GKP
I hate the way the first person cam view in car used a fish eye lens to make everything seem farther away than it really is. Yes this accentuates speed , but it wasnt used in 3 , VC or SA why in IV ?...perhaps to make the city seem larger than it really was. I found it annoying because its a false view of the world. The behind the car view showed things as they really are and thats how I would like the in car view to be. Anyone agree ?
RedDragonsBOOM
One thing I dislike about all the GTAs(at least I think it is in all of them) is the speed filter on the camera when you are driving at a high speed, it makes every way to blurry, is completely unrealistic, and the worst part is it comes off looking incredibly cheap, possibly even the poorest quality looking and acting feature on GTA. GKP
I believe its done to lower the texture quality and to make it easier for the consoles to stream.

The faster you go, the faster the game has to load the environment, when you go really fast it's not always possible to keep up and weird stuff starts happening like the ground/buildings disappear. The blur is to limit the possibility of this happening.
Dingleman
It's not a fish eye lens, it's an increased field of vision (FOV). This is done so you get a broader scope of the traffic and surrounding objects coming in from the side of the screen. Without it, your perspective is limited simply to what is almost directly in front of you or at a distance. In cars speeding over 100mph, I would say this is really helpful in avoiding dozens of unanticipated crashes.

More FOV = more fisheye. I personally want more fisheye, I play almost every game with 90-100 FOV

This would also explain why the map comparisons with GTA IV don't add up.
GKP
Thats only in reference to shooting, not driving. 'While shooting, you have a wider field of vision as the camera pulls back and you will be able to shoot and run with complete control, which was really missed in previous GTA games. You will have the ability to sprint with guns out and do combat-rolls to move from cover to cover and evade enemy fire. Moving out of cover will be somewhat smoother and when you target an enemy, in free aim, soft lock or hard lock, the reticule changes from white to red. Really useful in an intense combat situation, especially when there are several characters like in this game. And when you finally kill the enemy, a cross or X will flash over the reticule to hint you at the kill.' Wide FOV distorts the view too much FFS.... nigelhere9901
You must not be very clever if you dislike high FOV.

TheQuestfor100Percent
I always liked the blurry screen at high speeds. At least they try to make it seem like you are going fast.
GourangaMaster
You have to be the first person ive heard that prefers less visibility whilst driving. The wider the FOV the better imo. Less chance of being blind sided. EDIT: It's not a fish eye lens, it's an increased field of vision (FOV). GKP
Um - the same visibility you get in SA VC 3 and in the behind the car view in IV. FFS its a realistic visibility...it makes distances seem further than they really are. Other GTAs didnt need it , why should IV or V.

Actually, realistic would be a 180 degrees FOV, since that is what us humans have (including our peripheral vision). A higher FOV doesn't distort the image in any way, it simply reveals more around it like a panoramic picture. IV was a design improvement on every other GTA in almost all aspects, including little things like this. Driving with a full view of the road is much simpler and more engaging than driving while staring through narrow pipe.
