urbanfire
When the GI preview came out November last year, we were all preped up for a confirmed Spring release. Then came the 2 months of info drought (albeit a few screenshots on christmas eve). Finally on the day of the boxart reveal, we are shocked with the "4 month" delay that shall now take place instead. Conspiracy theories came about, assuming they delayed it in time for next gen simultaneous release, which R* shot down by insisting it was merely to make the game the best experience for us. But by this merit they could theoretically delay the game indefinitely... Anyways, my theory for the delay is that initially, back in Nov, they did not plan to include character customisation, property buying etc. But due to fan backlash, they decided to include these things, thus requiring additional time and thus indeed "creating the best experience for us gamers". What do you guys reckon is the reason for the delay, in light of the new info we've gotten in the recent previews? And would you rather play the game as is right now, or happy to wait for the 4 month polish?
guden
Sure, they've been reading GTAForums and decided to delay the game not to upset those kids wanting haircuts and tattoos
poklane
When I watch the trailers, the game is still broken as f*ck or somebody at R* who edits the trailers has no eye for detail.
stee_vo
When I watch the trailers, the game is still broken as f*ck or somebody at R* who edits the trailers has no eye for detail. Broken as f*ck? Really? What exactly is broken as f*ck?
YG Low Down
This topic has been discussed a 1000 times and it doesnt need to be discussed again because the delay has already happened and there is nothing we can do about it

GTAfan786
Actually, we would have been playing in 10 days time. Anyway, stop complaining about the delay ffs, we know why it was delayed.
guden
When I watch the trailers, the game is still broken as f*ck or somebody at R* who edits the trailers has no eye for detail. No, it's just people who overwatch the trailers frame by frame.
wwinterj
People will jump to there own conclusions naturally but I do believe the delay is as black and white as it sounds. R* wanted more time to polish the game, get rid of as much bugs as they can and make everything look even better. Everything we know so far was in the game from the start. Had we got the game now I believe it would be the same product just more rough around the edges.
urbanfire
Actually, we would have been playing in 10 days time. Anyway, stop complaining about the delay ffs, we know why it was delayed. Really? We know the reason why? Please enlighten us. @wwinterj If everything was there from the start, why would they blatantly state there was no character customisation and that property buying wasn't going to be in the game? What benefit would they get by saying such thing, except to avoid fan disappointment by saying we told you so when the gamers put the game into their ps3s and realise these things aren't in it? I just feel they changed their minds on this recently, thus needing extra time. Edited May 7, 2013 by urbanfire
JeteaFive
The true is that on Spring there was a bit competition and R* could lost some money. In September, they have no risks to lose any money because the "big games" come out at October/November.
NickA92
And I'd be failing my exams because of it. Swings and roundabouts.
CalgaryJay
I don't think we'd have it yet, my guess was around end of May. But yes close enough. Gamer stores really need to hide those "Spring 2013" signs on their GTA V displays, every time I see one lately its the biggest tease.
Grand Theft Auto TOM
People, please remember that the delay is just to make the game as it needs to be. Yesterday I was thinking about how GTA V would look like if it's not delayed. It think the difference could be quite big. And still, 4 months isn't that much. I mean, over one and a half year ago GTA V was announced. I can't believe it's already that long ago. Something disappointing is that I got my exams next year, but... It's Grand Theft Auto, goddamit. So, I'm going to play GTA V as well. And not a bit, but a lot! Still have enough time to learn. Edited May 7, 2013 by Grand Theft Auto TOM
nigelhere9901
If there wasn't this 4 month delay, we'd still had no hair customization or buy able properties.

BillGates
If there wasn't this 4 month delay We'd be playing the game right now .. and complain about lots of bugs and features.
Grove Street Balla
No, because Spring ends like June 21st, so it could've been released in June lol

d3ex2
It was most likely due out this month but right now it's more likely it wouldn't be out yet. We'd be so close though. It sucks but y'kno what really sucks? Playing a game that isn't finished, buggy and laggy as hell.
Lelouch The Zero
When I watch the trailers, the game is still broken as f*ck or somebody at R* who edits the trailers has no eye for detail. I'm guessing that Dan Houser must've been on that bloody Whiskey again when he made the trailers.
5000 Staples
The game truly never got delayed.. it went from spring 2013 to September 17th. I don't call that a delay I call that, R* giving a window to shut people up for a while. lol
Hodgey.
And your point is? We can all look at a calender and see that if they stuck with the original date that we would be playing GTA V by now, but the fact is R* wasnt happy with the game so they pushed the release back. R* have done this numerous times when it comes to the GTA series and when they announced it again this time it wasnt really a huge surprise to me. Really you think that they don't have this in mind before the november preview? Elaborate. Previously they declared that the game will not have any hair customization or you won't be able to buy properties, now it is the contrary. d3ex2
Actually we would still have 10 days to wait as it was meant to come out 17th. Who said that? I'm not aware of anyone especially Rockstar saying it was coming out on the 17th May. They just said the game was delayed by about 4 months. Calculate from the delay announcement about 4 months and you get 17th or 24th

What exactly is broken as f*ck? The trailers are not perfect but as you can see they advanced faster In terms of graphics Three months is a long time If you are a graphic designer you can do much at this time And if you are together with 50 other graphic artists then the sky is the limit Rockstar builds all models from scratch I know other companies that use existing models So I imagine that the process is a bit longer
