With the recent news of finally being able to customize our guns, do you think the silencers will actually serve a purpose? I want to be able to shoot someone with no cops around with a silencer and not get a wanted level. I remember it didn't work too well in San Andreas and even if no cops were around, you would still get a wanted level. I hope that the silencer actually does work this time, as it will make role playing as, for example, an assassin a lot better.

A static + stealth skill while attatched to a weapon perhaps?

Yes because the Police AI has been improved. Silencer reduces the gun noise a lot so it won't be easy for the police.

but if a cop actually see you shoot someone, it doesn't matter if you have silencer or not smile.gif

But when he is just walking around at the other side, silencer should work right.

Well in real life "silencers" don't silence a gun at all, they SUPPRESS the decibel level.. This is why they are called suppressors and not silencers, you can still hear them, but they make it far less likely you will be heard, especially at distance....

I'm definitely using some tactical espionage tactics to beat some missions. Wonder if we can dress michael up like solid snake? ph34r.gif

ii understand suppressors only soften the noise, but come on in the movies and tv the guns are silent so thats what we want. And yes they will work. If you listened to CVGs video about the demo, you would know how it will work similar to MP3. Every time you fire a weapon a beacon fans out from your position on the mini map.

you dont have to look at the whole video but just look at the mini map on the bottom left when they fire their weapons.

when you have a suppressor equipped there is no fan or no action of any kind. in fact you are invisible to players focused on the firing from the map. you wouldnt believe how well this works. People are oblivious to where you are at most of the time.....tho they do sacrifice loss of damage delt so im sure every attachment will have its drawbacks.

Yes they will have a significant effect on your ability to remain un-detected, I believe in one preview (I cannot recall witch) they said your mini map has a new feature that that keeps track of your line of sight and the sound of your weapon.

It better work. It will add alot of fun to gameplay.

It will add more fun and add to the stealth mechanics of the game. It seems like I read on one preview that you can choose to either go in guns blazing or sneak in the roof or something and since you can replay missions, you can do both ways.

What would be the point of them if not mercie_blink.gif

Gay Tony DLC had a silenced rifle but it didn't do its job at all. Shoot someone with it and the cops would notice right away. Silencers/supressors MUST work. I'm so goddamn glad that they are back, just gonna have fun picking people off at night with a supressed weapon, without always those pesky cops noticing it.

I love the sound of submachine guns with suppressors on them. It's just so damn epic.

I'm really hope that they do serve a purpose. I remember in Scarface: The World is Yours for PS2, the cops would always get on your ass for shooting someone. Add a suppressor and make sure there were no witnesses, no cops. GTA V should try to go along those lines.

Well they said in CVG that there was a so called noise radius so I guess U wont get cops after U that easily but what if there are many civilians seeing U shoot someone? There was a guy taking a pic/video of Trevor while he punched 1 guy in the trailer so what if there appears a sign on the map that shows who's calling 911? like the witnesses in RDR who ran to tell the sheriff what happened.

I know there were stealth knife kills in SA but I can't remember if the silenced gun worked. Good Lord, it's been a long time since I've played SA.

But yeah, I'll be really let down if the modifications are purely cosmetic.

as someone already stated, most of the times on videogames the addition of a suppressor means the weapon will cause less damage than without one. this never made any sense to me because in real life the addition of a suppressor usually causes more damage. the longer the barrel the more muzzle velocity you get from the projectile, so when you fasten 4 or 5 more inches of barrel to the gun in the form of a suppressor you are firing the same projectile as before at a higher velocity which means more energy

Enemies should be able to use them too to make missions a little trickier.

Hopefully if there is witnesses we can bribe them to not go to the law...

jk bribing is for pussies, just blow their brains out lol

Aw man, a suppressed Shotgun like the one from No Country For Old Men would be nice.

Well the previews said we can customize our weapons with all kinds of add-ons, so i hope they just keep the possibilities limitless, so that we can indeed put a silencer on a shotgun. Didn't Max Payne 3 have a silenced shotgun in both singleplayer and multiplayer?

Hmm... I don't remember it if there is one. I didn't play multiplayer much so I didn't look much into it. Anyway, I agree. I hope that when they say we can customize our weapons, they mean all the weapons, including shotguns.

I really hope they don't screw up silencers and the wanted level.

I hope firing a silenced weapon while high up a roof, sniping people wont suddenly alert everyone to your exact position. I hope i will be able to perform my own assassinations and be able to put the weapon away and walk off without a wanted level. Theres nothing i hate more in games that have a stealth system that doesnt work and enemies turn on a dime and shoot at you.

Unless my memory is failing me bad, i could swear that the silenced pistol in SA worked quite well actually. I'm not sure anymore though. Either way, it shouldn't be an awfully difficult thing to do for Rockstar, have the silencers work properly. But that new wanted system thing about the line of sight makes me thing Rockstar has this working properly...it HAS to, otherwise i'm gonna be disappointed, not gonna lie.

yes MP3 did have a suppressor for the M500. It is quite lovely.

You might want to research how suppressors work...

Yea, I can see Rockstar "hollywoodizing" the effects that silencers/suppressors give to firearms.

Since there is a stealth skill now I think that it will work better than it did in SA
