Low FPS on GTAIV

For some reason my GTAIV lags a lot more then it should for a game that is 4 years old. Its been bugging me so much I have no clue how to fix it and I have friends who play it fine on PC with no lag what so ever.

 

Here are the specifications for my computer:

Processor- AMD FX-4100 CPU (4x 3.60GHz/4MB L2 Cache)

Memory- 16gb of RAM

Graphics- Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB

Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-970A-D3

Hi, I think it's because you are using win 7. Correct me if I'm wrong but maybe it only lags when you press a button. This is a compatibility issue and I had it before, but yeah, I fixed it, just google win7 gta 4 lag fix or something like that. It has a youtube video or something. Hope this helps, cause I think your PC is great with those specs and all. BUT if it doesn't work, just go to the settings then lower all and if the FPS is better, try improving the settings until it's just about "right".

Have you updated the game with the latest patch?

Do you have any mods installed?

Can you post your benchmark result?

press windows key + R to open run window

type in services.msc

search for windows or something event log and disable it reboot and then no lag when pressing keys
