Movies to get you ready for GTA V

I've been reading/watching all the latest previews, and it's clear that bank heists and robberies will be the central theme around GTA V. Growing up in France, I didn't get the chance to see all those hollywood action films talked about the last weeks (Heat, Die Hard etc). Really want to get into the game's vibe so perhaps you fellow GTA fans have any movies to recommend?

I'm just about to start the movie Reservoir Dogs, never seen it before.

Thx guys!

Heat, The Town, The Getaway (Steve McQueen flick), Sneakers is an excellent heist film, although it's more of a comedy it's still a great film. Thief (starring James Caan), The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), and Dog Day Afternoon would all be excellent choices I can recommend.

Apart from Heat another movie I'll watch to get into the game is Public Enemies even though it takes place in the 20th century.

Lelouch The Zero

I remember watching this movie as a kid, and it has Nicolas Cage in it and him and his crew had found some kind of wallet someone dropped, and then they kept all the money iirc, then they tried to rob some bank, hilarious movie. Sad that I can't remember the name. But I definitely recommend that movie since it's a good Suspense Crime Comedy. You'll enjoy it just as much as Heat.

Yes that's it, I loved that movie. The Bank Heist was hilarious. Check it out if you haven't seen it OP.

The Dark Knight

f*ck yeah son.

"Via con dios" at the end when he lets him go ride that sick wave. It's a twisted flick though. So violent.

It's not a movie, but I would try to watch some Sopranos if you haven't seen it. Some season 1. There's definitely some Tony in Michael. Not a rip-off or anything but some parallel threads in their lives.

OK, I think Heat is a grossly obvious choice yet someone will still post it below. me. tounge.gif

Point Break has me very curious. Haven't seen that one. icon14.gif

Falling Down and Drive as mentioned above are classic.

Training Day

LA is this movie's locale and it has in my opinion very GTA-style ambience. And brilliant actors too, Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. I highly recommend if not seen.

Well as we know, Mike gets his hiest ideas from old Hollywood movies, and from what I've read from the the articles from journalists who saw the demo, the mission in the demo is 'definitely based on the movie Heat'.

So Heat would be the one I would start off with.

Every movie that has been mentioned plus Pierce Brosnan's The Thomas Crown Affair. Not much action, but a good movie nonetheless.

I know everyone say's 'The Matrix' is Keanu Reeves best film, this one does it for me. Best part about Point Break is Patrick Swayze though. Awesome flick! The bank robbing and sky diving scene's really get you in the mood for GTA bro. Trust me.
