N0Xaeris
So I was wondering how R* was going to parody California's, and in particular, LA's political climate. State level Parody: Even though the government is seen as extremely liberal, it's actually rich with politicians that play towards special interests and pass austerity measures(especially our governor, Jerry Brown). Brown also doesn't spend on anything (with the exception of high speed rail and very few bridge and tunnel projects) so the states infrastructure is falling apart and repairs are left to the cash strapped cities and counties. Meanwhile, conservatives say that brown hasn't cut enough and is still spending out of control. A lot of liberals are upset that he isn't raising taxes and that he's cutting too much. Personally i'd like to see this represented in jokes made by characters or just peds having a conversation. Also there is the traditional way of mocking our government though radio and TV. City and county parody: So, LA is going to vote in a mayoral race soon, and there is literally a hipster that has a major chance at winning(Eric Garcetti). This guy isn't a hipster in the traditional sense, but close to it. He apparently is popular with both Hispanic voters and a lot of the Hollywood types, so i'm sure R* could parody that, somehow. Honestly, out of all of this, I kind of hope that R* shows the vast difference in climate no matter where you go. So if you go to sandy shores, maybe you'll hear a conservative TV or Radio station playing or someone talking about conspiracy theories, and the same goes for the rich areas in the hills(maybe less conspiracy theories there), but if you go to a middle class area in LS you'll hear a liberal station or people criticizing conservatives. I'm a political junkie so I always try to find the political parodies in GTA. IV and the introduction of Weazle news made me so happy because how can you not parody Fox news? Last time it was terrorism, this time I think we're going to see a lot about immigration and maybe even gun laws. What does everyone else think? Anything else you might expect to see? (I'm not intending this to be a flame war between political ideologies, just civil discussion, so no triggering or trolling please) Edited May 7, 2013 by N0Xaeris
Lelouch The Zero
I hope they don't parody it. I play GTA to get away from bullsh*t like that. Sure GTA has police, but that doesn't mean we throw in politics and Government type sh*t. FIB is good enough, I say leave it at that.
KrushLTx10
I can see them doing a parody on the governor. Possibly Arnie? Even though he was a governor up until 2011 and the game is supposedly set in 2013 I don't believe they don't need to go entirely off of reality. He had a scandal and everything so there's bound to be some humorous content if they did go down this road.
