game Informer reports. Désilets originally left Ubisoft in 2010, then joined THQ in 2011. In the wake of THQ’s bankruptcy and Ubisoft’s acquisition of their Montreal studio, Désilets was brought back into the fold. But according to Game Informer’s sources, the relationship between the designer and the Ubisoft are as prickly as ever. Two of Désilets’s projects, “1666″ and “Underdog,” are rumored to have been cancelled. Ubisoft has since confirmed Désilets’s departure, but remain tightlipped about the specifycs—citing only a failure to align their respective visions. “The acquisition of THQ Montréal in January allowed Ubisoft to welcome 170 experienced developers, including Patrice Désilets, to our existing and renowned workforce,” reads a statement issued to Game Informer. “Unfortunately, since the acquisition, the good faith discussions between Patrice and Ubisoft aimed at aligning Patrice’s and the studio’s visions have been inconclusive. As a result, Patrice has left the studio. Our priorities remain with the teams already hard at work on projects in development. They are at the root of Ubisoft Montréal’s past and future successes.” Update: Désilets issued the following statement by way of his agent: “Contrary to any statements made earlier today, this morning I was terminated by Ubisoft. I was notified of this termination in person, handed a termination notice and was unceremoniously escorted out of the building by two guards without being able to say goodbye to my team or collect my personal belongings. “This was not my decision. “Ubisoft’s actions are baseless and without merit. I intend to fight Ubisoft vigorously for my rights, for my team and for my game.” http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/assass...eparts-ubisoft/
Grand Theft Savage
Ubisoft needs to completely crumble and sell their game ideas to someone else. I hate the way they do business. And it's F'd up how they cancelled this guy's game.

G The Generous
huh, way to treat a guy who created for them a great franchise (already turned to sh*t though) that bring them sh*t ton of money.
DODI3OG
huh, way to treat a guy who created for them a great franchise (already turned to sh*t though) that bring them sh*t ton of money. I hated Assassin's Creed right after they turned AC Brotherhood into a DLC-oriented sh*tgame. The only way that kept me playing is the alternate history it has. Finn 7 five 11
He really spelt specifics with a y? Patrick Desilets didn't spell "Specifics" like that, whoever wrote the article did, It was probably a key mispress considering they are only two keys over from each other. I think there is a little more to the story actually, I think him being "Escorted" would probably have been the result of some angry outburst or something. Most of the time, people who get fired, get fired for decent reasons, Ubisoft doesn't seem to be downsizing so the reason this guy is gone is probably something to do with poor attitude. Durden
I wonder what the real reason for his departure is. I can't believe that Ubisoft fired him just because he self-resigned a few years ago.

acmilano
Bad way to treat somebody who created your best-selling franchise. Still,he live them first time and went to THQ,and then Ubi bought THQ so they probably just didn't want to bother wit him again. Hope that guy will find a job somewhere else like Rockstar Toronto and make even better series than AC,which is one of my favorite. And i hope he will return to Ubisoft HQ one day in these style:
Mr. Reaper.
Guy sounds like he's been jumping from company to company. I guarantee there is a lot more that what this article leads us to believe. As for the Assassin's Creed series, hopefully now that the head has be cut off the body will fall. Assassin's Creed, although decent has really gone downhill at a rapid rate. corvettelover
This just seems to be a pissed off ex employee looking for attention. I bet there is alot more to this "story" than what he's saying, he just probably wants to make Ubi look bad. Too many Assassins Creeds anyways. Ash_735
I see a few people above think this means the AC series will now die, NO, morons, read the article. He CREATED the series but LEFT the company AFTER AC2 was released (what most consider the last original AC game). He joined THQ where he's been working on a new game since, THQ died and UbiSoft (of all the companies) bought the licence and rights for this new game. Rumours are that UbiSoft wanted him to co-work on the AC series to, but he refused stating that he only wants to work on this game he's created, and now he's been fired. UbiSoft were happy to milk the AC series without him already, they just wanted to get him back working on it, which backfired, and sadly he's now had to leave behind ANOTHER game he's created in the hands of UbiSoft. GunWrath
Too many Assassins Creeds anyways. That is probably the most dumbfounded thing I've heard so far. That's like saying, 'Too many GTA's anyways.'
Happyness
AC2 & Brotherhood were the last good AC games, rest of 'em, suck. Even though I was a HUGE fan of the series, not looking forward to AC IV, unless the reviews are good.
El Dildo
"Oh my god. What happened here, boss?" "Hmm. Seems as though Patrice was a product of his own creation." "So what are you saying?" "What I'm saying is..." "It looks like Patrice Désilets, finally got himself..." "ASSASSINATED." Edited May 11, 2013 by El_Diablo
