ChocoFrosty
Weapon wheel sucks, it's so unconfortable to keep a button pressed and select the guns.Much better just switching with one key ubtil you get what you need. Also you can't run from police when you are trying to change the gun with the wheel. How can you run from police when you are scrolling through weapons with the d-pad? I have done it many times, the only thing to keep in mind is you've got to be really quick. But if you're as much of a GTA nerd as I am, that's not going to be a problem. Well even if you do it quickly, you still have to take your thumb off the left stick (which controls player movement) for a brief moment, so FEDE_snma_ITA's claim is bogus. I guess you could also contort your hand/fingers around in a funny way to maintain moment while switching with the d-pad, but that's not very practical. With the weapon wheel, you don't ever have to take your thumb off the left stick. You do need to move your right thumb to use the right stick, so in that moment you wouldn't be able to tap the sprint button, but so really the weapon wheel is either as fast if not faster than switching with the d-pad. Tpleezy
Don't understand why people complains about that. It takes me less than a second to switch for another weapon in RDR or MP3 while in GTA IV I'm still pushing that right button 10 times until I get to the one I want. Men when you know your wheel its waaaaaaaaay easier to switch.

As a GTA player i m more used to d pad and when u do the shortcut thing its way faster, anyway i think its mainly a matter of habits, i didnt play rdr a lot n smtimes mistook its controls wit GTA s. I never liked the fact of carrying a whole arsenal n wld love a system where u d have 2 choose which ones u pick or let aside cuz of realism, but Rockstar i guess know what they do n i remain confident that the wheel cld be an improvement in gameplay, i just hope that the years spent on playing gta 4 mp wont make it too difficult to change my habits, if gameplay, driving n controls change too radically, it ll be a new challenge to keep a good level on mp, but it ll be the same 4 everbody,17 th sept ll be a reset
5000 Staples
technically.... weapon wheel was implanted badly in gta4. I believe holding L1 and pressing a direction on d-pad selected a chosen weapon.

BlackNoise
The weapon wheel is so much better. What's the argument against moving while choosing the exact weapon you want? I understand nostalgia, but people need to move on.
Geralt of Rivia
Well, the OP is definitely a 13 year old, so he is not to be taken seriously. As for the weapon wheel: It's good to some, bad to others. I think a weapon wheel with 12 slots is kinda excessive, and can lead to constantly picking the wrong item. And contrary to the OP's belief, you most likely won't be able to have more than 1 weapon type, such as 2 shotguns or 2 Assault Rifles. This is GTA, not RDR. Carmelo2
I dont mind the weapon wheel but I'd rather not be able to have every single weapon available in game at any given time. Would be better to have a batch of weapons stocked at your safe house and you choose which ones you want to roll with before you leave you're house. Algonquin Assassin
One issue I have with weapon wheels is sometimes they can be annoying when they don't engage. Especially in a tense situation and you try to select in a hurry and it wont or you choose the wrong gun. The old left to right and vice versa system was almost perfect in this regard. I have no problem with a weapon wheel in GTA V, but OP you better be careful with what you say about people who hold a different view to you. Take this as a pre-warning. JOSEPH X
Not just fidgety and annoying, but who wants to look at a big wheel with pictures of guns on it in the middle of a gunfight? It's the complete opposite of immersion.

But so is stopping running, pressing left on the D-Pad 4 times to get to your M4/AK47, and then trying to aim and shoot. You get your ass shot off way more than a quick button press, and aiming the stick which way you want for an instant gun change. Scrolling just plain sucks, it takes too long. We don't know the design of the weapon wheel... for all we know it could be in the bottom right hand corner when selecting and have no impact on the L.O.S and like in RDR be set up in a way that you will be able to select guns without bringing up the the wheel. i.e holding down one button and direction d-pad, but it's user designed so you know where your gun is located. lets be honest here.... having both a weapon wheel and the 'old' gta weapon system in the game would work for everyone. which imo... will be the case. GrandTheftEllboy
I was kind of torn between which I prefer but I think I'm with the 'classic' crowd. It's got nothing to do with nostalgia or even familiarity but rather the fact that i'm a lot more efficient in GTA combat than RDR, the weapon wheel just got in the way and was often annoyingly fiddly. However, that said I'm not too disheartened as I know that R* will excel no matter what they do.

Honest Bill
The wheel is much quicker and more efficient than the scroll. Just because the scroll is 'classic' doesn't mean it isn't totally flawed. The wheel system is better in every way. They did actually have a similar modifier + direction system in IV. It's just that many people didn't know about it. The wheel also makes it possible to carry all the weapons at the same time instead of having to replace guns in a particular category. RDR made it possible to switch to the category you want in a fraction of a second, in the middle of a fight.

gtamann123
The weapon wheel won't work like in RDR. We will only be able to carry one of each type of weapon. And we can store out other owned weapons in cases at safehouses like in Far Cry 2.

The only reason they bothered limiting your weapons in the old games was the ridiculous amounts of scrolling that would have been necessary. This eliminates that issue thus making it possible to have all of them at once. Whether or not they will actually allow that is another matter entirely. But i think they will. Why wouldn't they? It takes away the distinctness of the characters, instead of building a varied arsenal for each of them.
WildBrick142
I like both but I prefer scrolling. It's easier to get gun you want and it won't distract you with a weapon wheel that covers 90% of the screen. (I died a few times on MP3 or SRTT after getting distracted by it) It would be a good thing if R* made an option to choose scrolling weapons or weapon wheel. HoboDealer
I don't see why people are arguing over which is better. Everyone has their preferences! Arguing is just pointless.
