Why would you need a better phone? In reality you buy a phone with a better processor or more memory, but that plays no part in a game. So the only reason would be a different skin though that's just nit picking really. OT I believe they'll all have smartphones, but different skins to suit their characters. And probably Trevor might not have one in the beginning but Michael might give him one ''to stay in contact'' with him as soon as they meet. The same reason you got a new phone halfway through IV.
