Three women found after years of being missing

Makes you wonder how many more are out there like this?

You might drive past a house in your street every day that has kidnapping victims hidden inside.

Scary and sad when you think of it.

This is Chris Ramseys 911 Call, this guy is a legend. 1 minute and 3 seconds mark is the funniest part IMO.

why do people get to be "heroes" for doing what anyone would do?

I think it's great that he did the right thing, but I don't think it makes him special or a hero.

I think most people would have done what he did.

let's stop throwing around the word "hero."

it cheapens the definition for all of us.

^hush.

He is a hero. Your basically are saying he's apparently not good enough to be a hero.

that's not what I said rolleyes.gif

what I said is that doing the right thing doesn't make you a hero.

it makes you normal.

I'm not saying we shouldn't be congratulating him, I'm just saying that he's not actually a "hero" because a hero goes beyond the normal.

this guy did what almost any normal person would do. and that's great. I'm glad he did.

and maybe to those three women he is personally their hero.

I can understand that. because he just happened to be the guy who came along when they needed. he's their hero. but I don't think that makes him a hero in general.

people use the word "hero" and "brave" too much.

it cheapens the actual definition of hero and bravery for the rest of us.

He didn't know it was a kidnapping until the police came.

Most people don't rush over to a neighbour's house in the middle of a domestic dispute, break down a locked door and get the victim to safety.

Yeah if someone yells; "I've been kidnapped and locked in this house for years"

I go: "Sort it out with your parents!"

He said she told her that she had been locked away in the house for a long time while she was still in the house.

Yes, after he was already busting down the door, thinking she was in the middle of being beaten by her boyfriend. Plenty of terrible things happen because of bystanders doing nothing. The overwhelming majority of people listen to domestic violence coming from a neighbour's house and don't do a thing.

The lad went above and beyond, quit pissing on his parade.

Right, he did the right thing at the right time. Good for him.

But this guy also has 3 felonies for beating his wife, and a rehab visit for crack. I don't think this guy is deserving of a "hero" status. He was in the right place at the right time. Good for him that he chose to do the right thing though.

Hero? No. Outstanding citizen? Yes.

Most people don't rush over to a neighbour's house in the middle of a domestic dispute, break down a locked door and get the victim to safety.

but that's not what happened.

according to the 9/11 call and the woman herself, she had already reached the front door and was calling out for help, saying that she had been kidnapped and needed to escape.

Ramsay didn't just go "rush over" to the house "in the middle of a domestic dispute."

he ran over to the sound of a woman crying for help and saying "I've been kidnapped!"

most people would do the exact same thing.

it's great!

we should be happy for him and for her. but that doesn't automatically make him a "hero."

Despite me possibly offending some people, I think "hero" is thrown around very easily in the USA. So I do have to agree with you there.

My aunt is only my aunt through law. She's married to my half uncle. My grandmother had two children from two different men. If anything, it's by law.

So... Which one of those 3 is related to you?

If this isn't bullsh*t: Sh*t, world is a very small place my friend, a guy on the Internet is probably related to one of those three girls who were kidnapped for 10 years. No seriously, I've seen many coincidences on the net, most of them were bullsh*t, but some of the were real.

Ok so your half uncle would be the blood relation then (kind of). So whos kid is your half uncles then? Ariel Castro or Amanda Berry?

As the family tree would kinda go:

Aunt (by law) + Half Uncle (Blood Kind Of)

\/

Amanda Berry or Ariel Castro (Is your half uncles child)

\/

Amanda Berry's and Ariel Castro Child

So again who is your half second cousin or whatever they would call it? Berry or Castro?

It's honestly not such a huge coincidence, by the time you get to the 20th cousins, you have approximately 1 million cousins.

Didn't do that much research. Don't really care that much either. All I know is that my aunt (Name is Deborah or something like that. I couldn't care less) is married to my uncle. And she is the grandmother of the 18 m/o child.

It's great they have been found safe and well at last but I have to agree. If opening a door classes you as a hero these days I'm a hero many times over hope I make the queens honor list this year .......
