AI Protagonists

I did a bit of searching and couldn't find anything on this. As we know the trio will be attending missions together. Now in previous GTA games and in other games such as Call of duty, AI team mates/companions have been bloody useless. They are just there, to be there. They hardly fire their guns and if they do, they either shoot everything that's not the enemy or do no damage at all. (It seems)

I'm hoping that the AI this time around actually do something and I dont have to do all the work, or maybe I'm just lazy.

Thoughts?

I read in a pre view the AI of the other protagonists when your not playing them will be passive, but they will try to survive and let you do most of the shooting. I'll see if I can find that pre view for ya

I read somewhere in a preview where Rockstar said you would've had to mess up so bad to get one of your protag's killed. I'm sure they'll nail it.
