OysterBarron
Seems ok to me haven't really missed anything yet that's supposedly missing? I had to give in and give my dood a shower as he just wouldn't do anything after a while! He still aint getting no toilet he doesn't need one if he has perfectly good underwear! Wow you were serious...you're so mean Well I've spoiled him with a 3 x 3 log cabin with a bed and a fridge, begrudgingly I've built him a 2 x 2 outhouse for a shower. His main job is to plant, weed, water and harvest the 12 outdoor planters. He is allowed to socialise with 2 randomers walking past a day until I decide the plants need tending to or he has had to much free time. I'm going to expand the planters so they encompass the whole lot and i'm going to apply name it my slave garden. Audiophile
Geralt of Rivia
That's the thing though. Sums games usually get years of DLC. You will never get that in a base game. It'd take too long to create. And then you have the main reason: Every Sims base game has their own little "thing" that makes it different. For the Sims 3, it was open world, CAST(?), etc. For the Sims 4, it's performance, emotions, multitasking, etc. Also, the Sims are so much more realistic in Sims 4. Last night, I took my Sim to the bar before his first day of work. There were about 5 people there (More than Sims 3 would've ever had). 2 dancing, 3 at the bar. So I go to sit down, and I order a drink. No one seems to really be acknowledging me. So what do I do? I buy the whole group drinks. And what do you know, they start talking to me. We were drinking and talking and laughing. And then more people came. There were probably 10 people at the bar when I started telling a funny story. They huddled around and listened intently. Non other Sims game can even come close to replicating that, and that was only in my first 2 hours. @above: Lol holy sh*t dude. Geralt of Rivia
I mean, nowhere in Sims 3 will this happen: A dozen people, sharing laughs, getting drinks, and all just conversing. Or, more to the point: A dozen people at one place! Although, does anyone get stuttering loading screens? I'm digging the new career options. Pretty much. I am having more fun with the TS4 base game than I've had with TS2 or 3. I mean people are complaining on the main forums saying it's the bare minimum. Why? Because it's missing dishwashers, toddlers and pools? The latter two of which they said they will add back in and are working on them. Including family trees, etc. It's coming, wtf are you complaining about. This is a good foundation and gives them the potential to make good content. I liked the open worldness in the third one. The Sims 4 would be quite a change for you then, because there's loading screens for everything. Even to go to your neighbor's house. However, these loading screens aren't long, and they're beneficial to the overall gameplay. For starters, the game loads fast. it doesn't take forever like the Sims 3 did, and it doesn't run like absolute dogsh*t either. It also allows for situations like the screenshot I provided above. Lots of Sims in one place, completely unprovoked by any social situation. The only way you had that many people in Sims 3 was if you organized a party or wedding. Emotions are a cool new little feature. If you're in a flirty mood, you are better at flirting and talking to guys/girls. If you're in an embarrassed mood, you get options to spill your feelings with Sims. Stuff like that is really cool. I don't have any experience with building yet, but from what I've seen, it's way better than in previous games. Multitasking is a f*cking dream. Seriously. Now I can chat with someone, watch TV, and eat at the same time. 3 separate Need bars filled at the same time. It's great. New careers are pretty cool, too. I made my Sim an artist. That's an actual career now. -------------------------- In conclusion, I really love the game, and I think my $70 was very well spent. However, watch some Let's Plays of the game first. See if you'd like it or not. Audiophile

I bought a new gaming rig, it's coming Monday but the one I am playing on now is from 2010 (GTX 460M, i7 1.73 GHz, 6 GB's...Sims 3 is a stutterfest with all expansions even on this...). If you want to know more about gameplay, I made several detailed posts a few pages back. Start reading from there and it should give you a good idea of some of the possibilities. http://gtaforums.com/topic/555069-sims-4/?p=1066128691 That post onwards I am detailing quite a bit. EDIT: Yeah, I get that on loading screens, too. But I noticed it only happens sometimes. We'll see what happens when I get my new desktop on Monday. Would have preferred an i7 but that i5 is a 4th gen Haswell and no lightweight. I don't do any video work on my Windows PC's. Only my Macbook, so it makes no difference to me that it is an i5. Also, MF, glad you like the game. I was afraid to speak as highly of it as I thought because it's a subjective thing and didn't want people posting saying "fuq u, I bought the gaem cause of you but it sux". I can see Kirsty bought it, too. What do you think, Kirsty? I noticed that female sims actually gain weight after giving birth. Just like in real life. Similar to how all sims now gain weight if they don't exercise for a long time/eat fatty foods. What jobs can your Sims get in TS4? There are 8 careers, at the moment. Each career has two branches you can go into. Entertainer: Musician/Comedian Writer: Author/Journalist Painter: Master of the Real/Patron of the Arts Secret Agent: Diamond Agent/Villain Criminal: Boss/Oracle Astronaut: Space Ranger/Smuggler Culinary: Chef/Mixologist Tech Guru: eSport Gamer/Start-up Entrepreneur No doubt we will see more. One of the devs wrote on the official forums that they do have plans and likely for more "normal" careers, like from previous games. Wayne Daniels
Ah sh*t I thought I was going crazy when I noticed my guy getting chubby even though I made him slightly buff in the creator, I'm embarrassed to take his shirt of now. Audiophile is there and way to make good money? I'm currently in the entertainer career, but it seems it's taking so long to save up money and when I do, a $400 bill comes in the mail and takes a chunk off my savings. I've just started sending my girlfriend to work as a writer so I've got her income now too, but i really just wanted her at home when I'm at work so I don't have to fast forward the whole day. Geralt of Rivia
Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. My guy's not even making $200 a day, bills are almost $400, and I used a lot of money on a new bed. Couple that with my wife not working (I always have the wife be a stay-at-home mom), and her eating everything in the house, and I'm heading to a bad place financially. Thankfully you can sell individual paintings. And thankfully my wife likes to do random pushups all the time. She'll lose that weight immediately! Coin
Writing books seems like a good way to do it so far. Audiophile
Pretty much just wait it out. That's part of the fun, do the tasks to get promoted and earn more money. Get a hobby for your sim, like gardening or fishing. If that takes too much time, get some skill in an instrument until you unlock the "write a song" ability. You can eventually license those songs via the mailbox and earn some nice royalties. I have 400 + coming in just for one song. If you have programming skill, create some apps or even a video game (once your skill level is 9 you can do that, I think - apps comes earlier though) and you get royalties from those, too. Write a book. Royalties, royalties, royalties. The challenge is part of the fun but yeah, it sucks if it feels like you are getting nowhere. OysterBarron
So I started a new house with a new character. My sim pulled some evil bird of whom he proposed to and got to move in. Things were going well but the fact she randomly manically evil laughed to herself when alone was a serious warning sign for the relationship. I went afk for a cig and come back to a massive row between them, Turns out they slipped into angry emotion and it appears any sim conversation when angry can end up costing you 3 hours of socialising in a matter of minutes. Once i got both of them to chill out slowly I began to patch the relationship up getting them to know each other again so they could both stand the site of eachother. I was very close to setting a weeding date for them something however made me back out of the wedding screen. Not 2 minutes later a massive kitchen fire broke out while she was cooking luckerly I had installed a smoke detector and I waited and waited for the fire brigade to turn up ........... They never came and my Sims first fiancee perished in that fire. After realising that I indeed need to use my sim to extinguish a fire he managed to get it under control but not after it gutting the entire kitchen area. He was alone and had no one to do his chores for him while he was out making a living. He decided to remedy this by ringing up the caterer that helped him at his first party. They hit it off and my sim soon learnt that she was a nice sim it wasn't long until she moved in and they were trying for a child. He really wants to get engadged but for some reason even though his past fiancee is dearly departed the option to propose is greyed out and says he's allready engadged? She went into labor and had a little boy called jack. The pregnancy period is great on the second trimester you can see she gets that glow when women fall pregnant. Morning sickness, smaller bladder gets slightly more aggravated they've thought of everything very cool. Really enjoying it and I haven't even really explored outside. The emotions are top notch when my Sims were aggravated or angry they slammed the fridge and you could tell by there body language they were pissed. So yeah a couple of bugs unless I missing something. Can't get engadged again if you didn't break up with your fiancee and he/she dies. If your energy depletes and you are close to passing out even if you make it to bed in the last second until pass out you will climb into bed get out of bed then pass out on the floor with your arse in the air. MONEY TIP: this is just by chance but because of what has happened in my household it's a neat little tip. Every time you ask a random character to move in he/she will bring in 20 to the household. Obviously my first fiancee died and I got another bird to move in she brought another 20k into the household topping me up to 40k been able to afford some nice stuff and still have lots of change. Geralt of Rivia
Is your ex on your relationships list still? If she is, see if you can break up with her through that. Audiophile
I had the same thing happen. I PM'd that issue to a SimGuru on the official forums, the lead producer on TS4 and he says it is a noted issue and they are working on it. They are working on relationships in general because right now the jealousy is not where they would like it to be. My sim's fiancee also died, but starved to death....on purpose. When I had him try to get engaged to someone else, it told mere was already engaged. Top lel. But they are now aware.
