We keep hearing the "map will be bigger than SA, RDR and IV combined" bit, but what about in comparison to Just Cause 3's map? I think it's safe to say GTA V map's size will be somewhere in the middle of the previous R* titles and Just cause 3... (SA,RDR,IV < GTA V < JC3) So that brings up my question.. A rockstar official himself as stated the whole game is basically still a secret. Remember, GTA is the only open world game that has SO much detail. They've said its bigger RDR, SA and IV combined. Ie- A "medium" drink from Taco Bell equates to- really f*cking large, or what would be an XXL in a healthier country. MEDIUM is a good thing, at times. Of course it's gonna be somewhat barren compared to GTA's worlds. I'd say that the JC2 map is still really fun to explore, though. I don't want this game to look as poor as TDU 2's graphics just so the map can be huge. On a different note, god is R* hiding a lot. I mean most of these new screens are of places we've already seen. Other than that just wait for it to come out then be shocked at the size of it. Dont expect it to be thousands & thousands of miles because you'll end up disappointed.
