Cops and Trains

Seeing as trains are in the game, I'm wonder how the police will try to stop us if we steal one while we have a wanted level. In SA they just rammed the train like they would a car, and since the train was invincible (apart from derailment), and we couldn't be hurt in anyway while inside the train, it really was a case of easy getaway.

 

This time around though, trains have a damage model (if the second trailer is anything to go by, and if it isn't a cut scene or anything), so I wondered how they'd try to stop us. Hopefully they'll be a bit smarter than ramming us with their police cruisers. I mean, I can't exactly think of a time that a train has been stolen and police had to stop the person (though I can think of many occasions where police were tasked with stopping a runaway train).

 

Anyways, how do you guys think the cops will deal with us when we're in a train?

 

I honestly can't think of a way that they realistically could stop a train.

 

I guess, since there is supposedly a damage model, they could shoot the train till it either stops running, or blows up (or shoot us since I doubt we'll be invincible this time).

 

An extreme way of stopping a train would probably have to be sending another one in the opposite direction, (like trailer two), though, I would hope that'd be a 5 star wanted level type of thing if that actually were to be in the game for whatever reason. If not, another way would be to derail the train, either by removing some railing, or using a portable derailer (though I doubt R* would go that in depth for a chase with a train).

 

Of course, none of this will be a problem if we can't drive trains

the loco I drive has an emergency engine stop button on the side. Maybe they can shoot it to kill the engine. Although that won't stop it from rolling.

Maybe they will have derailers just like real life. Although these can only be used in certain locations.

If I remember correctly, there's an emergency shutoff switch on the side of the fuel tank, is that the one you're talking about? Or are you talking about the one in the cab?

 

Anyways, yeah, I would expect, for the sake of realism, that they try to limit using those while in the city, but for the sake of seeing destruction, I hope they don't

 

But yeah, once they leave the city, cops in cars will have a hard time following the train once they get into the mountain area (since the railroad tracks don't follow the road), unless they fall in behind the end of the train, then I wonder what happens then. Maybe they send a chopper after you so you don't get away that easily.

That would be a 6 star tactic, even though there are only 5 stars in V, lol.

I remember seeing that on Discovery channel, there was a runaway loco and the police waited at the crossing and a guy just managed to press the emergency brake button as it went by. It put the brakes on but the cable was frozen so it didn't put the brakes on much it was like 20% brake power

A runaway train would be an awesome random event. Have Trevor jump on and save the day... or make the day a whole lot worse.

There are definitely gonna be hydras or other fighter jets chase you, how can they other wise stop you if you're in a jet yourself.

Do you need to know what his favourite BMW is so you can approve of his signature? I like BMW's as well, should I but a BMW signature up instead? Or should I put up my favorite GTA V character?

But yeah, I doubt that runaway trains will be included, mainly because you'd be pretty limited in the time window you have to jump onto the train.

Using one of those derail parts.

 

Flying a chopper in front of the train and shoot at the driver (with a laser sight, like in that infernus pic with the chopper in background)

 

I would say, make a very big blockade in front of you current direction of travel, but demolishing a train to stop you is a bit to over the top I think XD

 

In GTA IV cops were able to stop the subway, so I wonder if it would be possible to just disable a train with an emergency button. Though I'm pretty sure it will not be like that, since after seeing the movie 'Unstoppable' I think a train can only stop itself like that. How about making another train appear from behind, hang itself on your train and then start braking XD (also from Unstoppable) Or drive a car next to the train and jump on it, or drop SWAT guys on the train and let them enter the cabin, I don't know XD

 

 

Seriously now: My guesses are: Flying a cop helicopter in front of the train or make one of those SWAT suvs with SWAT guys hanging onto it drive next to the train and shoot at the driver, or just follow the train with helicopters untill it stops and then move in.
